In addition we have people (as i am typing this) at the cafe (they just got married) so for now I get them at Lintons. These people drove 3 hours because they had a brochure listing all the places to eat crabs in crisfield. They are now thrilled and plan to come back next month.
Our guests over the weekend were surprised to have such a great state park that had so many people participating in various activities, near a town that looked so deserted and empty. I hooked them up with Dalmarva Paddlers since some of them would be at Jane's at the same time.
We send monthly newsletters with links to guests/customers highlighting the crisfield events webpage and look forward to both couples' return to Crisfield.

| Hopefully Side Street (can't remember new name) will have them. They have the huge steamer outside so they are set up for it. The deck outside upstairs is perfect and also the tables downstairs were nice. (if you are reading - please put them on the menu) Looking forward to Memorial day weekend to see the new menu. YUM YUM

| Anyone else have a suggestion for crabs locally for our guests? As a B&B we are very limited regarding our permitted use otherwise, we would cook them ourselves. I am looking for somwehwere guests can sit down and enjoy a dozen or two steamed crabs in the crab capital. Any suggestions???? Last edited on Mon May 4th, 2009 02:02 pm by bluecrabgardencafe

| ermmm bluecrab, ahaha..why do crisfielder's need to go somewhere to eat crabs??? you are forgetting we can cook them home an eat them there. We don't pay high dollar for crabs like other places to. Ask Phillip's crab house and Marjory of seafood places in the city's where they get their crabs, it sure isn't locally. maybe your the one who should research before your speak. Maybe you should of open a crab house instead of a coffee shop? bad business decision???

How does luck have anything to do with turning a computer on? Downtown Revitalization - can we get back to it?
I believe the city council will handle the downtown area and hopefully, from that (using the same theme, manufacturers, designs) Uptown will get revitalized also and in a similar fashion.
As part of the revitalization in the Crab Capital.....guests often ask about sitting down and eating crabs within the city because they heard that the best crabs are here but cannot find a place to enjoy them (a/k/a spend their money in our city and leave). I am not from Baltimore, but I do know plenty of places in Baltimore (you obviously think all those from Baltimore are morons) to eat Maryland crabs and Annapolis as well --- is there anywhere in the Crab Capital?
What I have noticed is that many blue crabs from VA/NC/LA are harvested and brought here.....even Indonesian crabs are processed here. Are you sure you were born and 'raise' in Crisfield?

| Well bluecrab, Some people are just lucky to even know how to turn on a computer....Right passing thru an latedah..or latedurrr. If these clowns haven't noticed yet, is that THE BLUE CRAB is the only crab we harvest here. Not snow crab, kingcrab or fiddler crab. Maybe they should just close the bridge down, Enough Baltimoron's here!!!

latedah -- I knew; it was a tongue in cheek joke....glad you noticed. The one for this county last I checked, had not been updated in years.
I never said I was the best; simply that that's what I did. The web designer you refer to does not currently offer customers the ability to own and update their own webs....many businesses want control and/or ownership of their websites; which is something I give to those I do websites for. With businesses I have different emails so it depends which one is open when I sign on.....did not mean to confuse you, but I always sign my name at the end of postings. The anonymity of using the forum should not be used to hide.....so if you are so concerned about these issues, why not sign your own name when posting?
Thanks for the recommendation to stick to petunias.....perhaps you should stick to hiding.

How tooooo funny! A web developer?
Have you clicked on your Somerset County Arts link?
( http://www.somersetarts.com/ ) It takes you to Somerset County in the UK
We have a great local web designer right near you at Goldsborough's Marine. Better stick to your petunias.
How many ID's do you need on this one forum anyhow?

Yes, oldandhappy -- I am on the corner you speak of.....counter opinions help create innovation, besides for every one there have been 50 positive and hopeful well-wishers (yourself included). This is afterall, an open, public forum and free speech is encouraged, which is why love this country!
I was actually surprised to see my response (albeit, not what I was responding to) show up on the chairs of our last night's city council meeting. It was not an item on the agenda, was not raised by anyone in public input..........just appeared neatly stapled on the chairs - so I understand what I am up against and it now and then reminds me of years ago in highschool. I like the positive message: it confirms people in crisfield use computers and navigage the internet for news on what is going on with 112 people viewing this thread.
We also own a bed and breakfast in the same town (now you must think I am really crazy for investing so much in the same town) -- but our business depends on out of state visitors and our military connections. Plus, as a previous consultant for feds in system integration, we also design websites that are not dependent on local economics to support, so its a balance.
Please stop by the Blue Crab Cafe and have some coffee with me some time!

