I think the kids should go.  I think the Board's using safety as the issue was a cop-out.  I also think the kids need a fund-raiser, booster club, etc.  I DON'T think it's the districts place to underwrite the trip.

Good luck gathering donations or having car washes etc.  to get the needed funds.

Those interested in donating can send checks to Queen Creek High School, with Academic Decathlon in the memo field, at 22149 E. Ocotillo Road, Queen Creek, AZ 85242.

As an educator, I see this as a mistake.  But, I am not on your Board, nor am I Dr. Murless.

Form a Booster Club.  The District has nothing to say about what that Booster Club does.  Then raise the money.  I'll be the first to donate.

This is just plain ignorant.  They have worked their little behinds off to excel, and this is the recognition and support they get?  Fear, guiding your Boards decisions?  Afraid of what the "world" is like out there?

Didn't seem to scare off Gilbert or Higley District.  They support this venture.  A reward for the students, after laboring over math, economics, history, and so on, and this is the support you extend to them?

When is Dr. Murless's contract up?  He should be trying to influence the Boards decisions with research and information in support of the students' entrance into the world of Global economics.  My granddaughters attend your schools.  I'm looking out for their welfare.  Let's get with the program.  The world is changing, so quit hanging on to your old ways of doing things and assessing value.

Turkey, had 23 million tourist visiting them last year, and not one terrorist incident.  Get over your fears and let these kids excel in the world market, or we will be behind those other countries.......just my opinion as an educator.
