Milford Memorial Day Services
MILFORD – The Milford Memorial Day services, honoring the men and women who served God and country, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Bicentennial Park, Milford. Retired U.S. Air Force Chaplain (Lt. Col.) David J. Sparks, who was senior chaplain for the Charles C. Carson Center for Mortuary Affairs at Dover Air Force Base, will be the guest speaker. His message will be “Recognizing Those Who Paved the Way – A Short History of Military Chaplaincy.”
The Polytech High School Band, under the direction of Arden Wellington, will provide music at the park and for the parade to the Milford Cemetery. The Rev. Gary Cressler will serve as chaplain, and Cindy Peterman will be the vocalist. The Delaware National Guard will provide the ceremonial firing squad. Parade marshals will be World War II veterans Maurice Barnes and Jim Smith. There will be a brief ceremony at the cemetery following the parade, which will include a World War II Jeep and members of the Sussex Technical High School and Polytech High School Jr. ROTC units and a contingent of local Young Marines.
