In recent days, there have been numerous instances of postings that were not focused on community issues but ones that were personal attacks on community members or other forum participants.
After receiving complaints to webmaster@newszap.com, numerous postings have been removed. Several individuals have been warned that the contents of their postings are unacceptable.
The goal of the newszap forums is to provide an area for residents to comment on community issues. Because items are not edited in advance of posting, we ask that participants keep their comments within the bounds of civility and fair play.
Comments that contain profanity, obscenities, personal attacks, or commercial promotion or solicitation or that violate any laws will be deleted promptly when brought to our attention. We reserve the right to remove the posting privileges of individuals who violate these standards. Individuals posting libelous or defamatory comments are not welcome at this site and are granted no right to anonymity should a court of law seek a poster’s identity.
We strongly believe that the uniqueness of the United States lies in its commitment to freedom of speech. But we also believe that discussions of community issues can occur without personal attacks and name-calling. We ask for your cooperation in raising the level of discourse.

Education, of course, is important. Giving our kids a good education is vital to their success and our society's success when they become our nation's leaders.
I don't think we need any more charter schools though. This, especially in PUSD where we have plenty of A+ schools.
We just need to make sure people send their kids to school. I've read of parents who actually help their children skip school. Unbelievable...but true.

How are their English scores?
I was going to call ddeaton on that, but I figured I would let you get to it first.

Great, another deadbeat charter school that will no doubt end up just like most of the rest of them: underperforming.

While most students wring the last bit of fun out of summer, workers are busy putting final touches on Redwood Academy’s new school, located at 6810 W Thunderbird Avenue in Peoria on Thunderbird Ave between 67th Ave and 71st Ave. Officials say construction is slightly ahead of schedule and the new facility will be ready for its first day of school on August 11, 2008. “For the past nine years Redwood has been known for our small school family-feel environment which isn’t changing even though our facility is much larger. The move will also not affect our education team because all of our teachers and staff are making the move,” shared Ron Palmer, Principle of Redwood Academy.
Students will also benefit from: Small class size with low Teacher - Student ratios
Free and discounted breakfast and lunch program available
Full Day Kindergarten for students who turn five by October 31st
Tutoring programs
Distance Learning Program provided and
Teachers in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Departments will instruct using both English and American Sign Language SL.][size=]
Peoria residents can check online at http://www.redwoodacademy.net to keep up with the progress of school construction and to enroll for the new school year. According to Ron Palmer, their website will feature photos of current construction projects, architectural renderings and the status of permitting, construction and opening deadlines.
Parents can also call (623) 878-0986 for more information
