AtLost, Alasss...senario #1...a thief breaks into my home, takes my money & my mirror, but leaves me a note that doesn't appologize, but says I will be the 'better for it!'...and he took the mirror, so that I won't have to see me cry because I can't afford my medicine(that alows me to survive as a 'normal' human being, living in my own house, on my own property, doing my own things, that I used to be able to afford...)...such a 'nice' human being, doing things for me that I myself don't want to do...even tho he takes all my money...medicine...entertainment...food...but the thief was just really thinking what was best for me...to bad I am so stupid, that I had to take care of myself all my life, til I retired...bought my own house & property...in a community...that used to be quiet, peaceful, people busy doing what they wanted to do...even tho I have lived here for a very long time, that 'Mr. King-Crook, that moved in lately down the street, he says that I just haven't done anything right...he must be right, he is always happy, even tho he always has lots of sand in his hair, nose, eyes, ears...wonder where he stick's his head... hmmmmmmm ...wait a minute, where did he get his 'brown' sand?????????????...it sure stinks...ct

Dorothy responds to Alas:

Someone's apparently gored Mr. M. to close to the bone...poor baby!  You bet those who don't owe this club dues should not pay any dues, unless they want to be a member, or join to protect their property from further pillaging, as I did.

The "neighbors" who signed the petition will soon find that it was not a vote to accept a document they had never seen, and become a part of an HOA, that had never been mentioned.  Fraud is a crime.  Misrepresenting anything either by the making of false and misleading statements couched in terms that deceive, or by the ommission of material facts, constitutes fraud.

I await your response to Loafing and laundry?  light and literacy?  love and living?  long or lean?  shall I go on?  Dorothy7  Maybe it's loving llamas?

Gang:   Has anyone you know ever advised a resident to not pay their dues and to join with you and challenge the mandatory membership.  And as a result they recieved notices of failure to pay?  And as a result they are in a situation they are not enjoying?

How could this have been avoided?

It could have been done the Happy way!

Obey the rules and then challenge the rules, take the rules to court, when the dust settles,  Peace be Still!

We will never know where we would be today if R & C had been members when they challenged the rules will we?

Dreamlandman:  No hurt feelings!

You left out the part about the Board (the board couldn't make it happen) voted to ask the Club ( the Club couldn't make it happen) to vote to approach the residents ( only the residents could make it happen)  about making the membership mandatory! The residents made it happen.  The Club volunteers went door to door in each zone until 50% + 1 of the residents in that zone signed on!  All but 1 zone agreed! The residents made it happen!  It was the residents final say.

If a person wasn't asked, either they weren't home or the number of signatures needed were already recieved !

The procedures made be questioned, the results maybe challenged but your neighbors in the Club and on the Board were guided by a legal advisor!  Agree or disagree with results these are property owners in the community just like you and they are retired people on fixed incomes just like you!  To say they don't care about the property values is wrong, it is their property values also!

Now that it is in the courts all we can do is wait for the results.

So enjoy the nice quite streets, well groomed yards and friendly neighbors!

I went to Sea World and the San Diego Zoo with my grandsons family.  We had a Happy time there just as I have Happy times here in Dreamland.  The six and three year old greatgrandsons treat people they don't know better than you do!

I enjoy living in Dreamland with great friends, relatives and facilities.  As I said before " when the dust settles"  I will go on living MY life!  Maybe that is what bothers you!

I point out that the residents in Dreamland are people that live here because of what it has to offer, they are decient people, many volunteer to work in the community, many enjoy the facilities and the activities offered.

I haven't figured out why you moved here yet, but am getting close to the reason.  I think it may have been the value for your dollar at the time.  One of the reasons I moved here!  With all of the other benefits, I haven't regreted it in the least!

dorothy responds:

YOU WILL!!!  I will add only that except for the silly notion that "many volunteer and participate", you have a right to enjoy DV's facilities at your own expense.  No one else owes you a dime for you shows, your swimming, your friends or any other aspect of your life here.  That is the reality you refuse to face.

The overwhelming majority have no interest in the club, or its facilities.  They have bought their homes, paid for them with their own money, and retired to the lives they chose.

Most of them are unaware that the club has unlawfully claimed an interest in their property, and is going to be billing them one day for dues, so that a tiny fraction of the owners can party hearty at the very inadequate facilities.

