Another typical example of political desparation. As a retired police officer from Pinal County (not S.O.) and a democrat to boot, I too am against photo radar and am glad to hear Babeu is considering discontinuing it's use in Pinal County. Radar units are very accurate when in the hands of a trained user, but they are also inherently prone to false readings due to street signs swinging back and forth in the wind, larger vehicles behind small vehicles, electronic devices in the area, and a multitude of other factors. I don't think they are a good tool for unmanned use.
That said, even if Babeu endorsed the radar program, I would still vote for him. The Sheriff's Department in Pinal County is in shambles and is in serious need of reform and leadership. When the Pinal County Law Enforcement Association, who's membership consists of law enforcement officers from every agency in Pinal County overwhelmingly votes to withdraw support of the incumbent Sheriff and endorse a new candidate, rest assured there are problems running deep. It doesn't happen very often.
I am also curious where the Pinal County Human Resources Department, Board of Supervisors, and Administration are? I believe County policy prohits that type of political activity by it's employees, and certainly prohibits the use of on duty time to run around spying and photographing the opposition. (Has anyone checked time sheets lately?) I believe there are also criminal statutes against stalking and harrasment, even in Pinal County!
Desparation: It's like watching a caught fish out of water trying to wiggle back in. The hook just gets buried deeper. McCain and Palin should be giving you an idea of what it looks like and how well people respond to it. Knock it off and stick to the issues.

Something wrong with this picture. Who could imagine that a candidate for sheriff would raise his flag from a bar...
this type of post is simply reckless. i would think that something like this would be posted SOMEWHERE in the vast internet regions. i personally checked and did a few different boolean searches and come up entirely empty handed.

I think you're confused. However, if you're not, then please provide proof of this. Seems to me you're purposely trying to smear the man's good name.

| Although I do not live in Pinal County and cannot vote for Paul Babeu, I hope he wins. He is against photo radar and promises to eliminate its use in Pinal County. Amen Brother!

PINAL COUNTY, AZ. SEPTEMBER 24, 2008. I am proudly endorsing Paul Babeu for Pinal County Sheriff. Pinal County is America’s fastest growing county and although we currently have capable leadership in our Sheriff’s Office, I believe that Paul Babeu is the best choice to lead the PCSO into the future. Paul’s background of leadership, management, and education, combined with his well-articulated vision for the future, lead me to this endorsement. Pinal County is changing. We are on the cusp of a population/economic surge that has never been seen in the history of our state. Although we will develop responsibly and with controlled purpose, our law enforcement must keep pace. I’m confident that under Paul’s leadership, the PCSO will stay ahead of the community’s needs as we move into the future and take our rightful place as one of America’s finest counties. Paul Babeu is the future of our PCSO. He represents bold, competent, visionary leadership.
Pinal County currently has an amazing group of employees and volunteers who represent the finest qualities of law enforcement and community service. I believe their talents and dedication will flourish under the leadership of Paul Babeu. Paul represents the brightest future for Pinal County and that is why I am endorsing Paul Babeu for Sheriff.