Hi, The Blue Crab - is that on the corner where the Cove rest. and PascoProp? I am only in Crisfield on weekends - I have great hopes but if some of the locals (Sal in particular) don't get positive - it doesn't look to good. Good luck and much success. I support the small businesses in and out of town. Need places to eat and just sit and enjoy the small town atmosphere. If anyone is looking for excitement - go to Ocean City (or there abouts) I was not raised in Crisfield but chose to relocate.

Firstly, the person that has a problem with someone from across the bridge doing something in Crisfield (the revitalization, the conceptual drawings, the new business either up town or downtown).......Its called volunteerism, community pride and at least that person is doing something. Please show up and participate at the meetings if you have something that would add value to the revitalization efforts or check it out thoroughly before offering criticism (http://www.friendsofcrisfield.org)
Also, I wanted to be uptown and really tried. Unfortunately as a business person the one building Ms. Marquis(me) wanted to operate from would not enter a commercial lease agreement and I could not afford to buy any of the others as I am still trying to renovate rather than gut and rebuild our house in Crisfield. Plus, since we have a neighbor that complained about us using our driveway (we deeded her access), the zoning board insisted we put another one in. We were told we had until Nov 7 on the variance but then they said we could not have guests until the new driveway was put in so now we are struggling in the worst rainy times, working in 3 feet of mud to get it in. But lets keep going....
As far as the Blue Crab venture goes.... Did you know I have scheduled speakers that will discuss indigionous plants, various garden types and themes? Did you know I am hosting monthly wine tastings focused on local wineries? Two for Tea on Tuesdays? Fondue Fridays? Sushi Saturdays. And yes, since there is no where to sit down and eat crabs in the Crab Capital I will probably do that too. Many coffees and teas as well along with cappucino and expresso.
The view of the sunset is great on the deck.....yes its right on main street. Hopefully the locals can handle a right turn without plowing into the customers. ...
Blue Crab Garden Cafe opens May 1 but the garden shop is open now with tomato, brussle sprout, pepper plans, many flowers azaleas, lilies, rose bushes, ferns and other mixed basket options. Plus we have sodas and juices. The produce gets delivered next week so check us for tomatos and corn and lopes - I am supporting LOCAL farmers and watermen.
I love Crisfield too. I call Crisfield home. I am now your neighbor - like it or not.

Latedah, it doesn't matter where people are from...what matters is vision and how they are trying to accomplish it. Our main street is a complete embarrassment and this group is hoping to change that by making our street more accessible to locals and tourists. And while we are on the subject, are you one of those "born & raised here" people who don't want to see any change and have no input from anyone not within city limits. I think that's the same attitude most townspeople had for years...and you can see where they got the town.
As far as the "Blue Crab place" I haven't been there yet, but plan to next week. Unfortunately most of Crisfield's waterfront property is currently taken up by marshland or un-sellable condos. (When you see the same properties for sale 5 years later, that's probably a sign you should lower the price.)

| Am I the only one who noticed that we now have 2 "Blue Crab" outfits? Couldn't the new one come up with anything different? If your serving food why would you want to eat a blue crab? How about "Hot Steamed Crab" ??

| Hopefully the Tiki bar will be a nice place to sit and have a drink. I was there early in the evening and it was nice. I guess later in the evening things get loud. as for the busines in "uptown" who are you talkiing about - i don't know. the revitalization plan looks a little extreme for a quiet area like Crisfield, I wish the powers that be would just try to preserve the quaint nature of the city and not try to turn it into an Ocean City (not going to happen-no beach and I am glad about that) Keep a positive attitude. Am looking forward to the restaurant and bar opening Memorial day. See you there.

Great, another conceptual drawing of what someone from across the bridge wants our town to look like. We could mulch the newly created park with the paper on which all the other plans have been printed. Isn't this creator the same person who, instead of opening a business in downtown, has opened one in the uptown instead? Where's the faith in your own plan? I heard this is supposed to be a bar and garden shop? Another bar? And practically on the sidewalk? Once the Tiki is reopened, a piece of Crisfield history reclaimed, the pub crawl!
