And who is supervising these kids?If one of these children were to collide with a car the parents would be ready to sue their pants off.It just isn't safe.
The issue here is the capability of the operator of the scooter, atv, etc. I see several older people operating these vehicles, and NEVER having a problem. If an ADULT is operating the vehicle, then WHAT'S the problem? To SOME people this is the ONLY WAY they have to get around. It is out-and-out WRONG to  take that away from those who are careful and competent.

i've seen them over 25... on your way to the BEACH. then it's 35. scooters and golf carts are perfectly safe if you know how to operate them.

I apologize justwondering if i seemed arrogant but I firmly believe that these vehicles are dangerous and your right, it always seems like they get away with it and a police officers are never "in the right spot at the right time". Just curious, where have you seen one over 25?

I believe this is suppose to be for people voicing their thoughts or opinions.  I simply stated I would like to see golf carts allowed, I didn't mean for them to take over the 'strip'.  Yes, bends and turns are dangerous, but if the cops in town would do their job instead of running up and down the strip pulling over and chatting with friends those drivers would slow down and follow the speed limits.

And yes, I have been to Chincoteague, and next time look again, there are indeed speed limit signs ABOVE 25!  So before you slam me, know the facts!

Any non-tagged motorized vehicles are supposed to be riding on the shoulder just as they would a bike if I am not mistaken.I have seen kids skateboarding across Maryland & Richardson, which is just plain dangerous!

Golf carts are not registered vehicles therefore should not be on the roads. I am sorry but there are too many idiots who ride them in the middle of the road or just don't know how to be safe. Countless times I have witnessed golf carts on roads with bends and turns and that is just plain dangerous to both drivers! Chincoteague only allows scooters (which have to stay under 25 mph) and Virginia doesn't have the same laws as us, plus Chincoteague is an island. Have you checked out the speed there? It's 25......everywhere.

If you want to live somewhere where people can drive whatever they want, move to Smith Island.

It would seem to me that golf carts are allowed in Crisfield since I see so many of them. However, Maryland Avenue and Richardson Avenue are state roads. I believe that they do not allow golf carts (state law, not local). Untagged scooters are also apparently allowed. I just wish that the people that drive the scooters would realize that they have the same rights as bicyclists, not tagged vehicles. They should be riding on the side of the road.

I think golf carts are fine too.  Of course they should only be used by adults, but in a small town like Crisfield, I honestly think they should be allowed on the roads, it saves money when running short errands with gas being so costly.  With Food Lion coming soon,  how great it would be to take the cart to get your groceries instead of having to drive your car.  Chincoteague is a small town and they allow untagged carts to travel, why not Crisfield??????????

I think the best one was when I saw someone fourwheeling down my road without a shirt or helmet, in the rain....
