You seem to think you are superior, for no apparent reason, of our citizens to the south. Based on your performance on these forums thus far, I would say your opinion of yourself needs an adjustment as I kind of think we're dealing with someone who has the IQ of a rock. rogerevans - I know. I've noticed a lot of webmaster censoring lately due to name-calling. That's not the purpose of the blog. This is to be an intelligent forum for discussion of topics. Guess a lot of people don't agree with that. Cathy Carlat, as I have seen it, is the best candidate for this position. She is a person of integrity & character. I don't see how what she has done inthe past 4 yrs be seen any other way. Interity and politicians are normally 2 words you can't use in the same sentence. But with Cathy, it's different.

If Mark Knight wins this election it will be a sad day for Peoria. This Council will then have a bunch of power hungry people who have no real interest in what is best for this city, only themselves and the power trip they are on.
Apparently, you haven't taken the time to read my answers concerning my motivation for running. My motivations are to serve the constituency, to make the Community, District and City a better place by answering to the constituency. Fiscal and social responsibility along with government transparency are my highest priorities. Surely you don't want your hard earned taxpayer money wasted on issues, such as a new City Logo and unplanned land purchases, and if you do, I believe you should have the opportunity to stand up and state your reasoning, as should opponents. Social responsibility issues will key on quality of life and rezoning issues affecting residents. I, quite simply, want nothing but the best decisions for the residents of Peoria that improve quality of life in Peoria. I am neither power hungry or politically motivated. I am keenly aware of the commitment required to be an effective public servant. You have the opportunity to make your voice heard when you vote September 2nd.

Pay attention people! Mr. Leone doesn't support her for a reason. He knows what goes on behind closed doors.....
The Mayor and the Vice Mayor work together at CAP and on the city council. They are trying to get total control of what happens in your community, so that no-one else on the council can over-rule them. Including the citizens of Peoria.
They are interested in what's best for THEM not what's best for you!

By the way, in answer to your question, she was originally an executive secretary at CAP. I think that she may have been promoted to some other position, probably by Bob Barrett, who also promoted her to Vice Mayor.

A council is made up of people who are our peers, they have regular jobs. They have to in order to live here. Mr. Knight works for Southwest Gas, is he an executive? To me this doesn't matter. You and others however have to somehow find things to make up abour Ms. Carlat. I think it is wise to have the city attorney at the meetings and defer things to him of a legal nature. To me that is smart, he is doing his job!
I am having a hard time following your Walmart issue, but if you are talking about the one they are building on 79th and Peoria, is this even her district? This is your pattern though blaming everything in Peoria that you have a gripe on on her. And what's wrong with Walmart?? They do bring jobs in our area and I happen to shop there it's more economical.

What assumptions have I made that were not true?
I was just "quoting" an article in the Peoria Independent and a guest commentary by one of her colleague and fellow council member, Dave Pearson.
Tell me where the assumptions are?
1) What is her education level? Enlighten us. I don't care about Abe Lincoln, Van Gogh or Mark Twain. These are very different times that call for an education. Our current president has minimal education and look where we are today.
2) What is her past work history experience? This city is no place for on the job training, which Ms. Careless has done. If you happened to have attended or watched the last 2 City Council meetings, you saw first hand that after 3.5 years on the council, Ms. Careless cannot hold a council meeting without the help of our city attorney. Just what has she been doing all that time?
3) What was her position at CAP? Was it administrative or was it on an executive level?
It is obvious that you are close to Ms. Careless, if not Ms. Careless herself, as I find it very odd and perhaps coincidental that you signed on to this website yesterday.
One thing is for sure and that is, I have ZERO respect for this woman ever since she mislead and LIED to everyone about Wal-Mart. She stood up at that podium and told everyone that their was nothing we could do as a community and that is was a done deal. Tell me, all knowingly, NoYouDidn't, if that were true, then why have 3 town hall meetings to sale us on Wal-Mart? Why waste our time if there was nothing that we could do?
So please, NoYouDidn't, enlighten me.

I am not sure your statement is correct, you and others say things that are not true to confuse people. However, there are many people who are quite famous who are non-degreed. I recently read a very interesting article in the Peoria Independent, dated August 6, 2008, about an HOA meeting at West Wing Mountain.
At this meeting Mark Knight had reserved time to speak back in May, the HOA meeting was July 21. Mr. Knight was there to introduce himself to the homeowners as a candidate for City Council for the Mesquite district.
Also at this meeting was our beloved and current Council member Cathy Carlat. According to the paper neither Mr. Knight nor Ms. Careless knew the other was at the same meeting.
However, once Ms. Careless found out of Mr. Knight's presence, she took the HOA manager aside and said "either she or Mr. Knight had to leave". Guess who was asked to leave?.....Mr. Knight.
Mr. Knight violated no election laws, as was thought by Ms. Careless and was later verified by our City Attorney, Steve Kemp.
The actions by Ms. Careless was noticed by fellow Council member Dave Pearson, who wrote a very interesting guest commentary titled "Councilwoman plays dirty politics"
Why is Cathy Careless so threatened by competition? Hasn't she already made enough backroom, behind closed door deals and promises to secure her re-election?
I believe this type of action shows just what type of person Cathy Careless is and what type of character Cathy Careless possesses, neither of which is a welcome attribute to our city and especially in the Mesquite district.
Also mentioned in the paper, Cathy Careless was asked about her educational background and how long she has been a resident of Arizona. Apparently Cathy Careless could not come up with immediate answers and left some wondering if she is truly qualified for the job.
Since this thread is titled "Meet The Candidate" - I ask you Ms. Carlat..
1) What is your educational background / qualifications? (Your Bio, on your website, lists nothing as far as educational background.)
2) What is your past work history that qualifies you for the City Council?
3) How long have you lived in Peoria?
