David got himself banned because of his use of obscenities on here and his personal attacks.  It wasn't me who asked that he be banned, so go point your finger somewhere else.  Join the rest of the naysayers, as many of us choose not to debate your anti stimulus and anti social programs for our fellow Americans in Queen Creek and Pinal County and the rest of the country, who are in need.  Enjoy yourself while you enjoy your money.:)  Most of us don't appreciate your name calling either, or did you forget.

Looks like you even like calling yourself names.....

Oh, and I see I'm getting the bum's rush off this forum. If I'm such a pain why not just get me banned like DavidB and be done with it?

I think you're spot on bro.  I've watched alot of people on here for a long time and alot of them are like Starleen.  They just seem to wake up mad at the world and take it out on someone.  They got nothing good to say.  They just seem to like to critisize people.  So I try not to come on here much or they might suck me into it too.  I just watch most of the time anyway.  I enjoy reading about issues but I can't stand it when someone starts attacking the other guy.  And why wouldn't anybody like bambes cartoons? I sure do. Too much complaining about nothing I think but if you learn to ignore it then maybe they will go away.

Now I guess I should wait for an attack for my comments.   Not.

How would Starleen like to wake up to this on a public blog?

Put's one in a real good mood, right? Waking up to this personal assessment of falsehoods against you.  No need to defend it?  No need for the guy to prove it either, right?  Or for you to prove your allegations against me? Just make your statement of personal attacks and be on your way. Easy road of research?  Show me. Both of you please SHOW ME the path of easy research or Wiki references you accuse me of. I'm waiting.  Back up your accusations with facts.

Feel better now discussing the Bambi issue?  This is really getting old....making me an issue, when all I did was post some references to a real issue I was discussing.  This is what I was discussing along with the referances....

On September 7, 2008, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) placedFannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) that playa critical role in the U.S. home mortgage market, in conservatorship. As conservator, the FHFA has full powers to control the assets and operations of the firms. Dividends to common and preferred shareholders are suspended, but the U.S. Treasury has put inplace a set of financing agreements to ensure that the GSEs continue to meet theirobligations to holders of bonds that they have issued or guaranteed. This means that the U.S. taxpayer now stands behind about $5 trillion of GSE debt.  Source: state government/documents.

Ah, Bambi citing her "research" again.  For those who are new here, please don't confuse Bambi's "research" with anything that resembles real research.  It basically consists of her going on wikipedia and knighting whatever is there as scientific fact.

That's harassment plain and simple. No wikipedia mentioned.  A government source was referenced.  Nothing about the issue was mentioned in his post to me.  Just complete falsehoods and personal attacks.
Then you decide to back him up with your falsehoods.
I have no personal motives in using my real name other than that's who I am and I'm comfortable with.  Is lisa colleto using her real name to promote her business? How about bill?   If you don't like it, ignore it, but don't alledge a falsehood for your own gratification and promotion of your own perspectives at the expense of another.

I will continue to reference the rules as long as you continue to break them.  I shouldn't have to do that, but that's why I brought in the analogy of the jr.high class.  No law states I can't refer to personal experience to make a point.  And at my age I have racked up alot of personal experiences.

So save your puns and accusatory posts for another place and stick to the issue.  Neither myself or my neighbors like being called names....rabble, ole coots, eccentrics, etc.  We're all good people looking at life from different perspectives.  But Starleen doesn't think that, based on this recent post to all of us.....

rabble.  more name calling.  Looks like you pretty much make a habit of that.

And if the rest of those on here feel as you do, that I am posting my real name and real estate comments in the R.E. Topic as just promoting my self interest and as a means of advertising, then I will stop. Just say the word. But I do it as a service....not for personal gain, as I have made no deals with anyone on this forum.  I have realized no personal gain from here.  But perhaps in your mind and those like you, doing something for the public for free in order to help them is a waste of time and money.  Like all those programs the Dems. want to develop and fund for the disadvantaged, minorities and handicapped. Might take too much money from the pockets of the rich?                      My country give's me this right to use symbols for expression.  And no amount of bullying will take that right from me.  Embarrassed of what? That I practice the 1st amendment?  Do you expect everyone is having the same reaction as yourself?  Many on here like them. Those that don't just ignore them.  That's diversity. I've ignored many of your slanderous remarks against others on here letting them handle it. I even ignored those names you called all of us in the San Tans.....until you just took this name calling too far.  And here I am...defending myself again.  So don't try to take my rights away thru your bullying tactics. I'm already dealing with one big bully that is trying to prevent our free discussions about our health and welfare; I don't need another one on campus to try to restrict my words.

