A kind heart and an empathetic ear are the main requirements for serving as a volunteer for Hospice of the Valley, a not-for-profit that cares for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Duties include listening and talking with patients, reading, playing cards, running errands or sitting with a patient while the family caregiver takes a break.
A training session will be held July 7 through July 30, meeting from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursdays at Hospice of the Valley’s East Clinical Office, 777 W. Southern Ave., Ste. 301, Mesa, AZ 85210. Registration is required: 602-636-6336.
