INTERFAITH RECEIVES TONS DONATED
BY VULCAN MATERIALS
Surprise, Ariz. – A generous donation, in the form of 75 tons of sand, came last week to Interfaith Community Care’s first childcare center, Wirtzie’s Child Development Center, from Vulcan Materials.
“The community has been very excited about our latest project, not only for our first childcare center, but also for the built-in intergenerational program that brings elders and children together,” said Pam Grigsby Jones, vice president of program operations. “Vulcan’s donation of sand is in perfect timing as we finish up construction on the children’s playground.”
Wirtzie’s Child Development Center is located within Interfaith Community Care’s Hellen and John M. Jacobs Independence Plaza at 16752 N. Greasewood St., Surprise, AZ 85374. Also in the plaza is Lucy Anne’s Place, an adult day center for those with early to moderate Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The intergenerational program is designed to bring the older adults and the children together for purposeful and positive interactions, improving self-esteems and bringing joy to all involved.
Vulcan Materials Company is the nation's leading producer of aggregates -- crushed stone, sand and gravel -- that are used in virtually all forms of construction. Vulcan is also a major producer of asphalt and ready-mixed concrete.
“Vulcan strives to be a valued member of the communities in which it has operations and works to help make those communities stronger by producing quality products and through employee involvement and charitable contributions,” said Atisthan Roach, of Vulcan Materials.