In my opinion, your conservative thought is attempting to make this liberal appear disingenuous, but you won't succeed.  You once called Obama a Marxist....closet Marxist as I recall.  That's where you're coming from. Your attempt to Rid yourself of liberal thinkers thru false accusations, either about me or about our President, just won't work.  So, goodbye to you from all of us rabble and ole coots in the San Tans

I feel like I'm back teaching a junior high class, having to remind the student to behave and "follow the classroom rules.", so others can learn and understand.

I have to agree with CF. Bambi, you do your research down the easy roads, and you come on the forum with a junior high teacher attitude - trying to squash and insult free thought in order to keep all within the classroom rules. Your backlash to CF with all the little emoticons dancing to and fro is an embarrassment. And you pull out the "little old lady" card - why does being 65+ and female make you a protected species? And you insult those of us who choose to come on here and post anonymously, when your motive to reveal your identity is just an advertising ploy for your real estate endeavors. And then you complain because you are victimized as a result of the exposure. Bah.

Up early with your put down's aren't you?  Do you like printing "fighting words."

"It is all right to disagree with other Members, but you can do this without criticizing the individual. If you steadfastly refrain from personal criticism........"

What is it about attacking me personally that you don't understand?  What is it about signing a pledge not to do this that you don't understand? What is it about breaking your word that doesn't bother you? What is it about spreading untruths about other members (me) on here that brings you delight?  Why do you refuse to abide by the rules?   Are you a lawbreaker in real life? Is that why it brings you delight?   Perhaps you just don't have the capacity to understand why you shouldn't break the rules?   Is that why you continue breaking these rules? Definace to our laws?  Do you feel it's easier for you to come after a person of minority while you are hiding behind your screen name putting them down publically?  Safer than coming after the men on here? Aren't you getting people to notice you enough on here that you have to resort to personally critizing a fellow member of this forum to bring attention to yourself?  Just take off your mask you hide behind.  You'll get attention.  Stand up as a "real" Queen Creek citizen on here to discuss your issues, instead of hiding behind a mask throwing insults to others.

Please show the research I did that came from Wikipedia. There is none.  But, If you can't, then you have made an unwarranted false accusation against me......or in other words, you have proven yourself a liar, a law (rule) breaker, a person of questionable integrity as most people are aware of on here, and now you have made an open plea to everyone to ignore my research in our debates on issues on here, as it is not considered true research.

Show me CF the Wiki research I posted.  Prove it.  Put up or shut up, little crime fighter  who's afraid to reveal himself as he swings his bully bat   against this 65 yr.old woman.     How many other old women have you hit today that brought you your daily jollies?  Do you throw blind people into the mix as you swing?    How about your wife?

Get your jolly's somewhere else little crimefighter and follow the WBM rules, so we don't have confrontations. It hinders the free flow of ideas.  I feel like I'm back teaching a junior high class, having to remind the student to behave and "follow the classroom rules.", so others can learn and understand.   I guess I need to call his parents perhaps.  You have their number CF?

Thanks for the laugh Bambi, I always enjoy these senseless rants.

Unfortunately the government media won't pass this along to the public. Imagine if ACORN were a Republican group; we'd see it on every morning news show, every evening news show, and probably on the news magazines.

It's so funny to me when libs assume that every conservative with a contrary opinion must listen to Hannity and Rush and follow all of the partisan blogs. I'd heard Obama's statement in its entirety and still view him to be socialist.

And nice "personal attack" ;) about the history class or two. Somehow I managed to get a masters degree and do post-graduate work without EVER having to take a history class! I do think society worked better without all of the government programs. The more government steps in to take care of us, the less we come together as a community to take care of each other. I truly believe that money and power corrupt, which is why I don't want the government having hoards of our tax dollars. I think it's a waste of money to spend millions of dollars erecting a Dr. Seuss statue; if MA wants a statue erected, seek private donations, not public tax dollars. And really, name just one thing the government has done well (besides waste tax dollars).

