Money that could have been invested elsewhere.
Another poor business decision.
This is one member of the Main Street board that needs to get off of the board.
God bless,
Pete
Just another outsider confirming what most of us allready know. They are abpve us but only in their mind.

Thanks farmer, the nice thing on these forums is that we( most of us) get along fine, even when we don't agree. Some have problems, but I ignore them. The problem is, that by adding the 2010 vote for change at the bottom, one, is in essence ,being swayed to vote against those listed on the sign, and for those that are not listed.
Mr. Travers is a huge supporter and ex-officio member of Mainstreet. He is also a huge supplier of restaurant supplies to downtown restaurants and businesses (including the county). He is a county commissioner and member of the Liquor board. If anyone should be voted out it is him. can we say.......conflict of interest???? HMMM????

I see Mainstreet is at it again, just in time for the up-coming election season. The sign in the Window of 450 Race St, is ridiculous, at best. This really shows who is trying to run not only the City (they are mostly at the helm there now), but also the County, and the Liquor Board. The facetious poster is in poor taste, and constitutes "the endorsement of certain candidates" (those not mentioned). Given the Sate charter for Mainstreet organizations, this is something that should be frowned upon ( a copy is already en-route to the proper watchdog groups that oversee this type of nonsense).
Mainstreet should stay out of politics. Period. but,I suppose Mainstreet is going to try to sway the up-coming elections and put their own "Manchurian candidates" in office, much like the city elections.
I have already thanked Mr. Nichols, Mr. Price, and Mrs. Elzey, as well as Mrs Dolan, Saunders, and Mrs. Satterfield for a Job WELL DONE! You do not deserve to be treated in the manner that you are. Keep up the good work...you have mine, and many others vote in 2010.
Well, maybe we should not blame Main Street. Maybe just certain people who are immature.
They were too immature to do their homework in the first place.
They were too immature to think of another solution -- like a restaraunt that serves alcohol is the ONLY THING that can go there despite the fact there was something else there in previous years.
So, I surmise they are immature enough to put up that rediculous petty sign.
God bless,
Pete
The sign is in the building that the developer (also a Mainstreet board member) owns.

What did the sign say? To be fair, I'd have to take a pic of the sign or jot it down word for word. (see 4GNC's reply to you below. It is more accurate.)
Essentially it sarcasticaly (sp?) says, thank Price, Nichols, and Elzey, of the County Council, and Saunders, and I forget the other two names, for the "this restaurant here at 450 Race." Of course there is none there.
That's not the anyone's fault but the business people trying to put in that restaraunt for not checking the law like they are supposed to.
God bless,
Pete

It thanks County commissioners Elzey, Price and Nichols, and Liquor Board Members Saunders, Satterfield and Dolan, for the restaurant at 450 Race St. then adds to Vote for Change in the 2010 Dorchester county Elections. A childish, facetious and politically motivated sign.

The sign should thank the developer for not checking out Maryland state law concerning the 300 ft buffer with a Church or School, before applying to the Liquor board for a License that they could not grant, without breaking state law.