Maybe you would like for me to bill you for my season tickets to the opera, or my membership in various animal rights groups?  Or maybe you'd like to pony up for the other clubs to which my mother and I belong?  Maybe you'd even like to buy my season tickets to the Diamondbacks?  Hmmm?  Dorothy

Dorothy,

Poor Babel on and on and on will never get it!  One can not expect and unarmed person to will a dual, and one can not expect a brainless twit to win a debate.  It has some weird kind of thought process and the only thing important to it is to have a good time and party on in Nightmare Villa.

Dear Alas:  I think I have made it abundantly clear that as the board's parliamentarian, I resigned along with 5 other members, when the majority went along with Maryanne Glauner, Jim Cook, et al...(who are still there...) when they decided to hire a man whom I regard as a charlatan, as their attorney to "guide" them in attacking our original declarations on the sneak.  No, I did not participate in any unlawful acts, nor did those who complied with the legal advise we received from more informed sources.
That is why there are so many lawsuits pending.  Maxwell will continue to invite lawsuits for which the club members will continue to pay his fees indefinitely.  That is his business.  Duh!  Dorothy7

And those on the board and other volunteers have recieved, threat and defamatory attacks " R:  asked if I was afraid to identify myself for that reason"  Beep Beep why would HE ask that?

The board "probably"  rigged!  I could say that at one time you were on the board and you " Probably" did some questionable things.   How many illegal things did you do in the time you were on the board?  PROBABLY NONE!  The board membership changes once a year  with that many different people involved they have to use the guide lines!

The drive by media uses " probablies"  to make points that really aren't there.

You are also wrong about the injustices heaped on boards...

They have claimed an interest in property in which they have no legal interest.

They have liened property in which the owner has not intered into a legal agreement  with the club to allow them to do so.

They are now demanding thousands of dollars from people who owe them nothing, and threatening them with foreclosure and eviction in violation of the owner's rights under law, and claiming powers they do not legally possess to harrass and intimidate their neighbors.

They have committed so many outrageous violations that I simply do not have time to list them all herein...against their neighbors.

You, sir or madam, as the case may be, are allowing yourself to participate in these unjust, unfair and unlawful acts...and in the abuses of sick elderly and defenseless people.

If this makes you happy...so be it.  Your responsibility is to stand against these abuses and unlawful siezures of power that are used to steal money from your neighbors, as a law abiding citizen.  That's it.

Whatever I've lost in these past three years, I am confident it has not been my understanding of the issues here, or the duty you have as a member to help put a stop to the Board's usurpations of property rights, and violations of their neighbor's civil rights.   Dorothy7

(I received 17 magazines to which I had not subscribed in one week.  I also received catalogues for which I had supposedly asked.  24 in all, and piles of information from various hotels, tourist bureau info, resort pamphlets. and cruise ship advertisements.)  Who sent them?  Who knew how to put our names on that list?

My postman finally told me how to request a hold on those things and an automatic return to sender.

Again...your protestations of bliss at the sight of the rising sun, creates suspicion.

Happy citizens of America riding the tide kept slavery in place in this country for years.

The sun rose on those in shackles at that time.

Citizens not making waves, allowed the Barbarians to overcome a happy, but degenerate population  in the Roman Empire.

The sun rose on the last days of Rome, and every day thereafter, and their conquerers.

When the dark ages enveloped them, the sun rose every savage, brutal day.

Not taking up the cause of justice and humanity against tyranny and injustice guarantees that life becomes nasty, brutish and short...to quote Churchill, but the sun will rise the morning after...

As it did for the Jews who stood by as their neighbors were abused and mistreated, and hauled off to concentration camps...

The sun rose on them the day afterward...

I should not have to remind any thinking person our age that accepting injustice to others guarantees injustice to all.

Grow up dear.  Your too old to cling to such foolishness.  That's what Hemingway meant in the title to his book "The Sun Also Rises"...the rest of that quote is:
"on the just and the injust."

