I would love to run BD in my Ford, but the prospect of being on the hook for a 20K engine has kept me away. According to http://www.biodieselnow.com/blogs/general_biodiesel/archive/2006/12/17/vehicle-warrantees-and-biodiesel.aspx, they will only warranty it at 5% or less Biodiesel / Diesel mix.

Interestingly, an exhaustive search on ford.com yielded nothing with regard to warranty. I found a lot of "we're working on it" stuff, but that's it.

I wanted to address a point made by a resident below regarding the offsetting of picking-up recyclables.  Mountain View Recycling actually uses Biodiesel in their truck.  Here is the company's website where it's purchased and a little bit about the pollution factor.

Thanks for the support to the town's people and to Jeff's posting on this forum as well.

hate the idea of recycling to save the earth, just to offset it by having a big gas guzzling, poluting garbage truck, individually pick up my stuff.  It would be much easier , cost effective and efficient to have a drop off point, that I could stop by on the way to work

I am another totally satisfied customer. What is really nice is that if you can't fit everything in the bin, you can just set it beside the can. They will pick it up. Great company, great service.

I dont know the ins and outs, but logic tells me that the town could benefit from this somehow by selling this stuff to a recycler.

I support the schools, by dropping off my paper and magazines.  I support my kids college funds with cans.

there is no big payback right now on any of these recyclable commodities.  it used to be aluminum and copper, etc... paid a bunch.  those markets dropped out.  like you say... it costs money to operate a truck to come get it all and then a processing facility to sort it... there isn't much of a payback to recycling like you might think.

part of the RFP that went out did include a request to price a drop-off center for apartment dwellers and others that find it more convenient to stop by on way to/from somewhere else.

Mountain View Recycling.  http://www.mountainviewrecycling.com/

i have this.  when they first came into TOQC, i think they had a special reduced sign up fee.  it costs me $10 per month.  i LOVE having this service.  since i signed up, i only have to put out my regular trash bin once every other week.  it turns out that 80% of what i was tossing is recyclable.  i actually considered giving up my regular trash provider and simply paying my neighbor $1 per bag to put my trash into his bin.  i would come out ahead doing this and dropping the $15 per month cost of my current trash hauler.

here is additional info about where TOQC stands with respect to Recycling... http://www.queencreek.org/Index.aspx?page=263

and this from the East Valley Tribune...

Queen Creek officials interviewed three waste companies last week as the process to offer the first town-wide, curbside trash pickup moves forward. A contract for trash and recycling service should go to the Town Council for a vote by August, said Deputy Town Manager Shane Dille. The council will meet in a closed session next week to give guidance on developing the contract, Dille said. The cost and level of service offered will depend on council decisions like whether to offer residents curbside or community recycling, how often to offer bulk pickup and similar questions.

that offers Recycling and how much it is per month?

Anywhere to drop this stuff off locally?  Would it benefit the town to have a dumpster outside city hall somewhere?
