Pete, Just because it is the most conservative is that totally right for the country, just because it is conservative. Sure you might not want abortion and agree with the NRA. Fine. But is this women ready to lead our country? Mayor of 7,000, Govenor for 2 yrs in Alaska. She is smart but is she in tune to the rest of the country?? The big question is. What if something happens to McCain?

I didn't see that JW.

McCain is a smart guy. I am concered about his health and age. Plus having his VP pick running the country if something happens to him. That worries me. At least Obama has picked a seasoned veteran. Whom can help in foreign affairs and realations.

Is this a joke??? I'm not sure i follow. You all would vote because a candidate is pretty.? Plus you believe she could run the country if something happen to McCain at his age of 72. With all the medical problems he has.

Just because she believes in no abortion and is a member of the NRA.

No, not because she is pretty. CC said that. As far as the other issues, they weigh pretty heavy to me. Not so much the gun issue, although I believe it is a right of every american to bear arms. Yes I believe she could run the country, she has at , least as much, or more experience than Obama.

She was the Mayor of 7,000 people and the Govenor for 2 years in Alaska. Alaska.... She is very in tune to Alaska problems but how in tune is she (God forbid if something happened to McCain)  to run the Country. That would be to scary. She might be smart and i think she is, but not to run this country.

I agree that she really is pretty. There are some funny videos out there now that show McCain checking out her butt while she is at the podium speaking: I keep expecting her to turn and say, "Hey! Vice President up here!"

This proves that your immediate attraction to candidates is completely superficial, much like Democrats in general, including their policies and decisions.  Your party has little to no substance.

This Palin uproar is because Democrats have finally realized that, not only are Republicans smarter and better leaders, we're also better looking, and the contrary thought is an aspect that has perpetuated your pop-culture, celebrity following.

We're also better lovers, fighters, and dancers.

Other than calling her a fundamental nutcase that replaced Huckabee because he's not female (that definitely is an opinion) the rest is pretty much just the facts, ma'am. (And I'll concede that I probably shouldn't have mentioned her child: there is a lot to talk about without dragging in that ugliness.)

Here clips of her flipflopping will be shown now!!!   Any one of Hill's supporters who vote for mccain are stupid to let themselves be manipulated by the enemy.   If they change their vote to mccain, and vote against everything they were voting for in the first place, who needs um.  We don't need people like that in the Democratic party, people who can be manipulated so easily to vote pro life when they have been for pro choice their whole livesETC.  I think mccain will be surprised that not that many women who supported Hill are stupid enough to fall for his last ditch effort to win.

Here is an interesting vote McCain ducked:

The question to ponder is, what if there was a vote to decide if $13.5 BILLION in TAX BREAKS for the OIL COMPANIES should go into oil alternatives such as solar and wind power instead of said TAX BREAKS?????   Would you want your Senator to vote yes?

Well there was a vote like that: RENEWABLE FUELS, CONSUMER PROTECTION AND ENERGY ACT OF 2007   U.S. SENATE ROLLL CALL VOTE.

JOHN MCCAIN DUCKED THIS VOTE.  IT NEEDED 60 TO PASS, AND THERE WERE 59 VOTES IN.  AS A RESULT, INSTEAD OF POWERING MILLIONS OF HOMES WITH CLEAN RENEWABLE ENERGY, WE ARE NOW GIVING EXXON MOBILE, AND OTHER OIL COMPANIES BILLIONS IN TAX BREAKS, WHEN THEY ARE MAKING WORLD RECORD SHATTERING PROFITS, NEVER BEFORE SEEN  IN THE HISTORY OF BIG OIL !!!!

IF HE IS ELECTED, BIG OIL WILL KEEP PROFITING AT RECORD LEVELS, AND WE, THE U.S. CONSUMERS WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO BUY OIL FROM THEM, WHEN WE COULD HAVE BEEN INVESTING IN SOLAR AND WIND POWER TECHNOLOGY.

MORE OF THE SAME IF MCCAIN IS ELECTED.  FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN, THINK ABOUT IT. DO NOT PUT A MAN IN OFFICE WHO IS DRIVEN BY BIG BUSINESS INSTEAD OF THE EVERYDAY MAN!!!!!  THINK OF YOUR KIDS AND GRAND KIDS.

The really hilarious news clips will be from about 2 months ago, where Biden, and both Clintons said many times that Obama was not ready to lead!

Believe me, they will be shown over and over and over again - I might even get sick of seeing them!............................not.

Just the simple fact that the liberals are going crazy over Palin tells me that McCain made the right choice.

The liberals have to pick on Palin as they know they can't win in Obama vs. McCain.

MacMom I think your statement over the child is over the line.  Again more liberal hate.  I don't think that too many 17 year olds give birth to babies with Down Syndrome.  It has been what two days and the libs are already spreading lies about the family.  I wounder how many "drive by" reporters are in Alaska trying to dig up any little thing about Palin that they can.

So, let's review:

Palin is a regular fundamental nutcase on the GOP ticket that the GOP would of course have to choose if the Presidential nominee didn't have enough Fetus Love cred. Mike Huckabee wasn't good looking or female enough, I guess.

Staunchly pro-life and doesn't believe in allowing abortions in cases of rape, incest, or the potential death of the mother.

Very little experience in politics that McCain met with only once.

She is 44 years old and had never traveled out of the country until last year: she never even held a passport until 2007, when someone suggested it might be a good idea to go to Iraq to visit the Alaskan National guardsmen who were serving.

And let's not even get into the rumors that her youngest child is actually her 16-year-old daughter's. Photographs of her at 8 months show no belly, while her child was out of school for months during the same period for "mono".

Just when I thought this election couldn't get any more interesting.