As far as Palin, it's just an excuse to say that all of her skeletons had to come out all at once. She was enormously popular in her state, yet the press never once showed us why. I think that is a huge part of the story. I compared Couric's interview with Palin to her interview with Biden and the contrast was amazing. With Palin, Couric was in attack and confrontation mode; with Biden they looked like two pals hanging out. Palin was pressed on specifics of how McCain is a maverick reformer, but Biden wasn't pressed on anything, although it would have been relevant to press him on what change Obama has brought about as a senator. But no, Biden got such "tough" "probing" questions as "Are you concerned that you'll have to change how you debate because you'll be debating a woman?" Stop the presses! How can Biden answer that tough question? If the interviews were going to be balanced, Palin should have been asked if she was concerned about being perceived differently than a man would when she debates. The witchhunt was shameful; the press ought to be ashamed of themselves.

I don't think Palin is the right candidate for 2012, but I admire her for her steadfastness against a hostile press.

PJ22 wrote: Who are these "most educated conservatives" that you're speaking of? Obama's use of the phrase "spread the wealth around" is socialist. Bush was not a conservative, which is probably why his overall approval ratings were low: libs were unhappy with the war and conservatives were unhappy with his spending.

Nice dodge, though. What of Palin? Why is she being attacked? Obama is not being attacked in the MSM, but Palin is (ie, 'quitter'; none of this talk existed when Hillary quit being senator to run for president).

This video is priceless (it's long; it starts getting interesting about 5 minutes in; and an interview at 11 minutes is telling):
http://www.pjtv.com/video/Louder_With_Crowder/__PJTV_Undercover%3A_Steven_Crowder_Investigates_CanadaCareWill_ObamaCare_Be_Any_Better%3F/2153/

Most real Conservatives---the one's who are actually in politics (senators, representatives), people who aren't trying to goose their book sales or radio revenue, regular people on the street who, believe it or not, don't follow these blogs the way we all do.  People who have taken a history class or two.

And I know we love to take things out of context, on both sides, but here's the statement in its entirety---is it socialist?  To me it says that if the poor and middle class get a good economy, and have some money, they will be able to spend more money, thereby helping the small businesses.  But I guess we all see what we want to see.

Obama:

“My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody. If you’ve got a plumbing business, you’re gonna be better off if you’re gonna be better off if you’ve got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you, and right now everybody’s so pinched that business is bad for everybody and I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody. But listen, I respect what you do and I respect your question, and even if I don’t get your vote, I’m still gonna be working hard on your behalf because small businesses are what creates jobs in this country and I want to encourage it.”

And as far as Palin, there are several reasons.

1.  She said some pretty ridiculous things.

2.  Look at Hillary Clinton---when she started becoming more outspoken she was pretty beat up as well.  People don't like/aren't ready for outspoken women with an opinion.  People aren't ready for a woman who can hunt and fish.  So a portion of the people couldn't handle her just as they couldn't handle Hillary.

3.  She couldn't perform.  She couldn't handle softballs thrown from the press---Or maybe she could have but McCain wouldn't let her.  they didn't let her talk for so long so people were really focussed on her when she finally did.

4.  Say what you want about Obama, Clinton, McCain, etc---but they were running for years.  No one heard of Palin.  So she got 2 years worth of skeletons in her closet that all came out in one month.  If everything about Obama came out in one month it would have sounded just as bad.

5.  I personally know of many people who either didn't vote or voted Obama because of Palin.  I hope the media lays off and she runs in 2012.  We will see then if she is ready to run the country.

Stay off Google, or be careful - don't judge the American will by a few narrow blog comments. This is turning into spy vs spy. The Obama camp/democrats want you to think their opposition is race based, but the arguments are about deeply serious conceptual differences. I think Obama is a front man for a socialist agenda. Bill Clinton quoted Obama during the campaign - "Tell me what you want and I'll sell it" - referring to the fiscal crisis of last summer which has bled into this year and promises to leak into the next. And when can we stop blaming "the Bush Administration" for the mortgage crisis driven by the Demoncratic congress who enalbled Fannie and Fredde to make high risk loans?

And we want goverment managing health care too?

On September 7, 2008, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) placed

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) that play

a critical role in the U.S. home mortgage market, in conservatorship. As conservator,

the FHFA has full powers to control the assets and operations of the firms. Dividends

to common and preferred shareholders are suspended, but the U.S. Treasury has put in

place a set of financing agreements to ensure that the GSEs continue to meet their

obligations to holders of bonds that they have issued or guaranteed. This means that the U.S. taxpayer now stands behind about $5 trillion of GSE debt.

