it was probably the fire at Corpak.  The roof was on fire at the old Ruddy Duck building.

Did they have the required lock on the trailer as required by Maryland law? If not someone should get a ticket.

Car, combine collide on 331

By KELLEY L. ALLEN Staff Writer
Published: Thursday, October 1, 2009 4:20 AM CDT
Wheels, rim knocked off farm equipment

EASTON An early evening accident Wednesday that involved a car and a combine sent a man to a shock trauma center and snagged traffic for several hours.

A Chrysler New Yorker collided head-on about 5:35 p.m. with a Case International combine that was traveling east on Dover Road near Black Dog Alley. The force of the accident caused the left front tires and the rim of the combine to come off.

A man from a nearby house said the noise of the collision was so loud he thought his garage had blown up.

Witnesses at the scene said the driver got out of his car and talked to them, reportedly nodding in and out of consciousness as he spoke. Other witnesses said the Chrysler swerved as it traveled west on Dover Road and eventually swerved into the oncoming combine.

The driver of the Chrysler was flown by Maryland State Police MedEvac helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

The driver of the combine remained at the scene, walking around and apparently uninjured.

State Highway Administration crews shut Dover Road at Black Dog Alley, while emergency responders closed Dover Neck Road near Dover Road for the MedEvac landing.

About five minutes after Trooper 6 left the scene with the Chrysler driver, a second accident on Black Dog Alley clogged that main artery back to Easton until about 7 p.m. Maryland State Police and Talbot County Sheriff's deputies responded to that accident that involved three vehicles.

An infant in a carrier, a small child and at least two other people were taken by ambulance from the scene. People in vehicles that snaked up and down Black Dog Alley talked about the accidents and the inability to get back to Easton as police reportedly had Dover Road closed for several hours.

Traffic along Black Dog Alley started moving again shortly before 7 p.m., after police and emergency responders had that second accident cleared.

Names of those involved were not available at presstime.

Very scary stuff. So many chemicals could cause this type of accident. Caustic soda, Nitric Acid and Sulfuric Acid come to mind. Sulfuric and Nitric will be more air born then caustic. Either with direct contact with the eye would be very bad news.