Think about these matters before you unleash your next barage of mindless twattle, in which you infer that "your choice of happiness" is your excuse for allowing your neighbors to suffer.  Dorothy7

1. THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON

I am happy as justice grinds down the oppressors and the victims are rewarded by the courts!  I am happy when I see that those who have stolen from the infirm and elderly, and all the rest of us, are getting their just desserts.  Ah, the feeling of glee!!!  The joy that knoweth no bounds!
Hurry Alas...you might miss Maryanne or Jim singing or dancing or mouth syncing...or a casserole.
Me, I like the writings of the Judges...they truly sing!  Like "Dreamland Villa Community Club is not a planned community, nor an association."  What prose!  Lifts my spirits to the zenith of joy!
There's more...much more on the way.  It's truly like the Declaration of Independence records...that God and nature intend for man to be free, and when that joyous day arrives that we are free of the shakles of this silly club and their false documents, our hearts will once again sing.  Dorothy7

Good stuff Dorothy, you see Bable on and on does just that and makes no sense with its reply when was the last time I went fishing at Red Mtn Park?  Just like most of its replys, this one makes no sense.  Unless it is trying to say I don't know how to enjoy my life.  My life would be much more enjoyable if the stupid club would give up the mandatory membership thing and all that has come with it.  But then Bable would have to admit all is not happy in NIghtmare Villa and that would be a quantum leap for it to make.  So true happiness has to come from within and has nothing to do with taking up a cause and being passionate in that cause.  So does that make you happy Bable??????

There is a question that occurs to me everytime someone tells me that they are "happy".  Do you mean "content"?  Do you mean 'blissful".  To you mean that feeling of accomplishment when you finish a task well, or create something of beauty?  Or do you mean that deep sense of gratitude that swells inside when you see your children well and busy with their chosen activities, or doing something for others, or achieving some goal?  I have never known what people mean when they lay claim to "happiness".
I suspect most of them mean an absence of immediate sorrow when you reach our age.
This year, for example, our family has suffered some terrible losses...(deaths of friends and family members who are near and dear to us...and another who is seriously ill as I type these words.  Perhaps milling around the club houses, or going fishing erases sorrow and grief...for you.
Oddly enough, Nightmaresville nor Dreamland Villa, nor the club, nor the neighbors and friends I have there are responsible for my happiness or lack thereof.
It seems to me, dear Alas, that you are really trying too hard to convince me, (and perhaps yourself?) that constant diversion will bring you happiness. Think about it.  Dorothy7

Tonto:      Only 6 people respond to any of the sites, it is like standing in the grocery check out line, all you see is the latest gossip and distortions.   I respond to the sites trying to keep some sunshine in the gloom!  Most people in the community go about   enjoying their choice of life style.  Everything is shut down for the summer months so it is quite in the hood!

Alasbabylon started the following Forum:

HAPPY IN DREAMLAND VILLA:  Share your enjoyment of living in Dreamland.

It doesn't appear that anyone except Alas has any enjoyment to share.  Doesn't that tell you something, Alas?

Babel on and on and on and on,

Poor Babel, he/she can only understand simple first grade liberal thoughts.  The truth batteries are gone for sure and the mind will follow if it hasn't allready.  Alas believe we all should pay for his/her club and activities and that is a good thing. NOT.  No way, when snow falls in Phoenix will I pay the club any dues voluntarialy. You guys are nuts!  Period.

You would be better served, dear Alas, to read the Tribune, attend legislative hearings, and/or take a remedial course in civics.
No privately held entity (non-profit corporation) has taxing authority.  Not this silly club...or the Kiawanas, or the Elks, or the Rotary Club...all are exactly the same as DVCC.  Non-profit, voluntary civic or social clubs!Perhaps you would like to have anyone of these private, voluntary clubs attach an interest on your property in the dead of night, because a majority of their members decided that they want more dues?
I think not.  Dorothy7

Alasssss...this will be in simple words so that even you with your limited capacity wil/can understand...

WE ARE ALL CITIZENS, THEREFORE WE ARE ALL SUPPOSED TO PAY, WHETHER WE USE THEM OR NOT...In the DVCC, we are NOT members, therefore...

WE ARE NOT PAYING!...ever!!!

...is that 'simple' enough, even for you???...CT

dorothy responds:  Dear alas:  No one is trying to deny your pleasure in membership.  We dissidents have never sought to limit your access to the facilities...nor do we expect you to be miserable while you are pot-lucking or gossiping, or giving each other awards for your "hard work".

You, and your gang however, insist that we pay for your pleasure, or risk losing our homes.  We do not wish to do so, and will not.

Now that the homestead exemption has been restored to all owners of DV lots, and HOAs will no longer be able to foreclose on property, by law...you're just going to have dig deeper into you own pocket for the kind of amenities you want.