Who are these "most educated conservatives" that you're speaking of? Obama's use of the phrase "spread the wealth around" is socialist. Bush was not a conservative, which is probably why his overall approval ratings were low: libs were unhappy with the war and conservatives were unhappy with his spending.

Nice dodge, though. What of Palin? Why is she being attacked? Obama is not being attacked in the MSM, but Palin is (ie, 'quitter'; none of this talk existed when Hillary quit being senator to run for president).

This video is priceless (it's long; it starts getting interesting about 5 minutes in; and an interview at 11 minutes is telling):

Jeff.  I'm not saying it is exclusively race.  But I am saying according to my research on here and on the news and on specials televised for our education, race is a factor in many instances.  Google it.  You'll see where many many are calling Obama the country's #1 nigger, to put it bluntly, and that sickens me to think we are still stuck in the prejudices we fought so hard to eliminate.  They're still there and they are coming out big time towards our African American President.  Comments by senators stating he needs to be stopped with gorilla glue.  Or he just must be stopped somehow.  That's inciting others.

How much money do you think we had to come up with (print) to fight WWII?  That was an unintended stimulus, but it worked.  A huge fusion of money into the system, creating jobs is what it takes, according to history, to get us out of this mess. And who suffered those consequences of spending.  No one.  It brought us into prosperity.

It wasn't just Clinton and Carter who suggested people buy homes as an investment.  Bush said it many times.  Own a home.  The American Dream.  And easy credit didn't just start in the last few years.  It started in the 20's.  Instant gratification via trading on Wall Street.  Buying on margins created the 1929 Stock market bubble.  Lower interest rates to 1% and people will borrow and speculate more than they should.  Enter the risky loan.  Risky loans with mtg. backed securities.  Sold in bulk to Wall Street Banks who bundled the loans into high yielding mtg. backed securities.  And sold to investors around the world.  The idea being by pooling risks that can be shared by investors, it should be safe for everyone, and thus commanded high ratings.  2006-2007 were the hottest years for these investments of mtg. backed securities according to my research.

Best comparison I heard was think of it as putting a huge amount of garbage into a compactor, and allow the compactor to squeeze it down to a nice smooth package.  Only it's still garbage in that nice attractive package.   What kind of loans were in those pretty packages?

What we call liar loans in the industry.  Stated income.  The borrower just states what he earns, without proof, and the lender believes him and states that amount on the loan without verification.  In other words, if you can breathe, you qualify.  That loan goes to Wall Street (AIG) and turns them into complicated derivatives, which in turn created this hyper market of finance.....phantom.

So my question is "Is history repeating itself?"  Have we embarked on the same path as we did in the 20's?  Paulson watched the credit markets seize up causing banks to stop lending to each other and a run on the money markets begin.  Yet the storm had been brewing for months.....a subprime meltdown caused by applying reckless borrowing by consumers, enticed by corrupt lenders, coupled with excessive leveraging by Wall Street.  All this, while telling us that the fundamentals of the economy are strong.

Bang.  Bust. Enter Bush.  He allowed $5 trillion dollars, that is tax payers dollars, to be swallowed up by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to salvage them from the fall.  But, Wall Street collapsed anyway.  So Paulson to the rescue with a $85 billion infiltration of our money again for AIG.  Then comes the $800 billion dollar TARP failout.  Then, on Oct. 10,  2008, the Dow Jones dropped 25% and the gains of 10 years of prosperity were wiped out

Starting in 2000, that year marked the culmination of 30 years of regulation.  De-regulation started and contributed to this huge bust we are experiencing.  Doesn't make any difference for the sake of conversation who caused it, just that it happened, and here we are today.  Requiring another mass infusion of our money into the system in order to sustain ourselves.  Only we don't have a war to use as reason.  Just that we're broke and out of balance.

When capitalism becomes unfettered, the consequences are what we see today.

you know, i am not so sure he isn't the most liberal of all.  he (along with D House/Senate) sure are spending liberally !

i should have switched to D party in the primaries and got out strong for Hilary.  i am convinced that she would have been more moderate in her spending.  oh well, that is a boat that done left the harbor already.

so, all i can do at this point is make the contact with legislators myself and hopefully get others to see what i see and have them make their voices heard too.

