Public Meeting - July 15, 2009
The Seaford School District will be holding a public meeting on July, 15 at 6PM in the District Office located at 390 Market Street Extended in the Ashok J. Champaneria Board Room for the purpose of soliciting public input regarding the spending of federal stimulus dollars under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The district will be receiving money for Title I Part A, IDEA B (619), and IDEA B (6-12). The purpose of these funds is to implement innovative strategies to improve education for academically at-risk students and to close the achievement gap.
Four principles guiding the distribution and use of ARRA funds are:
(1) spend funds quickly to save and create jobs;
(2) improve student achievement through school improvement and reform;
(3) ensure transparency, reporting, and accountability; and
(4) invest one-time ARRA funds thoughtfully into programs that will be able to be sustained in the future.
Ms. Paula G. Johnson, Director of Elementary Education and Dr. Michael Smith, Director of Special Programs will be outlining proposed initiatives and also soliciting public input and comments during the meeting.
Current time is 11:42 am
