Wonder what percentage of the whole is 11 students? Sounds like they may have used their army training at Canyon to attempt this coup. Like war games only the real thing.
Court ordered, violent, serious male offenders.
These young men perhaps should be trained in the real army; or maybe this "brawl" is the result of that training? Afterall, they said it was "hand to hand combat"
These things used to happen at the Arizona Boys Ranch next door to Canyon. I taught school at the ABR in the late 70's for 3 years. Court ordered boys also. Brawls? many, but not with me or the other female teachers. Just the male counselors, House staff and male social workers.
Just another bunch of young troubled warriors directing their violent tendencies in a struggle to become King of the Mountain, instead of directing it into something positive. I suggest they give them some onsite vocational training.......have them build "playgrounds" or other community projects, instead of locking them up.
It is not the school run by the National Guard. its the one next door. Canyon State (Boys Ranch)
You know now that I think about it, maybe we should shut down all schools, we have to have police at all of them because of the fights, drugs and alcohol. The Legion doesn’t even have problems like that. I have never seen police assigned at a Legion Post.

11 students arrested after 'brawl' at Queen Creek school Reported by: Deborah Stocks

Last Update: 4:34 pm QUEEN CREEK, AZ -- Officials say 11 students were arrested and charged with aggravated assault after a fight with teachers and staff at a charter school in Queen Creek Wednesday.
Officials said deputies, Gilbert police and fire personnel were called to Canyon State Academy, near Rittenhouse and Hawes roads, where they found dozens of students and staff members in "hand to hand combat" in classrooms and hallways and outside.
According to a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office news release, some students were using broomsticks as weapons.
Several people were reportedly injured in the brawl and all were treated for minor injuries.
Students over the age of 18 were booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail and the juveniles were booked into the Southeast Juvenile Detention Center, officials said.
The school is reportedly a state-accredited charter school which takes in troubled males from around the country that are court ordered to attend such schools to continue their education.
According to the news release, nearly every student who attends the school is listed as a serious offender with past violent charges.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio said, “Teachers have a tough enough job today without having to go to school every day worrying about being physically assaulted like this. Hopefully, these students will be held responsible by the criminal justice system.”