FYI---most educated conservatives don't actually think that Obama is a socialist.  It's a good tool for the radio and tv guys, but in a real conversation or interview most acknowledge that he is a liberal but very much a capitalist.  You do know that, I hope?  Because if you are going to label Obama a socialist, are you going to label every other politician who supported the bailouts, social security, medicare, etc. a socialist as well?  Was Nixon a socialist?  Was Bush a socialist?  Was Reagan a socialist?

What about the attacks on Palin? When scandal plagues a Rep in the Senate, he usually resigns, and this is considered good. Palin has been distracted with ethics investigations, so she resigns, and she is labeled a 'quitter'.

Palin believes in abstinence, yet had a pregnant teen daughter, so supposedly this is fair game for attacks. Yet nobody highlights the fact that teens still get pregnant even when sex ed is taught to them; they still get STDs, etc. It's an EXCUSE to attack Bristol because of Palin's beliefs. So why is Palin such a target? Because she's a woman?

Attacks happen on both sides of the aisle. Conservatives see Obama along with Pelosi taking our country on a socialist tract, and the mainstream media isn't doing any serious journalism to question the policies being put forth and to analyze how similar policies haven't worked overseas; THAT is why there is such loud opposition.

I'm definitely not saying that you, or David, are putting race into the issue---I've never seen anything remotely racist from you guys.  I'm just wondering, in the big picture of what's going on in this country, from the blogs, the am radio, the comments on azcentral, why are people so angry when it comes to Obama.  He's not the most liberal ever, he won't be the last liberal---why with him is it so angry?

I don't know, maybe it's not him.  Maybe we are going to keep getting nastier and nastier.  It really started getting mean with Clinton, and then the Dem's had to rip apart Bush, and now the Rep's are taking it to a new level with Obama, and then what?

Again, sorry if I sounded like I thought the people on this sight were being racist---I'm talking more about the overall web I guess.

nybrian, you seriously can't come up with anything other than race that people are concerned about under current administration ?

for me, it is very similar to what DavidB posted... spending, spending and more spending.  all done with very little oversight and such a mad dash to get things done without actual dialog... that no one is even reading what is in these bills.

Bush was partly responsible for digging the hole we are in. he was digging at a pace that was not helpful. first rule of hole digging...STOP digging when you are in over your head. that first lesson has been lost on Obama who is digging at a far faster pace. (about 10 times or more faster than Bush ever dug. Obama has full on TURBO, AFTERBURNER digging in place)

you've heard the phrase, "haste makes waste"   please teach it to Obama and the House/Senate.

none of this is sustainable.

How about the fact that this President has spent more borrowed money than ALL OTHER PRESIDENTS BEFORE HIM COMBINED?

How about the fact that he is the first President in history to nationalize and dictate to private corporations and banks?

How about the fact that Mr. Transparent won't tell us where any of our nation's children's money is going?

How about his administration of people with shady pasts calling us a 'Nation of cowards'?

Exactly what kind of reaction is that supposed to elicit other than anger?

I think the fact is that most of us are fed up with our government in general. It started with Bush. Just look at the amount of hate that was spewed upon him. A lot of us feel that our government no longer works for us. All I have seen since this election is that this trend has accelerated dramatically. We need to make a 180 and fast.

I am far more voistrous than I ever have been because I feel a huge sense of urgency to educate people. I am still just dumbfounded that people I speak with have no idea what TARP, Omnibus, or Cap and Trade are. Some have no idea what health care reform will cost them and think it just means "free health care for everyone". Cap and trade... "Isn't that a Wall street regulation thing?".

Man, I could do this all morning... but I better get to work. I have a LOT of taxes to pay to support someone who is watching The View right now.

I have a question.  If it is not race, why is it that people are so much more angry about this President compared to all others?  I would really like to know if this is going to be the norm with every Democrat who becomes President, or is it something else about this man.  Because this is a pretty fairly divided country, so for the remainder of our lives we are going to have a pretty even split of D's and R's.

So can you guys tell me, what specifically this guy has done wrong?  How is this guy worse than what Clinton or Kerry or Gore would have been?  I guess I'm only trying to figure out whether this is going to be the normal mode from now on---the losing party will start from day one trying to tear the other guy down.  Because I don't think that makes us a better country.

what does this even mean ?  i think you are looking for more than "respect".  i already respect my fellow human, regardless of their lot in life.  but to be quite honest i respect more the person with the strong drive, will and desire to improve his/her lot in life.

please elaborate as to what you seek.  i don't recall hearing this exact term/phrase being part of the public dialog during the recent campaign.

