Josh’s Story

Josh Wills was born in 1976 in Mesa, Arizona. ]When he was 8 months old, his mother call the doctor after hours and they told her to wait until morning to bring him into the office.  After laying Josh down to sleep, she woke and instantly knew something was wrong.  She ran into Josh’s room and immediately drove him to the emergency room.  As she carried him in the front doors, he stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest.  Fortunately, the emergency staff was able to revive him.  While he was in intensive care, his pediatrician’s nurse realized that she had gone to school with a relative whose children had Cystic Fibrosis and their symptoms were similar to Josh’s.  Josh was tested and diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.  From that moment, Josh had another chance at life and somehow seemed to know how to be a fighter with the many challenges that CF would bring.

Josh has worked hard all of his life to be as outgoing and live as normally as possible, but CF is a hereditary disease that affects primarily the lungs and digestive track. ]It causes an over production of mucus that leads to consistent lung infections.  At 4 years old, Josh was asked to be the CF poster child.  He was able to meet the Phoenix Suns and it made such a great impact on his life.  From that time forward, he tried to keep up with his friends as much as he could.  He became a great skateboarder, rollerblader, and snowboarder.  His doctors were amazed at his abilities despite his health challenges.

Josh met Jen as he was working and going to college. ]Jen knew right from the beginning that Josh was someone special and could bring such brightness into the world.  A year later they were married.  Josh worked full time for Salt River Project and strived to always do his best.  He worked until his body could not work anymore.  He literally, gave a part of his life to provide for his family.  Eventually, he did have to stop working and concentrate on trying to get better again.

Josh and Jen wanted a family and 2 years ago their family was blessed with twin girls. ]Josh is the best Dad in the world.  He loves his family more that live itself.  He will not give up and he will do what it takes to live for his family.  Josh’s doctors have told him that he is now in need of a double lung transplant to eliminate CF from his lungs.  Josh does have health insurance but it does not cover all of the needs.  Jen will need to take off 3 months to be with Josh in Tucson for the transplant.  They estimate that it will cost $45,000 for the required 3 month stay.

If you could find a place in your heart to help this loving family in their need it would be much appreciated. ]Contact: http://www.joshandjenwills.com.
