New emergency room opens this fall, existing emergency care services thrive By Don Evans, Chief Executive Officer
One of our community’s greatest assets is dependable and accessible EMERGENCY ROOMS. Increasingly, we rely upon emergency care when there is a crisis or when our doctor is tied up and unable to see us. For 25 years Banner Baywood Medical Center has provided effective emergency services to the citizens of the far East Valley.
Three years ago we added inpatient beds and changed the process by which our patients are seen by the emergency room physician. These changes speed up the time it takes to see a physician to an average of just around 30 minutes. In the meantime, the Banner Baywood Emergency Room receives high marks from former patients who express satisfaction with their experience with us.
This October, our facility will open a brand new emergency room. The 50,000 square-foot-space will be double the size of our current facility. The $38.5 million department will include state-of-the-art technology with its own CT scanner, all private rooms and an ambience that will afford patient comfort under otherwise trying circumstances. Once complete, the new ER will feature 54 private patient rooms complete with bedside computers for electronic charting and a host of guest amenities including flat-screen televisions.
An open house for the community will be held in late September. Please stay tuned for more information on this event. We will invite you and your families for a free tour and light refreshments so you can get acquainted with the new space first hand.
In the meantime you can feel at ease coming to the campus, despite our construction. We have free valet drivers to park your car so that you can gain access to our emergency services just as soon as possible. The presence of Banner Heart Hospital, a recurrent Top 100 Hospital immediately adjacent to us, and the only accredited Stoke Center in the East Valley at Banner Baywood, should give you added comfort that your medical needs will be met.
We have appreciated your recurrent trust in our emergency care team the past 25 years and look forward to serving your emergency care and other health care needs in the decades to come.
