What is wrong with them?
Having attended the May 22 legislative meeting at the PORA facility and hearing our Legislators — Sens. Jack Harper and Bob Burns, and Representatives Judy Burges and Nancy Barto — I wonder what is wrong with our legislators.
Mr. Harper, Mr. Burns and Ms. Burges informed the residents of the various activities each was most involved in, with the budget being the predominant subject up to this point. Ms. Barto proceeded to discuss her House Bill 2034 (parking bill), which she stated "will only clarify" the existing statute that is in force now.
Our residents in Sun City West and Sun City have been part of Maricopa County for 30 and 50 years respectively. They have generally obeyed all the laws, have communities that have about 70,000 residents combined and has experienced virtually no problems that were not attended and handled by our respective community organizations, PORA and SCHOA.
Our county, our state and our nation is facing problems that effect us directly, such as the economy, immigration, employment, environment, education and major health issues. There are other issues, but most likely not as important. Ms. Barto, your HB 2034 (parking bill) is far from an important aspect to today’s concerns, so please do us a favor, get off your kick to cause undue problems, which we 70,000 residents feel is not needed (we are old enough and do not need clarification).
Stop meddling with minutiae and get involved with legislation that will help our state and country.