According to the History Channels' excellent comparison of the Great Depression and Our Recession last night, this was at the crux of the problem......Lack of Regulation and Wall Street went off. President Hoover sat back at the on slaught of the Depression, telling people that the market will correct itself. No infusion of money was necessary....or so he thought.  People became fearful as banks decided to not loan money as they were fearful also.  So fear pushed the people to make a run on the banks and hoard their money in their mattresses.  Fear was in charge.  Just like today.

Roosevelt came in and asked the people to stop being fearful, and to start spending again and place their money back into the banks.  They felt such a sigh of relief that a real "leader" was in office now.  One they can trust.  So they did what he said.

Then his first stimulus came along in the form of the many programs he started, but it was too little too late.  It took the largest stimulus package there was to bring us out of the mess, and that was the jobs created by WWII.  My grandmother quit her nursing job at Cook County Hospital to work building aircraft.  A new job for her as she released "her" nursing job to another person.  It took a huge stimulus creating thousands, if not millions of jobs, to get us back to balance, and it worked.

So why not work with this President in achieving what the majority of Americans want.....respect for the less forunate's plight, balance and equality.  Help us right this ship by being supportive instead of resisting, making fun of him and demoralizing the rest of us thru constant negative diatribes against him.  What you're doing is creating a sense of fearmongering, and that stops confidence from returning.

Come up with a better Plan. Only yours will have tax cuts for the rich.  And for Gosh Sakes, give us, Pinal County, your stimulus money as we will take it with pride and gratefulness and use it for the good of our people. I'm talking about that million dollars you asked for.  Why didn't you list that as a part of the stimulus output?  Or did you only post those that give rise to speculation of what qualifies in your book?  It's not right to criticize and ridicule this program on one hand, then take the money with the other hand.  It's not a perfect program but it's a beginning, and people are waiting for the jobs created by it.  So if you already have a job, then keep your fear mongering to yourselves, as the rest of us are still waiting for that job offer and are still trying to build  our confidence

The last thing we need to hear is how bad it still is and how much worse it's going to get...... and not to have confidence in our President by your continual mocking of him and efforts to prove him unworthy of the Office of President.  And pork always slips in, even by Republicans.  That's not the President's fault.  That's the lack of participation of the "No Plan" Republican congressmen, who have made up their mind that they are against it and won't contribute anything but "NO".  The Party of old men and younger men who love to bed down other women while their wifes think they are working for the people.  Adultress' under the guise of puritanical right wing republicans. Ha.  If they will lie and cover up to their families, they'll do it to us.

Bambi,  i am really disappointed in your post.  come on, you are better able to debate than simply pulling out the RACE card.  SHAMEFUL !

I see. So now he IS 'your' president. He is the current leader of our country, and I will respect the office. But I certainly don't respect the man and his beliefs. I will continue to speak out against his war on success and entrepreneurship. If you call that undermining, then so be it.

I find it funny how lefties use his race to label anyone who speaks out against his policies. To me, THAT is racism.

You elude to the true agenda of liberals and this administration. "Balance and equality". What ever happened to equal opportunity? What do most Americans who actually work want for this country? The latest polls are showing that it isn't what O's pitching.

You call it fear mongering, I call it a plea to people to wake up and smell the inflation.
You call it tax cuts for the rich, I call it tax cuts for small business who employ people.

People will be waiting a long time for the temporary jobs that this spending bill creates.

I love how you selectively choose Republicans to slam for adultery. Did you forget about Clinton? Please.

You see it as a hate train, I see it as resistance. Do I hate being fleeced by our federal government? You bet. Do I hate looking at every child when I'm out and about and thinking... "We just robbed you blind."? Absolutely. Do I hate the fact that this administrations is destroying everything that made this country what it is in a matter of months? Yes, I do hate those things.

Perhaps you would find a more suitable train in San Francisco or any place in France. I think that the majority of the people out here are prideful of their country and are willing to fight to keep it. By posting here, I am doing nothing more than trying to get people to look at what has REALLY happened in the past 6 months. Not what Gibbs keeps trying to ram down our throats.

Enjoy the Kool-Aid

[size=Arizona stimulus contracts run from eggs to solar]
Phoenix Business Journal - by Mike Sunnucks

Federal stimulus money coming into Arizona includes contracts for chicken eggs, asphalt, toilets, construction equipment, solar panels and electrical systems.

