Another visit with friends and neighbors yesterday at the coffee social! Met new people and they said they would go help friday with the Nature Walk clean up.
The Iowa Club met shorty after the coffee social.
Farnswort Hall was abuzz with activity as the Quilters Club had their sale. They are donating money to replace the torn and tattered grand piano cover.
Coming events are " Potluck 6PM 2/15 with Cheryl Leech performing at 7PM" A great time to visit with friends & neighbors and to see a show. Good food, good company and good entertaiment! Does it get any better?
The Skylarks will be on the Farnsworth Community Theater Stage Fri the 16th at 7PM to do a cabaret show!
I couldn't find anything negative last week as I shared my retired life with friends and relatives in the community.

A group of neighbors got together & worked on the nature walk yesterday. Planning on more work friday morning if anybody wants to help. Nature sure can be messy, must be the rabbit, fox & quail having parties.
The Bocci ball improvments did help attract the special olympics and made it possible to have compeition with other senior clubs on the home field.
The rightaway areas you mentioned along University do look great. Last I have heard the county was going to do them one time and then we have to keep them up. The Board is trying to work with them on this! The problem, Alas dear is this: All the above mentioned routes to happiness the members now find working on projects that are of their own making...(Nature walk clean up, for example) are of their own making. SRP kept up the easement under their high power lines for years before Jim Cook agreed for the club to buy it back...along with the responsibility to maintain it, for 1.00. Now, as I cautioned them at the time, we are all older, and cleaning the trail is a burden. Mary Anne Glauner's desire to create an event by offering to host the Special Olympic kids...cost us thousands of dollars...out of the treasurey...for the use of non members who are not 55+ or residents of DV, or members of the club. At the time, they were a voluntary club, I felt then if those residents who paid dues did not object to these unseemly personal uses of dues, then I would just resign and allow them to "to feather their own nests" out of the club dues until they were voted out. Now, the club is forcing people to pay dues or have their homes liened by the club. Dear old Billie T. actually approved 40 Summons...or so I'm told. Now, the club is incurring all manner of risk...including mind boggling legal ramifications, and still the same old clique who violates the law and the rules to make claims of personal "happiness" at the expense of others, goes on. It won't last. Your personal state of bliss is not my financial responsibility, nor anyone else's...only yours. Dorothy7. PS. I am disappointed in your inability to find any compassion for those you are willfully injuring.

The Bocce ball courts are an interesting subject. You may not be aware that the board took thousands of unbudgeted dollars out of the club treasurey to pay for improvements in the Bocce Ball court from the Emergency Fund. Guess how many members use the Bocce Ball court ? Last I saw, there were 52. But, Mary Ann Glauner gets her picture in the paper (The Citizen) for allowing the "special olympic kids" to practice there. Now, ain't that just too special?
This is but one example of the kind of irresponsible management that DV Boards have been up to since I've lived here. Now, they've waltzed themselves into a corner so they are stealing money to which they are not entitled from 7 of the 18 sections so that they can pay for that kind of silliness instead of using dues to benefit its members. Each of those who keep themselves on the board year after dreary year at the expense of the members has a personal interest in spending their share of dues collected. No weeds are pulled, no improvements paid for that the homeowners who do not sit on their rear over there at the office ever see.
Billie Tapporo got the weeds cut along University and the frontage road. She is the first who ever did it. I called the County almost every year, and nagged until they did it. I have also called Commissioner Stapley's office, and he got it done. Thank God, the County finally cleaned the area from 55th place to Higley. Looks great. I thanked them. Have fun while you still can. Dorothy7

Dorothy and R & C : Happy to hear you would share your thoughts and feeling! Yesterday was another great day here in DVVC. Great weather, had great visit with relatives in for a couple of weeks. The show at Farnsworth was one of the best, had standing room only. Today we get to exercise by working on the Nature Trail maintanance gang! A group of your neighbors are volunteering to help by removing fallen plants and picking up trash! I think the trash was left by the wild life because people wouldn't do that!
Did you happen to see the groups enjoying Bocci Ball and Shuffle Board yesterday?

Alas. Has anyone tried to stop you from going to all this whizzing fun? Has anyone tried to lien your property if you don't stop? What disconnect in your skull allows you to think those who do not have time, or interest in the club's activities should be forced to pay for your time there?
No one objects to buzzing in the wood shop, or pot lucks or whatever other entertainment you partake...no one, and we are certainly not going to run down and claim an interest in your property if you keep it up...we are honest people, and do not poke our hands in the pockets of our neighbors and make them pay for our entertainment. The Band Shell may turn you on, but the majority of people living here and owning homes in DV have never seen it or used it.
I encourage you to go play...and pay for your own playtime. I won't. Dorothy7

Babel,
The issue has never been wheather or not this is a nice place to live, the issue has always been about forcing people to join your nice little club. When you go back to where ever it is you spend your summers, think about this, you and your little play pen are being funded by widows, disabeled, sick, single working moms and those who do not share your excitement of the " Nice life style." So stop trying to sell us about how nice it is to live here, half of the niceness is the weather. Just stop trying to force us to join the club.

We have been here about 6 years, we enjoy the neighbors, the quiet streets and the wild life is so enjoyable! We have family that have moved in, all of us enjoying the facilities. The recent entertainment at Farnsworth is some of the best. There is more to come. The band shell was used last fall for the first time in years! A spring show is planned in it also. The people are active in Bocci Ball, shuffle board courts are alive with players. The lapidary and wood shops are a buzz with the sounds of the machinery. I have heard the computer club is growing in leaps & mega bytes. A new look at the monthly pot luck plus a nice show makes the 3rd thursday of each winter month a pleasant way to spend the evening with friends and neighbors.
