INTERFAITH IS ALWAYS IMPROVING

Northwest Valley, AZ – Interfaith Community Care was presented with an award from the Social Service Contractors Indemnity Pool (SSCIP) “in recognition of outstanding achievement and continued excellence in risk management and control of losses.”  In addition to a certificate, Interfaith also
received a small cash donation for the organization.

“We are proud of our employees for helping us to achieve this award,” said Interfaith President and CEO Michelle Dionisio, “It is because of their safety and risk management practices that we received this honor.”

SSCIP’s mission is “to maximize safety and minimize losses for social service providers and their clients and to help ensure availability of a provider community by offering stable insurance options and promoting risk management practices.”

In addition to employees lessening accidents among themselves, they have also decreased the number of accidents involving participants in their day centers.  In 2007 Interfaith saw 59 falls in its day centers and only 32 in 2008.

Interfaith strives to encourage independence among its day center participants while ensuring their safety.  One way in which this is done is by having no more than 30 participants in a center at one time.  Satisfaction surveys are distributed to all Interfaith Adult Day Center participants and their caregivers annually, in addition to one a month after enrollment and a month after discharge.  Interfaith Community Care has an 84% retention rate in its adult day centers.  100% of people surveyed said they would refer Interfaith to family and friends.  100% of participants said they feel the day centers’ staff treats them with dignity and respect.  In 2007 79% of caregivers and participants surveyed felt day center activities were purposeful.  That number increased to 95% in 2008.  There was also a jump from 83% in 2007 to 99% in 2008 in opinions that the day centers provide useful community resources to caregivers.

Interfaith Community Care is a non-denominational, not-for-profit, community-supported human services agency providing care services for seniors and disabled adults since 1981. For more information on services call 623-584-4999 or visit http://www.interfaithcommunitycare.org
