COMMENT REMOVED
From the webmaster: Based on a report from a forum member, we have deleted a comment that violated our guidelines. Click here to read our Policies & Disclaimers.
We believe that the public forum gives everyone a chance to express their opinions on local issues. If citizens disagree, we expect them to disagree without being disagreeable.
Each registered member has agreed to keep his or her comments within the bounds of fair play. Controversial opinions are acceptable, but personal attacks on private individuals, name-calling and profanity are not welcome here.
We hope individuals will speak to issues and not engage in personal attacks or “bullying” of other members. If the latter occurs and a complaint is sent to webmaster@newszap.com, members may have their registrations immediately withdrawn and be asked to seek out a different website to express themselves. (In each case, please identify the forum, the topic and the time and date of the posting that you feel violate the guidelines.)
While this action might be considered drastic, we believe the step is necessary to preserve our “free speech with civility” mission.

Why free speech with civility?
1. Because our forum members believe that citizens can disagree about issues without being disagreeable with one another --- and that name-calling, bullying and character assassination undermine the intelligent discussion of public issues.
2. Because a few hateful people shouldn’t be allowed to spoil what is intended as a safe and open public forum where people can discuss the issues that are important to them without opening themselves to vicious personal attacks and threats.
3. Because free speech shouldn’t give people a right to yell “fire” in a crowded theater, to shout down or intimidate those who disagree, or to go beyond the bounds of fair play and decency.
4. Because, as the great modern philosopher Emmylou Harris put it: “The frightening thing is when we lose our civility, which I think is happening across the board, and I find disturbing. As citizens we have to be more thoughtful and more educated and more informed. I turn on the TV and I see these grown people screaming at each other, and I think, well, if we don't get our civility back, we're in trouble.”
What is the Public Forum Member’s Pledge?
When individuals register to become eligible to post comments in the newszap.com public forums, they agree to abide by the following pledge:
Public Forum Member’s Pledge
As a Member of the newszap.com forums, I will:
1. Share comments about public issues, and not engage in personal attacks, threats, online bullying or commercial spam.
2. Keep my comments within the bounds of fair play and civility. (I can disagree with others in a courteous manner, without being disagreeable about it.)

| If low rent is a precurser to higher crime rates then that area should already have a high crime rate. The area behind the discount beverage store has always been referred to as the projects because of the low income housing.

Thank you starleen. Thank you for the welcome. Yes I can see there is a soapbox derby here. I can see from the award I have been given by someone who had the gonads to present it in person to me...
Oh, wait... They didn't. They posted the award they were given many times by others.
Yes, new ideas scare cowards. Anything scares cowards. They scare themselves.
Heck. They scare me that people like this exist.
I doubt they even vote, but complain when their choice loses.

Act like an adult? Like those who welcomed me to this board by insulting me?
If that's your opinion of being an adult, I see where you stand, also.
Hi, Nice to meet you. Now shut up. That seems to be the tone around here...
By the way, this is a forum. Everybody contributes. A blog is run by one person who expresses their opinions, and may let you post if your opinion agrees with theirs. I can see why you consider this a blog.Last edited on Wed May 7th, 2008 12:59 am by

Low rent = low life are not my words.
I am simply stating the fact that crime rates are directly proportional to DENSITY. And further, that it is statistically true that low income housing is statistically higher crime rate than non-low income housing. Very little research will bear that out... it isn't anecdotal but is based on real life data.
I don't know what the rents will be.
"Low rent = low life"
"crime rates are directly proportional to DENSITY"
Seems like this forum's rapid descent to the gutter is a good analogy for that equation, where crime rates equal insults and density = numbers of cyber bullies.

People who get my vote are people who deserve it.
At this point, you don't get my vote. I don't know him as much as I don't know you. Know what? He in his one post has been more polite than you have been all night. Perhaps you should learn something from that. I never said sanything about doughnuts so this now makes you a liar. I have policeman in my family and would not disrespect them in the way you just did.
Post the link I talked about them like that or go away as a liar.
You Can't. That makes you the liar of this board that you have always been. You can say anything you like, but facts evade you. It is a pity other people follow you like blind sheep.
I called you out to post the truth. Post my link that talked about policeman and doughnuts. You can't because you make up your own facts. Now go make up a new screen name because this one is now known as a LIAR.
I'm waiting for the link... Not something you will make up and paste..

Yes Guy, that was much braver of you to use a first name that could be one of hundreds in the town, rather than an alias.
Did you just admit that it took you two months to figure out how to change email accounts?
How exactly do you plan to save Queen Creek from the clutches of the rest of us?

