| With all of the recent publicity, the town of Wyoming seems like the new Frederica. Hmmm, lets see, the same Chief, feuding between the Mayor and potential council members... the similarities are multiplying. What's next? The Mayor having the townspeople or council members arrested. Hopefully they will be a little more mature than Frederica and get things under wraps before anymore negative press occurs.

| A person might wonder why the town government would not want to remove the cloud of suspicion now looming over other people, by identifying who was responsible for that remark.

| It is has become clear that the town of wyoming and its mayor have no intention to reveal the identity of the person who has become an embarrassment to the town via the " ... pain in Cindy's ass" comment on the town's website. I wonder why. One can only surmise that the responsible party has such stature in the community that the embarrassment would grow to even greater proportions. Mayor and or Mrs. Rife
We all know most read these forums , even if it is to get a small chuckle during your work day.
I would hope that you would not cover up the so called cut and paste job up with a internal government issue statement and then make the comment that you are dealing with the issue appropriately.
The family of this officer did not deserve those words place on his memories. The person had to be very vindictive to use his memory to display their discontent of others.
If your Chief claims it was not he , I would think it would not take more then two weeks to find out who did. Scarlet letters are long past , put public embarrassment is only a click away.I would hope you would use the same forum with whom ever the guilty person is and reveal their names.

| That newspaper article does not specify whether the mayor intends to make known publicly the identity of the person responsible for that inappropriate signature line. I would think that by now this information should be available. Since she seemed to know that the signature posting originated at the town hall, I would think there would be a very limited number of people to consider as culprits.

What do you think?
From the Delaware State News: Wyoming Web site letter probed
Mayor apologizes for language with signature
By Nora Engel
Delaware State News
WYOMING — Wyoming Mayor Dale Rife issued a formal apology Friday for a letter posted on the town’s Web site that contained offensive language with the signature.
The letter regarded a scholarship fund for Mike Brown, a Wyoming police officer who died in a motorcycle accident on March 22, 2005. The scholarship was established in his memory in 2006.
The letter explaining the scholarship was signed: "Respectfully, Chuck Manuszak, Chief of Police and Pain in Cindy’s ass."
"Mike Brown was a wonderful young man, and to disgrace his name like this is reprehensible," Mayor Rife said.
"It is being investigated, and with the help of a computer expert, technology will tell us the person who did this and the appropriate action will be taken."
Mayor Rife said she could not comment on the identity of the person named "Cindy" in the letter, because she did not want to point blame at anyone.
She said the signature originated from a server at the Wyoming town hall.
Mayor Rife said the letter has been posted online since 2006. Kevin Wilson was chief of police at that time.
Mayor Rife said Chuck Manuszak accepted the position of police chief in April 2007, and made arrangements for the signature on the letter to be changed from Mr. Wilson’s name to his.
She said that is the last time she knows of the letter being altered, and said she does not know if the "Cindy" reference was added then or later.
"We don’t know when or how this happened or how long it was like that," Mayor Rife said. "Within 24 hours that we were notified of it, we had it changed."
Chief Manuszak said he did not sign the letter that way, and said he does not think anyone on the police staff had anything to do with it.
"I have no clue how it could have happened," he said.
Mayor Rife said the investigation will answer the question of who changed the signature.
"According to what I have been told, the investigation will be able to tell us when it was doctored and who changed it," she said.
"We are just waiting to hear from our independent source. That’s the best we can do right now besides pointing fingers."
A formal apology for the signature by Mayor Rife can be read on the town Web site at http://www.townofwyoming.com.
