Seems to me that there are quite a few Americans(?) who are absolutely choking on the fact that a liberal African-American was elected president. What else do you expect after 8 years of lies and anti-constitutional shenanigans from corn-fed white boys? The dialog that accompanies the Obama-Clinton photos tells a lot about the author... thinly disguised Joel Chandler Harris writing as "Uncle Remus".

Besmirching Sonia Sotomayor's qualifications for becoming a Supreme Court Justice on the basis of her being childless is one of the more inane comments I have heard lately. Did the writer ever inquire as to why she is childless? Was it due to a personal choice, electing career over family? Was it due to being unable to conceive? Or, was it because, as a Type 1 diabetic, pregnancy and childbirth could be life threatening? Having or not having children has nothing to with her qualifications as a judge. To take it one step further, does the writer imply that women who have had children are more qualified than childless women? My wife, mother of three and an accountant for a major Arizona employer, finds offensive the concept that having had children makes her more qualified for her position.
When it comes to being selected for the Federal bench, I don't believe people "campaign" for the job. They are generally selected by a vetting panel who look at candidates who are notable or outstanding in their field. She was probably selected because she was good at what she did, especially seeing that she was later elevated to the Federal Appeals Court... having been approved by the Senate both times.

Democrats are giddy
All prominent Democrats with a forum to speak from have been lavish in their praise for U.S. Supreme Court niminee Sonia Sotomayor.
They are as giddy as a bunch of teenage girls as they recount her rise from poverty, Ivy League education and her life experience.
But she has not had the ultimate life experience that a woman can have — giving birth to a child or children. That leads into one of the world’s toughest jobs — raising a family.
Her rise to prominence in the court system was not due to her own initiative, but was due to the appointment by President George H.W. Bush, although she will never admit it and give crfedit to No. 41.
