Civil War group to hear about Battle of Glorieta Pass
DOVER — At the Monday, Sept. 21, meeting of the Central Delaware Civil War Round Table, John Bochnowski will present "The March 1862 Battle of Glorieta Pass." This battle is often called "the Gettysburf of the West," and features an extraodrinary cast of heroes and villains.
The meeting will be held in the Palmer Room of the Modern Maturity Center at 1121 Forrest Ave., Dover, beginning with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner, with roast pork as the main course, served at 7 p.m. Cost for dinner is $14 per person, made payable to the Central Delaware Civil War Round Table, and which may be mailed to 9166 Willow Grove Road, Wyoming, DE 19934. Civil War group to hear about Second Manassas
DOVER — At the Monday, Aug. 17, meeting of the Central Delaware Civil War Round Table, Ann Happoldt will present "Second Manassas through the Eyes of a Milford Civilian working in D.C.," thestory of James H. Bell, a Delawarean who working in Washington, D.C.,during the war. After his return to Delaware in 1870, he became the keeper for the Milspillion Lighthouse and also wrote the first historical account of Milford in 1899
The meeting will be held in the Palmer Room of the Modern Maturity Center at 1121 Forrest Ave., Dover, beginning with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner, with spaghetti and meat balls as the main course, served at 7 p.m. Cost for dinner is $14 per person, made payable to the Central Delaware Civil War Round Table, and which may be mailed to 9166 Willow Grove Road, Wyoming, DE 19934. Civil War group to hear about Leonidas Polk
DOVER — At the Monday, July 20, meeting of the Central Delaware Civil War Round Table, Fred Seth will present a program about "Leonidas Polk and Seaford, Delaware: The Facts, The Myth and The Mystery." Mr. Seth will share information uncovered in the ongoing search to separate the facts from the rumors about the major general's part in Delaware history.

Civil War group to hear about Medal of Honor winner
DOVER — At the Monday, June 15, meeting of the Central Delaware Civil War Round Table, Steve Ennis will present a program about Capt. Frank Furness, 6th Pennsylvania Cavalry (Rush Lancers). Capt. Furness was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Trevilion Station. Mr. Ennis also will present information on the captain's role in the Gilded Age of architecture in Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Civil War group presents ‘Three Years a Soldier’
DOVER — At the Monday, May 18, meeting of the Central Delaware Civil War Round Table, Richard Griffin will present the program "Three Years a Soldier" from his book based on the edited diary and correspondence of Pvt. George Perkins of the Sixth New York Independent Battery in the Army of the Potomac, 1861 to 1864. Mr. Griffin, who is Pvt. Perkins’ great-grandson, will highlight the batter’s involvement in the 1864 Shenandoah Valley Campaign and in wartime Washington, D.C.
The meeting will be held in the Palmer Room of the Modern Maturity Center at 1121 Forrest Ave., Dover, beginning with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner, with vegetarian lasagna as the main course, served at 7 p.m.

Central Del. Civil War Round Table to see, hear re-enactor
DOVER — Sean Protas, a member of Central Delaware Civil War Round Table and also of the 2nd Delaware Co. G re-enactment unit, will present Sgt. Cyrus Foxwood, an original member of Co. A of the 2nd Delaware Volunteer Infantry, 1861 to 1864. Mr. Protas, a descendant of several Union soldiers, also will discuss Civil War Living History in the modern day.
Besides the presentation, the meeting includes cocktails served at 6:30 p.m., and dinner with a chicken Marsala entree served at 7 p.m., all in the Palmer Room of the Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forrest Ave., Dover.
