From Peoria's Parks Director Kirk Haines:

"Everyone who signed in last night at the public meeting is receiving this e-mail message regarding the request by AT&T to place a cell tower in Parkridge Park.  I have had the opportunity to discuss the details with our Planning Division and with the Director of the Community Services Department.  Although there was one resident that supported the cell tower in the park, the overwhelming consensus was lack of support by the neighborhood and we concur that the tower should not be placed in Parkridge Park.  I have already notified the two representatives from AT&T that we will not approve the lease, nor will we recommend this go to City Council for consideration.  Furthermore, I recommended that they find an alternative location as the City of Peoria does not support the AT&T request.

There is no further action required on your behalf and I appreciate that you took the time from your personal lives to voice your concerns regarding this matter." -- Kirk Haines

The letter below was sent to some residents near Parkridge Park regarding a potential cell tower in the area.

A community meeting is planned 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 and is open to the public.

Dear Neighbor,

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that Reliant Land Services (RLS), representing AT&T Wireless, is requesting to install a 65 foot high stealth Wireless Communication Facility at Parkridge Park located at 9734 West Beardsley Road. AT&T is proposing to install the stealth pine tree in order to achieve adequate coverage in the area. The associated ground equipment for the facility wiil be located at the base of the monopine and wiil be concealed behind a proposed 8 foot high CMU wail that will be painted to match the existing wall.

As recommended by the Peoria Parks Department, we wiil be conducting a neighborhood input meeting at Parkridge Elementary, located at 9970 West Beardsley Road on December 1, 2008 at 6:30pm in the cafeteria.

Regards,

Brandon Brown

Reliant Land Services
