Q.C. council OKs annexing land for housing Amanda Keim, Tribune
Queen Creek's Town Council voted to annex a parcel of land at Signal Butte and Ocotillo roads that's slated for single-family houses and a commercial center Wednesday night.
Most of the 885-acre site at the southeast corner of the intersection is slated to be a 1,745-home master planned community called Circle G at the Church Farm, town planner Dave Williams said.
William Lyon Homes is developing the community.
The remaining 45-acre site will be a shopping center, though the town doesn't yet know who will develop that project or what will go in it, Williams said.
It's been a few years since the town has dealt with large annexations, but there are several projects that are now at the point they're requesting annexation, Williams said.
The council voted two weeks ago to annex a parcel at Gantzel and Combs roads in Pinal County, the future site of a Vestar Development Co. power center. That parcel is adjacent to the future Banner Ironwood Medical Center.
Annexation of the Vestar parcel was a necessary step before the hospital itself could be annexed.
