Public Comments

Once again, you have to give Preston McGrew credit for imagination, this week he cited the temperature, precipitation and wind speed during his lunchtime conditions. The bad news for Preston, they just don’t care about him or any of his fellow classmates at the other six high schools.

Chris Cronbaugh’s comment should be the start of a serious wake up call for Douglas, Murphy and Knecht. Chris, pointed out he was upset about the lunch mess and he is registered to vote. There is nothing worse than a mobilized fanatical group in a cult with an axe to grind with the incumbent over silly issues that mean very little. I can hardly wait for November.

Get out to vote! If you haven’t registered, you can here.

Sorry, things didn't turn out as you wished Frankie......You will excuse me, I'm sure, the slight alteration in your paragraph above to make it a truism........With all the flamethrowing done by you and Erickson, it doesn't appear it resonated with many of the people in the distict...... Maybe lunch and Adam Maras weren't what most people were concerned about.......Pity, really, they seemed such a matter of life and death to you all in the cult...

Only 34 days 3  hours.   43 minutes,  1 second.

 until Debbie's

 and Patty's

terms are up.

Can we have one chorus of Amen, Amen, Amen...

Now for some even better news, Diane Douglas will be on the board for four more years, and 34 days! 3  hours!.   43 minutes!, and 1 second!!!! more!

Can we have one chorus of Waiting on A SUNNY DAY......By the THE BOSS of course.......That sunny day is January 13...the end of a mistake-filled reign......hopefully, Diane can lead the new board out of the financial wilderness that these two led us into......We don't need any more Nobels ($1.25 million) or Challengers ($797,000). And hopefully the new board has the courage to bulldoze OLD MAIN!!! Time to move on and ....the district is in not in the museum business and we don't need another money drain like the Challenger was - especially in these times!!!

Doze, Baby, Doze.....

Sorry.  I am working on my laptop, and am out of town on business.  The short answer is no, this will not be paid by insurance.  But perhaps your real question should be whether we should be paying this amount at all.  According to current board members, and certainly some of our legal counsel, the past board may not have legally ratified the contract (refer to what's going on with the Transition Center), thereby rendering any contract unenforceable.  Do you wonder what our counsel has to say about advice they gave in a public meeting to enter into this agreement and payout given that information?

Perhaps my real question should have been, Mrs. Raeder, how did the prior board get us into this mess at all????

Bubba is just example of the type of people who support DD in her quest to destroy PUSD!  Nothing to back up all the big talk but name calling and bullying.

I would bet Bubba here doesn't even have children in the district, he's just here to bully people and name call.

Furthermore, it is everyone's right to vote against the bond if that is their preference. Because they are running for the school board does not require that they vote for the bonds. I have voted for every bond since I moved into this district since 1984. I will really have to think about how I will vote in the next one, and I fully understand why voters would vote the next one down.....What have voters seen in the  last two years....what do they see in the papers......controversies about lunch, controversies about Adam, Challenger fiasco with the district eating big money, Nobel lease with the district paying out big money.....

Dysfunctional....but I have hope now that the purging of the what I see are the problems is in process....

I guess Mary, for you to say this, you would need to be someone with unquestioned ethics and principles. Suffice to say, you are really stating you are only doing this for the "education of our children" and you really have no political vendetta in all of this...And I think it would be very damaging to you if it were found you were blatantly fibbing on this forum or anywhere else.....because then people like me might question why you went on this extended fishing expedition.....

Talk about things being blown out of proportion,” she said. “I said from the start that the only thing I wanted to see was how much influence some people had over the governing board. We all have a right to know that. My biggest concern was that these people would use their influence to undo the work of district voters. Remember, most of these people worked against the bond and override, and to my mind against the district, including Mrs. Douglas and Mr. Murphy. As one of the people responsible for that campaign committee, I want to make sure that the promises made to the community during those elections are kept. Sooner or later the district will need another bond or override, and if the district doesn’t live up to its commitments, it will lose the support of the community.

There’s Something About Mary

First an update on Mary Crespino’s public records request: Peoria Unified School District school board member Rick Murphy still hasn’t handed over his e-mails. School Board President Diane Douglas has not provided the e-mails that include the names of those to whom she’s communicating, and communicating with her. Both, as we now know thanks to the Arizona Ombudsman’s Office, are violations of the state’s Public Records Law.

All those who are shocked by this non-turn of events, raise you hands. None? That’s what I thought.

A short time ago I had a brief e-mail conversation with Crespino. Since stories about Murphy’s and Douglas’s refusals to comply with state law came out, she has been approached by at least one attorney who offered to take up her cause pro bono. And I can tell you why: this case is a slam dunk winner, and one in which a young attorney could make a name for themselves.