Recovery.gov, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Web site, shows Hickman’s Family Farms getting two orders totaling $171,300 for eggs from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Conco Concrete Specialists received a $250,000 contract to build sidewalks and toilets at campsites in northeastern Arizona.

Brimhall Sand Rock & Building Materials in Snowflake received a $16,995 contract to provide asphalt mix for repairs at Petrified Forest National Park.

Phoenix-based Kearney Electric Inc. won a $134,400 contract from the Federal Communications Commission. The FCC has also awarded Gilbert-based Primex Technology Inc. a $650,000 contract.

Some federal stimulus work in Arizona has been snapped up by out-of-state firms. New Mexico-based Crystal Clear Maintenance Inc. won a $450,600 job for brush thinning and landscaping in the Tonto National Forest northeast of Phoenix.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is paying Coyote Loader Sales Inc. of Ohio for a construction dumper to be used at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in north Phoenix.

New York-based Syska Hennessy Group Construction Inc. won a $391,000 contract to install solar panels at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, according to the federal contract data.

So those that said that Bush ruined America's world image and that we brought terrorism on ourselves because of our foreign policy, now don't care what the rest of the world thinks? The door swings both ways. These other countries were in love with the idea of Obama. They are finding that the reality is a whole different thing.

He campaigned on a fresh start with diplomatic relations since the whole world hated us because of Bush. He was going to break bread with dictators and communists to solve our differences diplomatically and everyone was just going to hold hands and sing together. Remember that? It seems Clinton's reset button ( or 'overpriced' button as it turned out ) might need a few more presses.

Of course it's important to have good diplomatic relations with other countries. But a leader must be prepared to go it alone too if its in the interests of the American people. I agree with you that we should not care a whole lot about what Russia thinks, but the irony is amusing to me. I'm just sayin', if a whole group left me hangin' with a hand out like that, I would get the point.

Meanwhile, he is getting things done.  Things that the people who elected him want done.  Things that will change America.  So either way it will be on him---things work, he goes down as great President, things don't, he's another Carter or Bush.  I like his odds.

Snopes is usually spot on. Has anyone here EVER made a 'hand gesture' like that? Sorry, I'll believe my own eyes.

LOL!! Keep slamming the kool aid, Bambi. Let me help you... he is getting totally 'dissed'. This is the diplomatic equivelant of being left hanging with a high five - 4 times in a row! It's kind of funny, actually. He reached his hand out only to be completely ignored by every member of that group. This guy could do his business on your kitchen table and you would be 'amped' about it.

Ultimately it comes down to either Obama being the host and introducing Medvedev to the assembled individuals or Medvedev is the host and they are more eager to shake his hand than Obama’s.

No, ultimately it comes down to the fact that none of these people wanted to shake his hand or even acknowledge his presence. I'm sure this had to be really confusing for him after having the press fawn over him during his campaign and his honeymoon.

We are trying to dig ourselves out of a very deep black hole that took 8 years to create.

It took much longer than 8 years for the "homes for everyone" policies of the Carter era, picked up and accelerated by Clinton, to come crumbling down. That hole is no being turned into an enormous crater that will take decades to dig out of if its even possible at all when we are drowning in interest payments to China. Do you really think the money to pay for all these entitlements will just come out of thin air? There's not enough rich people in the country to tax to pay for it.

CF:  Maybe little increments of success is what we'll see.  How many states have received their stimulus money? Has the Town of QC received their share yet?  According to the Recovery site.
Budget officials in Arizona stated that more staff are needed to implement the estimated $6.3 billion in total Recovery Act funds that are to be received by Arizona.

How about this stimulus money in N.H. http://www.unionleader.com/article.aspx?headline=Stimulus:+Millions+in+grants,+tons+of+scrutiny&articleId=8b3edcd5-d085-4c67-9254-e7c9543970d5

  • The Recovery Act Blog

WASHINGTON (AP) ― President Barack Obama said Monday that the nation is in a very deep recession and that it will take a considerable amount of time for things to turnaround.

Eager to show action on the ailing economy, the president promised Monday to speed federal money into hundreds of public works projects this summer, vowing that 600,000 jobs will be created or saved.

  • Many economists are saying we need another stimulus amount.  The first wasn't big enough.  So, who do you believe.  Which economist?  I think the Office of Budget has the best opinion of what is going to work and what isn't, and should admonish our Congress and economists to continue working on an effective sustainable plan to keep us afloat.