The idea on the thread was for big believers in the Dem's to state with specifics, from a show we all watched, what other of us are supposedly missing. You would think this thread would be loaded with identified specifics. There are none. If I am to interpret your comments, you even came away from the speeches with an empty bucket.

I am going to pick at you now Think.

Well, picking on me is the story of my life right now, lol.  Honest government, Homeland security, energy independence, affordable healthcare, a stable economy, equal rights and justice, retirement security... those are some of the lofty goals of the Dems. How do we as a country achieve those goals and help the middle class out of the slump, and help the poor without promoting welfare abuse? How in four short years? Or 8? And as in past years, how if you are fighting a congress that is of the opposing party? (If that becomes so) And how to achieve those goals if they fly in the face of big business interests?   You know, the limbs stem from the head... You want a strong stubborn leader like Bush to keep the bogeyman away. I want a compassionate, intelligent AND strong leader. Not some elitist dumb**s in the pocket of big business, and not one of his cronys. And if Obama wins and fails to live up to his lofty goals, then the joke's on me. It certainly won't be my first disappointment with our leader or our government.  I'm no political expert. I'm a human with emotions and hopes. I hate inequality. I hate when things aren't fair. I hate when big business screws the little guy. That's just me. A minion. The convention was like watching a Mattel Barbie fashion show with piped in "I'll tell you what you want to hear". And no doubt the Republican one will be just as bad. I just wish McCain would kiss his witchy looking wife once.
Good honest answers with no baloney. I was not going to pick on you too hard. I have met you a couple of times, you have even been to my house. Just looking for some honest Democratic points of discussion from the DNC. There, as you pointed out, were none.

This is very true. The waste of Government programs, is astronomical. Of Course all the Democrats want to do is just keep giving and giving. $35.00 a month rent, Electric subsidized, Eating crabs and drinking knotty head Gin in the Shade. Of course they will continue to vote democrat!

4Godncountry . . when I read your post that slur people the way they do, I have a real problem believing there's a Christian at the keyboard typing those post.

No slur, Just plain and simple truth. Jesus had a problem with the money changers in the temple. I believe if you read the story, he got out a whip, turned the tables over and ran them out. He had a problem with people making merchandise of others. The Scriptures also say that God hates an unjust scale. If any one is slurring, it would be you, towards me. Obviously your Idea of what a Christian Is does not line up with the Bible.

The poor? Is Choptank Ave in the rich section? Are you making the 5 million a year that John McCain considers the upper class? I am most amazed by the poor to middle class that vote straight Republican and think they are smart. Most don't make enough or pay enough taxes to benefit from the Republican platforms like the wealthy do. Do you really think you are paying enough taxes to support all of the programs you complain about? You are voting to help the rich. Now that is the stupid part of the Republican party that I am thinking about.

Don't you mean West End Ave., Shadow???

Why does it matter where CC lives?  Should we put out on here where you two live?

I'm saying that West End Ave.   Willis, Travers St etc. etc. etc.  and some of those streets out that way aren't rich like shadow implies, meaning that West End and all the rest have plenty of Republicans too.    So, one of you knows who CC is, and where he lives.  Good for you.  I do not need to know that.   If CC thinks all Democrats are poor just look around at the people in the Banner who attended the Democratic Crab Feast.   Some of most upstanding and wealthier citizens were in that photo if I recall.    If CC considers himself wealthy and that makes him a Republican, good for him.   He may be wealthy.  Good for him.   But if Shadow  thinks that there aren't any Republicans on  any of the streets mentioned,  he needs to wise up.   There are tons of poor republicans.  All Democrats are not poor.

Again I will not expect any of you liberals to answer my questions.  I will instead stand by for an emotional personal attack.  Oh yeah that is the other thing that you liberals are good at.

P.S. You are by far the dumbest person that posts things on here. It's no coincidence you are a brainless liberal freak;)

I took this little bit of lovely from the other thread to make the point that the "emotional personal attack" thing goes both ways. To say that it's only liberals is the sort of open-ended generalization that just stops cold any sort of reasonable debate.

I have endevored to keep my home address and my phone number private for years.  During my time on CPD, I made more than a few enemies.  A few of them took personal action against me by cutting tires on my vehicles or keying the paint job and such.  There were a few who made what I felt then and still feel were credible threats against my personal safety and or that of my family.  Some of those folks are on the street today, some probably still locked up and a few still in places like the state hospital.  I've been retired 10 yrs but still live with the worry of some disturbed individual looking me up for a payback.

Whether or not you agree with me or I with you on some of the hot button issues that are discussed on this forum, I would appreciate your not posting any info that can clue one or more of my old customers as to the location of my abode.

Google . . Sarah Palin "Abuse of Power"

Edited to add: For those of you that hate to google she is currently under an ethics investigation in AK. I guess she is a good fit for the party.

Bumped for Algrithm's benefit. A Republican who found it necessary to create a new ID to hi-jack a thread.

Of course she is.  That makes me like her even more.

The one thing that I think democrats do well is investigate.  Look at how many investigations that the dems have done since they took control of Congress.  How much time and money has been wasted on those "witch hunts".

All the dems do is run their mouths.  If is funny how you never heard in the press on how much of a failure Pelosi's "1st 100 days" were.  She didn't accomplish anything.  Why doesn't anyone talk about how the democraticly control Congress has a lower approval rating than the much left hated George W Bush?

So let me get this straight: Democrats are complaining about a potential situation where an inexperienced candidate will step in and become President on the GOP ticket, but completely embrace the idea of a marginally "higher level of experience" candidate definitely playing the role as Chief Executive on the Democratic ticket?

And by marginally, I am posing this question - what has Obama really done that catapults him to a more qualifying level of experience?

The answer - I invented the piano neck-tie; what has Obama done? NOTHING!
