Hospice of the Valley, which cares for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families, has won the non-profit category of the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award, considered the highest volunteer award in the state. The judges’ panel made the selection based on need, action, innovation and impact.

The agency’s 1,250 volunteers care for patients and families in their homes and at palliative care units, as well as doing office work, supporting fund-raising events and working at the White Dove Thrift Shoppe, with sale proceeds going to patient care.

Volunteer trainings are held Valleywide year-round. Information: hov.org and 602-636-6336.