Crespino turned the attorney down.

“Why would I do that?” Crespino said. “The only thing pursuing this would do is cost the district money. Anyone who read the Ombudsman’s report knows that I would win if I took this to court. If I did that the district would end up spending a lot of money on attorney’s fees, and would also have to pay my attorney’s fees, too. In the end that would only take money out of my kids’ classrooms and yours. I don’t want to do that.”

“What I want,” Crespino said, “is for the people elected to represent us to obey the law. I don’t think that’s asking too much.”

I also asked Crespino about the intent behind the records request, and about the concerns people had about what she was going to do with the information she received.

“Talk about things being blown out of proportion,” she said.

“I never cared about anyone’s conversations in regard to their kids. That’s between them and the governing board. And all of that information is removed anyway. They also remove information like e-mail addresses, home addresses and telephone numbers, so all that talk about me harassing people was garbage, and I think most people were smart enough to know that.”

Finally, I asked if she ever expects Murphy to turn over the e-mail she requested.

“No,” Crespino said. “And you know what? That’s his problem. For all his talk about open government during the campaign, he blew his one chance to prove it. He’s the one who will have to answer for that, not me.”

If Mrs. Douglas and Mr. Murphy showed half the intelligence and integrity of Mary Crespino, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in right now.

Was that you I saw on TV playing the district budget game?

Did they factor in your game the subtractions for paying $1.25 million for attorney error?

One more thing:  you're the one who has been saying the whole lease thing was a budget buster, that they would lose teacher, computers, the ability to tell light from dark.

If it's so bad, why is there so much money in the carry over fund?

Your claims and the facts don't match. Your logic is non-existent.

And we all know what that means: you're wrong...again.

BTW I love your logic.....you should work for the federal government.

And since the district doesn't need the cash, let's just  give Nobel $2.25 million for nothing, what the hell?

And I would also argue that woman "counting the paperclips" is starting to get this district under fiscal control.......

Naturally, you avoid answering the question.

As for Douglas, there was nothing to get control of.  School district budgets and spending go through independent audits every year by the State Auditor General.  All the reports, all their findings are on line, and all of Peoria's have come up clean. No mention of the legal Challenger deal made under Paul Kohler, no nothing.

There was nothing to clean up.

Always wrong - let me add that to the list....

BTW I love your logic.....you should work for the federal government.

And since the district doesn't need the cash, let's just  give Nobel $2.25 million for nothing, what the hell?

And I would also argue that woman "counting the paperclips" is starting to get this district under fiscal control.......

Yes sir, you are proving my point.

Hey, too bad you weren't at the budget study session on Tuesday.  Announced a carry over of more than $2 million.  Apparently that rental agreement didn't hurt them too badly...or cost a teacher a job...or took a computer out of the classroom...

How does it feel to be proven wrong again?

Hey Frank

When are you and Michael going to take off those silly counters about many days are left for the board members? Is this a joint decision and requires some high level consultation? Sure wouldn't want one different than the other.... Why don't you start one that states how long it's been since you guys have posted something relevant and newsworthy? or how many days it's been since  something completely false wasn't posted on either site?

Do you feel it's fair I am blacklisted on your blog and you're always coming over and posting here? Why don't you stay over there at the Cult Country Club and stay out of the Long Branch here?

Or how about you let me come back.....I kind of enjoyed myself for the brief time I was allowed to mingle with the elite. I promise not to show up intoxicated anymore and I will wear shoes....and a shirt....and will not moon the music conductor because he didn't know any Springsteen songs.

Grasshopper

BTW I am leaving on business for ten days. Call me on my cell if you need me....especially if you get word about my Bruuuuuuuce tickets.

I never said you kicked your dog, and I don't know you so I can't say I don't like you (you might be one hellava human being for all I know. Mother Theresa's heir).

But I do take pity on you.

Your promises are worthless and always have been.  The fact is, you will never leave until you think you have won the argument, and as someone else pointed out, you somehow prove the bloggers wrong.

It is the clinical definition of obsession.

Three simple questions:

Why did PUSD enter into the lease?
What were terms and conditions of the lease?
Why did PUSD need to get out of the lease?

Good luck.

Frankie

I thought I already answered these questions for you. I will answer them again, but only if you call me grasshopper.

To all, what do your eyes see when you watch this video?

All the older stuff?
 or
The young boy?

The PUSD Governing Board and a few people in the community concentrate on the stuff.  It is time we get back to concentrating on the kids.

He/she/it will never answer those questions.  Important details do not fit into he/she/its equation.  This is all about proving someone wrong.  OK Gadfly, just for fun, you're right.  That makes one for you, and 1522 for Erickson.  Feel better?  Can you move on now?
