The Sawtooth Mtns. are south of Eloy, heading south on Sunland Gin Rd. about 20 miles, then west to the dead end.  Yes, you will see border patrol out there as some use it as a rough shortcut to Mexico.  But there are some rural subdivisons out there also.  I sold 3.3 acre lots out there in 05-06 for $30,000.  The airplane is sitting on a runway for a subdivision of airborne residents in Silverbell Estates.

It's also part of that land that George Johnson bought, and has since sold to the other big guy, Connoly Wolfswinkle.  Beautiful area with pristine air and no city influence.....yet.

Then those were the mountains I was referring to. :D It is very pretty out there! I remember the Silverbell Estates since it was the only thing out there. There were lots of vultures out that way... quite a lot of fresh blood in the road but nothing but blood.... it was pretty creepy.

Good guessing.

Take a look now at the answers on the page with the pictures.:)

Thanks! I have been trying to get a much closer pic of a jackrabbit but they are SO Fast that it seems impossible! I was so surprised the first time I got a good look at a jackrabbit... I always knew they were larger then a cottontail but I didn't realize just how much larger!

i have been staying out of the dialog with respect to your naming of a community since it isn't my business.  BUT... Inspiration Vistas really struck a chord with me, it rings nice, i like it.  (if i did live there, i would tell you this was the neatest sounding in my opinion)

What wonderful inspiration.  Something we all have in common and can enjoy together.  Thank you for those lovely pictures.  Leave it to a Choctaw to bring inspiration into the equation with those outstanding cloud formations.;)

This morning, I'm watching the birds feed on their bird food, in the  Native palo verde tree in my front yard.  Next come the ground squirrels, with the quail family bringing up the rear.  Within a few minutes of watching them, a coyote scrambles by.  They look like a yellow-gray dog with a pointed nose, rust-colored legs and ears and a bushy, black-tipped tail.  Ooops.  He saw me.  Off he goes, with his tail between his legs.  Here comes the Jackrabbit.  Very athletic, as it hops about 10 ft. at a time, and can reach speeds up to 35 mph.  Yep.....he's gone now too as he saw me and my field glasses.  Here comes the cottontail.....with it's cute little while puffy tail.  It's feeding on my alovera plants and other cacti.  They love to eat lantana's too, so I can't grow them here as they will devour them.

All these critters are out in the early morning or early evening, so you have to be an early bird to watch them in action.

Arizona;  truly a land of contrasts.  And there's a certain "air" about living out here in the San Tan Mountains.....an "air" of appreciation for it's landscape, but better yet, an "air" of wanting to get the best out of life for ourselves, our families and our neighbors.  Working together as a community, sharing our personal visions with one another in hopes that a glimmer of that vision will come to fruition.

Start off around 5 am and go around the whole area, from Copper Basin to the San Tan Mountains, its amazing what you will see.. there is wildlife everywhere! My neighborhood has SO many rabbits... TOO cute!

I love this State.  I've lived here since 1944.  I've seen it grow, stumble and pick itself back up again.  Great lessons learned.  My parents and a brother are buried in the Mesa Cemetary.  I'm a burner, so my ashes will be dispersed over the San Tan Mountains, in hopes the sheep and pigs can graze on them, allowing my spirit to rest within them.  So if you see a red javalina running around your neighborhood, don't kill it.  Feed it.:)

Quickly, I would like to tell you about my experience up in Sedona with a bobcat.....a rabid bobcat.  My neighbor's dogs were barking like crazy.  Ron (neighbor) went out to find out what all the noise was about.  There sat the bobcat, with the dogs cornering him.  Ron went back into the house and called the dogs to come in.  The dogs came in and right behind them was the bobcat.  Now he's in the house.  He grabs Ron's shoe tip and latches on.  Now Ron knows there's something wrong as the cat is not seeking to run away, but keeps hanging on.  Ron throws the cat, via his foot, toward the front door.  He hits the door and comes back again at Ron.  Ron opens the door this time, and kicks him for a field goal.  Then shuts the door.  The cat came back....banged against the door....then took off.  He was rabid.  Second one up there.  They usually die within 72 hours after contracting rabies.  No more bobcats have shown up.

If you want to live in "Nature", be prepared for what comes with it.  We should learn to appreciate all these critters in their immediate environment, as well as know the signs of trouble.  These are all local species, and one needs to learn the first steps towards understanding these critters by understanding their place within their ecosystem.  It's their habitat, and we share it with them.  According to my research, Native species include more than 475 birds; 130 mammals, 90 reptiles, 20 amphibians, 80 fishes and thousands of trees, shrubs and wildflowers.