I would like to say it's been nice knowing you all...but it has not.  I would never find anything in common with you, or your buddies, nor can I forgive the pain and terror you have inflicted on my elderly sick friends.  What in the world ever possessed you people to do such terrible harmful things to your neighbors?  Dorothy7

Oh!!!Alassssss...what makes you or anybody think that the 'tail can wag the dog'?

1-When you need a membership to belong to a group... THAT IS A 'PRIVATE CLUB'...'enjoyed' by the members, ONLY!!! (And in order to keep it that way, so no 'rif/raf' gets in...they actually think that they enjoy having their noses stuck up in the air...so they pay for their 'club').

2-Now let's put those 4-5000 'members only'...WHERE???  Have you ever tried to 'speak' to a crowd of 5000???  I have, several times, and doubt that ANYbody in here(including me) would relish the thought of doing it once, say nothing about doing it on a regular basis...

3-And by the way, where do you plan on putting this many people(let's just say 4,000...about a 60% show-up), a lot at even the dullest of 'Dues raising/new clubhouse funding', meetings with more than a few at least slow if not handicapped, but as dues paying 'members', 'EVERY RIGHT & DUTY TO VOTE, PROPOSE AMMENDMENTS, CALL FOR 'A POINT OF ORDER', RECALL ELECTIONS, HAVE THR CLUB PAY FOR THEIR PERSONAL MEDICATIONS, PAINT THE SIDEWALKS PURPLE, HAVE A WHEEL CHAIR 'RACE', 'GARAGE SALES' ON EVERY OTHER STREET...EVERY OTHER WEEKEND'...a long time ago, my Grandma told me some sage advice...'watch out what you wish for...you might get it'...just a thought.... DOROTHY RESPONDS TO ALAS:  TO BEGIN AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR LIST OF BENEFITS:
1.  YOU MEAN, I PRESUME THAT "THOUSANDS COULD STAND IN THE PARKING LOT AND LISTEN TO AN ORCHESTRA SITUATED IN THE BANDSHELL?  THAT IS A BENEFIT???

2.  THE "NEWSPAPER" TO WHICH YOU REFER MUST BE THAT GOOFY RAG THAT IS THROWN INTO MY YARD IN WHICH I READ EVERYTHING ABOUT THE CLUB EXCEPT THE TRUTH...EVEN THE MINUTES ARE EDITED, AND ADDITIONS NOR CORRECTIONS IS ALLOWED, EVEN WHEN TAKEN DIRECTLY FROM TAPES OF THE MEETING.
I'M NOT SURPRISED THAT YOU WOULD CONSIDER A TABLOID ADVERTISEMENT OF BENEFITS THAT NO ONE WOULD PAY FOR EXCEPT UNDER FORCE IS A NEWSPAPER.

3.  I ASK YOU AGAIN.  IF, AS YOU SAY THE CLUB OFFERS ANY SERVICE WORTH A FEW DOLLARS A MONTH, WHY HAS IT HAD TO TRY TO FORCE PEOPLE TO JOIN?

4.  FINALLY, ONCE AGAIN.  THE CLUB, NOR THE FACILITIES ARE REQUIRED TO ENSURE THE SENIOR OVERLAY.  WE HAVE PRINTED THE LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF THE PROGRAM, EXPLAINING THIS TO THOSE LIKE YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY COMMITTED TO SOME FANTASY WORLD IN WHICH YOU LIE TO COVER THE LAST LIE, TRAMPLE ON YOUR NEIGHBOR'S RIGHTS, AND SCURRY AROUND IN SECRET TRYING TO STEAL THEIR PROPERTY.  DVMAN IS RIGHT!  YOU AND YOUR FELLOW CONSPIRATORS ARE BEYOND REDEMPTION.  DOROTHY

Babel on and on and on,

The debate is not about the wonderful programs and things the club has for its members, the debate is  WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO FORCE US INTO MANDATORY MEMBERSHIP IN YOUR CLUB?  Read it slow and a couple of times and you might get it.  Might.  STOP TRYING TO FORCE ALL TO JOIN YOUR CLUB, IT ISN'T RIGHT,  IT ISN'T MORAL AND WE WILL SOON FIND OUT IF IT IS LEGAL.  Get it ?  Read it slow and get some new batteries.
