| Our horses would lay right out in the hot summer sun on the red hot ground. Sometimes looked dead! The key is for them to have a choice. Sun or shade.

I know some people say there's nothing wrong with forcing a horse to stand in direct sunlight of 115F without shade. But I feel as though *that* is inhumane. Especially when you see the horse with its back toward the sun. And you can tell its getting dumber by the minute as its brain cooks like an egg.

I am a little sensitive to this due to having just returned from Morocco, where I had the pleasure of going to their main food shopping area in Rabat. There was a whole area set aside for horse meat. The only thing that saved me was that there wasn't any horse heads hanging from nails on the side of the meat stalls, like there were for camels, goats, cows and all other meats.
Seriously though, horse slaughter is horrible. The animals are not treated humanely before they are processed. It is very different situation than beef.

Yeah CF...why would you waste all that good steak. Although the problem is that it sticks to the roof of your mouth.

I'm so glad these horses all have their home now! God bless people who take them!

| Wait, somebody was just giving away 50 horses? How many crates of glue does that make? My profit could have been tremendous had I read this earlier.

the truth is that "heartless conservative" is an oxymoron. conservatives donate more to charity and they want and recognize the best in his fellow man.

| An update on this. It appears all the horses have been placed. I got a message from ABC 15 about running this story, but fortunately they all had a home by then. Thx again for those that PM'd me.

I recevied this email from a good friend. I thought someone out here in QC might be able to provide a home for some of these guys. I didn't want to post their phone number on a public forum, but please PM me if you can help:
Pass this on to others you know who might want their FREE horse TODAY!
A sad situation of a father's death has resulted in the family being
unable to feed & care for his 50 "orphaned" horses. If you or someone
you know would like a FREE horse or horses, please contact me asap!!
They are here in the Phoenix valley. Even if you have a pasture and
could "foster" some of them until new owners are located, it would help.
It was Will Rogers who said, "The outside of a horse is good for the
inside of a man." (or woman) There's nothing quite like the friendly
whinny greeting you when you walk into the barn and the nuzzling you
will get for a simple carrot! Get your FREE 1,000 lbs of UNCONDITIONAL
LOVE right now! Imagine riding your new faithful steed! They will take
you, as the Drinkers of the Wind, that they are, wherever you want to go
and I guarantee you will enjoy it more than hiking on your own two feet!
Please let me know if you or someone you know is interestedLast edited on Fri Jun 12th, 2009 12:36 pm by