Thank you for the compliment.
Much like most of the people who have attacked me tonight...
I spoke my opinion. They have spoken theirs. I just got my email activated so I could speak. I had to change from one account to another.
OF COURSE you knew this is why I could not post.
ONLY QCV welcomed me...
Thank you for your welcome.
That tells me exactly what I need to know of how this board is run...
Think as we do or be reported.
Click the button.
I'm sure others have.
People don't like to be be 'punked out', well, for being punks.
There are people on this board that don't "fightcrime" or are spiders...
etc...
I have posted my real name. Not like anyone else who posts...
I call that, well, it is a slang word for cats that would get me banned...
I want to thank you for the welcome, and I hope to help QC for the benifit of all of us.
Not to sit and b___ch and do nothing like some crimefighters do...

| Guy. You came on here as a noob. Basically on the attack with insults. Misunderstood posts and then posted smart ass remarks and still carry on. What did you expect? Calm down and get off the personal level digs. Insults and attacks are not opinions and most likely wont be tolerated. Its funny how the one on the attack suddenly cries victim. Thats such a typical ploy by people who purposely set out to disrupt forums like this one. If the fighting style of blogging is your game, maybe another type of forum would better suit your needs.

Actually, Coal is still king of the hill on the "cheapness" scale followed by Natural Gas. And Nuclear power too is far less expensive at this point than Solar.
Solar Arrays cost big bucks actually and so the price per MegaWatt is actually quite high.
This is why SRP's mix of power generation is Coal-43.7%, NatGas-18%, Nuclear-14.5% and the whole category of "Renewables" (Hydro, Solar, underground methane from dumps) only makes up 5.4%
If one wants to know "why Arizona is not electricity un-dependent", one need only look to cost per MegaWatt

There may be a point. What are they charging them for rent? Something more or less than examples cited. More may equal better people. Less rent will attract slime.
I know people that rent on Park Ave in NY are commiting the majority of crime in NY.
Oh, wait...
That can't be right...
So I must agree with CF. Renters are no good. Period. No questions asked.
Ask a question and BlackWidow clicks the report button...
She is third in line.

call it a sweeping generalization Guy (welcome to the forum by the way), but it is statistically true that per capita crime is way higher in apartments/multi-unit housing than in single family detached. for the record... DENSITY is a key factor in crime rates. zero lot line living is higher crime statistically than is R1-6, than is R1-8 than is R1-18, than is R1-35, etc...

not exactly the same... not an apples/apples comparison since those Clemente (or whatever they are called) are low income housing.
but i get the point about increased crime non-the-less. apartments are higher crime regardless of low income or not.

And if I could get cheap electricity, You can build one of those in my backyard.
Mountains do not provide cheap electricity. Solar panels do. Arizona has 380 days of sunlight each year. (yes, CF and his partner, I know there are 365 or 4 days per year).
Why Arizona is not electricity un-dependent is a question perhaps they can answer...
Perhaps the future crime rate?
After all, there is copper that future residents can steal...

The crime issue will prove itself over time. How on earth allow such a complex to be built there. We have a new multi million dollar library which the back and dull side face 2 main frontage roads next to a run down old store, across from a Circle K thats is dwarfed by a huge housing complex thats built in a parking lot, which hides our new multi million dollar shopping plaza and the spectacular view of the world famous Superstition Mountains. All I can say is WTF?
If we are going to ruin the towns look all together lets build a few of these and cash out with SRP...

They're only 300 feet high. QC can have its own electric company. We have big land owners in town..BIG money maker. If we have to look at crappy piled up buildings in our quaint downtown lets make some more money..thats the motivator right? Revenue..A few of these down by the SanTans should work and make QC self reliant. Lets go!
One example linked..There are other systems..Same 300 - 500 foot tower.

| It's a sweeping generalization that happens to be true. I'm happy to wager with you that police calls to that complex increase significantly as soon as a good number of renters are in.

Ellsworth and Ocotillo are the heart of our downtown. As we look to the east we see a small city rising. APARTMENTS! Lots and lots of buildings reaching way up into the sky, blocking the mountain views and even blocking out the brand new Walmart. I have been all around this country and cant for life of me remember seeing a big apartment complex in a WalMart parking lot. I think that its a mistake to have them there. I dont like the view. Will those folks have cars? I think we have a traffic issue.
What do ya'll think? Love the new mini-city? Don't care? Or dislike it and find it offensive?