We are trying to dig ourselves out of a very deep black hole that took 8 years to create.  We'll be digging for awhile I'm afraid.

Look, all of this stuff is pretty irrelevant when it comes to what matters to Americans, which is the economy.  Unemployment in Michigan is 15% and climbing.  Many states are now above 10%.  I used to look at unemployment rates like these in Europe and laugh that when America's unemployment edged up above 5% people would freak out.  Now it's our turn to be the country with the economy that sucks.  Foreclosures are at record highs.  Does anyone think the average American who is struggling to put food on the table for his family cares about foreign affairs right now?  The stimulus package was loaded with non-job creating garbage.  For as big of a Keynesian stimulus as our children will be paying for, we aren't getting a hell of a lot of bang for our buck when it comes to actually righting this ship.

You take some photo ops to somehow make what happened in Russia seem irrelevant. This was a huge declaration of disrespect. Did you not see the video that shows every single person in the Russian envoy completely ignore him?
It was more relevant to what nybrian said about him being recognized as a "real" President but it also addresses the irrelevancy of Russia's opinion.  It is irrelevant what happened in Russia in my opinion.  I don't care what those Russian Greeters in that welcome line think about him or us at this point in time.  It is probably pretty bad since we were going to put missles in their back yard, under Bush's foreign policy.  That's my opinion.  Let's see what World Public Opinion has to say....  http://www.americans-world.org/PDF/russia_data_update-8_2008.pdf   It's the status quo minds of the old Russian mindset that dominates those guys in that line. And the anger at what Bush was planning in the missle department among other obvious deficiencies of administering a country/government.  And that's what Obama has do; convince and persuade Putin and his partner to follow him on the road to peace and prosperity and forget about the Bush Foreign Policy.  Good thing that Russia has a young leader.  Things will change in my opinion.  Just about all those countries prefer the Western (American) lifestyle of living and thinking, and those who choose to stick to their old iron age customs and beliefs, will soon be overcome with the new mentality of freedom.  Freedom from all despotic thinking and draconian laws.  Introduced by this new generation.nybrian:   ...but he may actually go down as a President that made a difference
Note the look on Obama's face when the 4th person refuses to shake hands with him.

His 'stimulus' ideas have been summarily shot down in Europe. It's pretty sad when Germany and France are telling you that you're spending too much money on entitlement programs. That's the pot calling the kettle black.

He has gained nothing for the American people on his recent European tour - except, perhaps, for the glamor shots you were kind enough to share. They are committing no troops for Afghanistan, not accepting any of the Gitmo detainees, showing no support for stiffened sanctions for Iran, and are not interested in his cap and tax agenda. Although he is still winning the popularity contest with the people of Europe ( albeit by declining margins ), when it comes to concrete policy and action, they are empty handed. I'm not seeing the 'love'.
He has gained a great deal for the American people. I'm sorry you don't see the love and accomplishments.  It's there.

I think when we lean to the left of the Europeans as we are now, that we really need to re-evaluate what the agenda really is.
Who is "we"?  Congress?  Right Wing Republicans?  The Family on C Street?
So far the only person I have seen warm up to him is Jugo Chavez. are you sure?

Oh, and you might want to replace your Saudi King picture with this one. It's hard to tell, but that is your President bowing: my President?  Is he not yours too?

"When in Rome, do as the Romans do."

We all have different perspectives on things so your answer always depends on how you look at things....just a gesture of respect imo.

The Leader of Russia shaking hands with Obama.

And restored the confidence and shook hands with many other world leaders.

So far, they all seem to love him, except for perhaps Iran and North Korea.  They just need to change their leaders, and it looks like that just may happen in the near future.

And here's McCain, after shaking his hand

And let's not forget our last leader.

Oh, there is no doubt about that. Hey, at least he has restored the confidence and respect of the leaders of Russia:

Point well taken nybrian.  You mentioned Caterpillar.  My son in law who used to live in Orchard Ranches, just moved to Kansas.  He worked for Cat out here and was let go because of the economy a year 1/2 ago.  He was in top management.  He's been looking and looking for a similar position, anywhere in his field....and waiting.  The Kansas operation just called him, stating business was picking up and they needed him.  He left this a.m., taking my daughter and granddaughter with him, to Wichita.    As much as it hurts me, it's great news for them and perhaps a sign of the times. A glimmer of hope.  Heavy equipment used to build infrastructure is selling again.
