| WHATEVER HAPPEN TO THE ADOPT A HIGHWAY PROGRAM. MAYBE THE CITY SHOULD HAVE A ADOPT THE STREET PROGRAM. THE PROBLEM ISN'T GETTING SOLVED BY COMPLAIN ABOUT IT. LET THE CITY BUY TRASH BAGS AND HAUL IT AWAY AND THE VOLUNTEER'S PICK IT UP.

| When Woodson still had middle schoolers, they used to clean out the ditches for community service... maybe volunteers in high-school (in need of community service) should start cleaning them...

| Yes,theres always alot of litter in the ditches around Woodson.I know with the economy and other issues that it may be trivial to complain about litter, but not only is it aesthetically unattractive,it is harmful to our waterways and wildlife.

| I don't ride past the area much anymore, but I remember a few years ago the ditches by Woodson were some of the most polluted in the area. Is this section within town limits? The ditches were mostly filled with food, beer bottles, etc. I've also been behind a few cars on Old State Road that just threw stuff out the window. My favorite is when you see fast food bags from places that don't exist in Crisfield.

| I can believe that-I have seen nasty diapers just thrown on the ground out in the open around here. And chicken bones, napkins, soda bottles.People are gross, and since there is no deterrent to littering they just dump it where they feel like it.

I once asked City Manager Caby Dize why McDonald's didn't have an adequate number of trash cans on the parking lot. He said that McDonalds' claims that people fill them with baby diapers, and all kind of other non-McDonalds trash. Hence they do the minimum which is required, and you have McDonalds' trash all over town!
Well, is there a law? I'm assuming they are mandated by health department regs to have trash receptacles in the bathrooms, and inside of the business... Well, I guess it's time for a City of Crisfield regulation mandating that any carryout have a trash receptacle outside of their business.
Small towns that do due diligence during the strategic planning stage of their redevelopment, often design receptacles that are emblematic ot the town - like maybe something like a crab or a boat?
Either way, a darn trash can at a 7-11 is a given, what makes Crisfield Mickey D's special? And while we're at it, lets get progressive, and outlaw plastic bags too. They are bad for fish, birds, and vegetation!
Crisfield should be setting an example in areas like this as a small town located directly on the Chesapeake Bay!

What must WE think of us if we have no pride in our town that we will toss trash on the streets? Very sad really.

| What must tourists visiting the area think of us when they see trash everywhere, from the rural backroads to the gutters on city streets? The derelict properties are bad enough but all the garbage is the cherry on top.All the ditches and sewer grates drain into OUR waterways. I would like to see littering laws more strictly enforced so that we can continue to enjoy the natural resources our area has to offer. Last edited on Sun Jun 7th, 2009 11:47 pm by Vavoom
