I would rather have my taxes fund unicorn research than another dollar go to welfare recipients.

2. He has a long history of adultery and extramarital affairs. He left his first wife to marry a millionaire heiress. He is rumored to have had numerous affairs with subordinates and coworkers - both while in the military and while serving in Senate.
3. He has been connected with various scandals while in the Senate - remember "The Keating Five"?
4. He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0 from the League of Conservation Voters last year.
5.He’s one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. He and his wife own at least eight homes - yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a “second job” and skip their vacations.
6.McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates.
7. He is a big government liberal who has voted against tax cuts.
8. He is a warmonger who believes that we should keep bases in Iraq permanently and should go to war with Iran.
8. He flip-flops on issues to suit the electorate. This has been well documented.
9. The entire premise of his campaign on "experience" is false. Being a POW does not qualify a person to lead a nation. Even General Wesley Clark noted said that McCain's fate in Vietnam was not a qualification to be president. Isn't that true? McCain's war experiences would not, in and of themselves, mean he is ready to practice law, do surgery, or even remove dangerous mold from a house. It's about skill sets, and the act of having your plane shot down is not relevant to the skills of being an executive.
10. He is computer illiterate and a techno-dimwit.
McCain Quotes
"That's not too important. What's important is the casualties." --on when U.S. troops will return from Iraq, "Today," NBC, June 11, 2008
"I will veto every single beer, um, bill with earmarks." --speaking at the National Small Business Summit, Washington, D.C., June 10, 2008 (Watch video clip)
"Well, basically, it's a Google." --on how he's conducting his VP search, Richmond, Virginia, June 9, 2008
"We should be able to deliver bottled hot water to dehydrated babies." --Kenner, Louisiana, June 3, 2008 (Watch video clip)
"The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should. I've got Greenspan's book."
"It's not social issues I care about."
"There are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods today." --prior to visiting a Baghdad market while being flanked by 22 soldiers, 10 armored Humvees, and two Apache attack helicopters
"You know that old Beach Boys song, Bomb Iran? Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran." (Watch video clip)
"Americans are very frustrated, and they have every right to be. style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff00"We've wasted a lot of our most precious treasure, which is American lives." --on the Iraq war
Not only slow-witted, he's also angry, mean-spirited and a bully.
"F**k you! I know more about this than anyone else in the room." --to Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), during a testy exchange about immigration legislation
"No, I'm calling you a f*cking jerk." --to fellow Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, when Grassley asked "Are you calling me stupid?"
"Only an a**hole would put together a budget like this ... I wouldn't call you an a**hole unless you really were an a**hole." --to Budget Committee Chairman and fellow Repulican Sen. Pete Domenici, during a Senate budget hearing

1.. He doesn't seem to be very smart - in fact, he probably really is dumber than George Bush. At age 72, he may be senile as well. I don't imagine most 72 year olds would disagree with you on that statement.
2. He has a long history of adultery and extramarital affairs. He left his first wife to marry a millionaire heiress. He is rumored to have had numerous affairs with subordinates and coworkers - both while in the military and while serving in Senate. Rumors are just that, rumors. Also, when marriages go south, I believe there are two sides to every story and the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle.
3. He has been connected with various scandals while in the Senate - remember "The Keating Five"? Have we forgotten all of the democratic, Clinton era scandals?
4. He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0 from the League of Conservation Voters last year. A liberal organization like that probably gives a Zero to all Republicans as a matter of policy.
5.He’s one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. He and his wife own at least eight homes - yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a “second job” and skip their vacations. Isn't most of their millions his wife's money? And why should taxpayers bail out people who bought more that they could afford? If my expenses outweighed my income, I'd have to get a second job or give up luxuries such as vacations.
6.McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates. Just because they may raise money for him doesn't mean he will be swayed by them. I've heard him many times speak against pork barrell projects that the Dems just seem to love.
7. He is a big government liberal who has voted against tax cuts. ???
8. He is a warmonger who believes that we should keep bases in Iraq permanently and should go to war with Iran. We still have bases in Germany, Japan and other places around the world to keep the peace.
8. He flip-flops on issues to suit the electorate. This has been well documented. All politicians flip flop at one point or another. Sometimes you learn more about an issue and change your stance.
No, being a POW doesn't automatically qualify a person to lead a nation but I would sure as heck trust them more than I would someone who has never served in the military at all. After all, our President is the Commander in Chief of our military services. I have the upmost respect for Senator McCain because of his service and I think General Clark should apologize for the remarks he made in his interview.
10. He is computer illiterate and a techno-dimwit. I don't recall being computer literate a job requirement.

