- Rittenhouse Road/Hawes Road - Crews continue work to widen the intersection. Traffic is shifted slightly at the intersection as well as another location slightly west of Hawes Road. Work will continue through December. Drivers should expect flaggers and off-duty patrol office controlling the area throughout the day.

Just an observation, but it seems like most people are merging over a little sooner on southbound Rittenhouse since the light was turned on.

Intersection gets traffic signal
Santa Claus visited Queen Creek early this year, and he brought the power for a new traffic light with him.
Santa was at Rittenhouse and Village Loop roads Monday to flip on the power to a long-awaited traffic signal. The signal will make it easier for drivers to turn on and off Rittenhouse Road, something residents of the Villages at Queen Creek subdivision especially have been looking forward to, Queen Creek spokeswoman Marnie Schubert said.
THE GIFT OF TRAFFIC CONTROL: Santa Claus delivers an early Christmas gift to the residents of Queen Creek on Monday by turning on the traffic signal at Rittenhouse and Village Loop North roads. SUBMITTED

How about an "Amen!" for the now-functioning signal light on R'house?
I hope this helps slow the 70+ mph speeders that almost run me over on my way home each night.
Thanks for that light - it is greatly appreciated by me!
One down...2 or maybe 3 more to go! At least 1 at Cloud and Village Loop south.

| Hawes/Rittenhouse intersection pavement - Substantial construction that began on Dec. 1 was postponed during the Thanksgiving holiday to avoid further traffic congestion. It is expected that construction work, including widening to install a center left-turn lane, will be completed by the end of December. The intersection will be controlled with a three-way stop until the traffic signal is complete at the end of February - see below.
Hawes/Rittenhouse temporary signal - This project was approved at the Dec. 3 Council Meeting awarding the contract to AJP Electric. It is anticipated that the construction will be completed by the end of February 2009.

Not complaining, but two more left hand turn lanes would be nice:
1. Northbound Rittenhouse onto Cloud.
2. Northbound Rittenhouse onto 198th St. (just west of Hawes).

PS - I guess I actually am complaining.

Rittenhouse in front of Schnepf Farms where that infernal railroad crossing is still messed up.
Other than that, things around here are pretty nice lately. Many thanks to everyone that had a hand in traffic improvements the last few years!

What is the deal?
Thanks!

El Guapo, an update...
Pavement improvements by Thanksgiving. (Town Council approved some funding for this this past Wed.)
Intersection signalized hopefully by Christmas

I'm over the median thing, I just took a jab. I presented my case, the council made their decision, and that's the end of it in my mind. My concern going forward is that we don't repeat what happened here.
I would love to meet you guys for lunch. I'm working from home today. What does your guys' day look like?

| we can get together for lunch soon... the three of us at least... gsbill, davidb and myself. we'll see who else we can drum up. we have to talk about things other than medians though. i am seeing some similarities in opinion between both of you on other issues facing the Town and would love to hear your input on them.

Probably no connection. The plan there calls for a 2 way left turn lane..no medians.
Added note..to date the money spent on removing medians is about 8,000 dollars. One traffic signal is about 200k dollars give or take, perhaps QCV knows that figure better than I.
I wasn't comparing the intersection to Ocotillo, I was referring to where the money comes from.
Yeah, we have only spent $8K TO DATE, but be honest Bill, it's far from over and in the end will likely be closer to the $100K+ range depending on how much of the median they decide to remove.
It was just a jab anyway and a bit tongue in cheek. Lighten up bro.

i go on it two or three days a week (during rush hours) and find it not so bad. way better than in times past. we are doing what we can with the current economic situation. we had to cut $8.5m in transportation Capital Improvement Projects because of lowered revenue based on next to no building permits pulled in the past year.
as of Sept 4th, Town Staff was working on temporary widening for a turn lane and install of a temporary signal at Hawes/Rittenhouse.
here is a link to see the CIP for transportation... http://www.queencreek.org/Index.aspx?page=469
send a note to traffic@queencreek.org with your specific question.
