Rommel’s ACE in Stevensville’s dog and cat adoption and charity event held Saturday, June 6 was deemed a “great success,” said volunteer Sharon Jones with Animal Resource Foundation (ARF) and Pet Adoption Center of Chester.
During the fundraiser, ARF sold donated baked goods and hot dogs with all proceeds going to the local ARF. Rommel’s ACE also gave ARF $50 for sodas and rolls to sell at the fundraiser.
ARF brought pets available for adoption and distributed information on dog training classes, volunteering, sponsorships, spaying and neutering, becoming a foster family and how to adopt man and woman’s best friend.
“Kellie Barker, general manager of Rommel's ACE went far beyond the call of duty and already wants us to hold another fundraiser in the fall for ARF,” said Jones. “She was outstanding along with her group of employees who helped out with anything we needed.”
A black lab pup named Megan was adopted during the event. Charity, a beagle is still available. “Charity had people interested and said they will be back, and James the kitten, got an adoption application in for him,” said Susan Beall, executive director of ARF.
Rommel’s ACE had a sidewalk sale during the benefit offering fantastic savings on seasonal and closeout items.
Animal Resource Foundation, Inc. (ARF) is a non-profit corporation dedicated to saving and improving the lives of animals throughout the mid-Atlantic region by rescuing from animal shelters.
They believe no animal deserves to be abandoned, neglected, abused or arbitrarily killed.
Through the creation of public awareness opportunities, outreach programs, providing a nurturing environment for rehabilitation and a spay/neuter program, ARF is able to make adoption a practical alternative.
Most animals come to ARF from shelters and are chosen if they are on the list to be euthanized due to space, medical attention, or minor behavior problems, such as shyness, etc. These animals are then placed in a foster home to be rehabilitated. Once ARF feels the pets are ready to go to a new home they make them available for adoption.