Is this good judgement? I'm sure if I looked hard enough, I could find examples of quotes that Obama has made that make him look bad.
These retorts are made with all due respect JW. I'm voting for McCain. Obama just does not have the experience to make me feel comfortable with him as Commander In Chief. Last edited on Tue Jul 8th, 2008 06:52 pm by Stormkitty

| Nobody abhors war so much as those who have had to fight one. Senator McCain is just the man to protect the USA from the threats we face internationally today.

wow...looks like McCain, a former POWMIA, is quite into the topic of war! I have a bad feeling that John McCain will be a Bush repeat; seeking revenge by using war-like tactics. However, i admire his pride for his country.
I sure hope he doesn't use it the wrong way.
Are you saying that McCain is going to start a revenge war on Vietnam? That is quite a "bad feeling."

This is just the wrong approach, period. While I support Obama in the general election, I haven't been whipped into a propagandistic frenzy over McCain. I've generally liked him over the years -- his latest pandering to the evangelical right nonwithstanding. Still, I can't imagine calling him the "antichrist" or saying he represents the end of life as we know it. He's better than Bush, that's for sure.
So it makes me laugh to see how gullible people are to simple, calculated propaganda. To the point where they're calling Barack Obama -- perhaps not their candidate, fine -- Osama, the anti-christ, etc.
Once again, not reality. I also love how easily people can write off Rupert Murdoch's interview to conveniently fit their personal image of him. "I wish this is what he intended, so therefore it must have been his intention."
Don't be fooled by Murdoch. If the political tide swings 180 degrees in this country, he'll just as soon cater to the market needs as they shift. He likes money more than he likes the "moral majority."

4thekids, your's was great, too! She might be worse than Hillary. One can only imagine the things that woman would say over the next four years if her husband were elected. God forbid.
Edit: Just looked at 4thekids' picture again - I now understand Mrs. Obama's attitude. Wouldn't you be bitter if you looked like crap, yet still had to parade yourself all over television because your husband was a presidential candidate.

I guess that you have not heard, but things are going much better in Iraq. Even Obama is reconsidering the timeline to leave.

Who came nearly unanimously from Saudi Arabia, our great friendly oil dealer, not Iraq. The two storylines are completely unrelated.

| And this is what you'll get for another four years if McCain becomes president. More of America's finest killed over a war that was started with spin and lies. Four more years of what you see here. Attachment: image613397x.jpg (Downloaded 167 times)

The owner of your favorite FOX News Channel sees the Obama situation a little differently -- and with much less hysteria -- than many of you:

This will present a terrible problem for Obama. Lest we forget, that Obama wnted to get out in six months. Now that bids are going out to the Giant Oil Cos. to increase oil production 60%, do we run out of there now, before this gets accomplished? This should be an interesting discussion.
As predicted above, see the shifting sands below:

This is eerily similar to a Bill Clinton type of governing. Rather than lead, I will follow. You may recall that Clinton did not go to the bathroom without taking a poll. He then had the temeridy to divide the Democrat party by his stealing of republican issues and making them his own -- balanced budget amendment, fixing social security, etc. We will really know that Obama is the second coming of Clinton if he starts talking about gays in the military.
Otherwise, I will continue to brace for Jimmy Carter's second term.

I started watching Uncle Walter on CBS as a kid, then watched Rather for a number of years. It took me a while to learn enough about the world to find out that Rather was a liar on many issues. I started channel surfing abong the big three networks to find a national news broadcast that tried to give the news in Sgt Friday fashion, ie "Just the facts". It wasn't long before I figured out that all three networks had their own liberal spin on just about every story that had any political overtones. I even tried the Communist News Network, but it didn't take long to see the overtones of Ted Turners leftist leanings in their coverage. I started watching FOX during the early days of the Iraq war. From my viewpoint, their mantra of "We report, you decide"seems to be the way they cover news, from an unvarnished straight news perspective. Their news analysis shows like O'Rielly are opinion and are labled as such(something the other networks could take a lesson from). Even Hillary said she got fairer shake from Fox than the other networks.
The print media is almost totally liberal leaning, from the Sun to the NY Times to the Washington Compost and LA Times and on and on ad infinitum I can't think of a major paper that has a conservative slant on the news. The closest thing to a right wing viewpoint is the Washington Times.

What is the point in reading only that which corroborates what you already believe?
Because that other blather on MSNBC with Keith Oberman is sickening and insults peoples intelligence, and that's good enough for me.
I was talking about print news; there's a lot to choose from out there in the world of reporting besides MSNBC...

Say what you want about them, right or left, up or down, if you have a family member in the military with boots on the ground- the only thing you will hear about them (Unless it is VERY VERY negative) is on Fox.
