I'm not sure exactly, but it looks to me like they have multiple uses in the English language.

Some are used as nouns and adjectives.  Some are used as nouns and verbs.

What number gives the same result when it is added to 1.5 as when it is multiplied by 1.5?

The answer is 3.

3 + 1.5 = 4.5

3 x 1.5 = 4.5

Yes --- Thanks

BRAIN TEASERS

Take the letters ERGRO. Put three letters in front of it, and the same three letters behind to form a common English word.

The shepherd who had three loaves should get one coin and the shepherd who had five loaves should get seven coins. If there were eight loaves and three men, each man ate two and two-thirds loaves. So the first shepherd gave the hunter one-third of a loaf and the second shepherd gave the hunter two and one-third loaves. The shepherd who gave one-third of a loaf should get one coin and the one who gave seven-thirds of a loaf should get seven coins.

A fireman is running to get a net under a lady who looks like she might jump off the balcony of her 20 story apartment building. There is nothing below her except a 20 story fall. The fireman is still 100 yards away when she falls and can't nearly get there in time. The woman is not hurt more than a bruise. How is that possible?

He drops off 7 pairs of underwear, picks up 7 pairs = 14

Perhaps, she's wearing a pair = 15

2 -- the post only talked about what Mr. Mann did with his clothes, it said nothing about what anyone did with her clothes.

She puts on clean undies in the morning, and has a dirty pair from the day before.  She could wash those that day and have them ready for the next morning.

After teaching his class all about roman numerals (X = 10, IX=9 and so on) the teacher asked his class to draw a single continuous line and turn IX into 6. The only stipulation the teacher made was that the pen could not be lifted from the paper until the line was complete.

The best solution is to leave one behind....    1. Why would he need 3 bowling balls?   2.  Why is he walking around such an area with bowling balls in the 1st place? 3.  How does one carry 3 bowling balls in their hands? (really think about it)   I think these are even better riddles!!!  Inquiring minds want to know!!

Actually jugling won't solve it, due to gravity the ball falling will result in a weight geater than 10 lbs so when he catches it he will be over weight.

All he has to do is juggle the balls as he crosses...one will be in the air at all times, thus keeping him at 200 lbs.
