As part of a study on the movement and population growth of Canada Geese, a roundup and tagging project will take place 5:30-9 a.m. Wednesday, May 27 at Chaparral Park, 5401 N. Hayden Road.
No geese will be harmed or removed from the park during this process. After the birds are tagged, they will be released back into the park.
The program is a partnership between the city, Arizona Game and Fish Department and Arizona State University to study urban Canada Geese in the Scottsdale parks and golf courses along Indian Bend Wash.
By learning about the movements and population growth of the urban geese, park staff will be able to determine the most effective way to manage their presence in Scottsdale parks.
To accommodate the geese roundup, Chaparral Park’s south parking lot and boat ramp will be closed to the public from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Wednesday. The boat ramp and parking lot will reopen to the public following the release of geese.
Current time is 04:50 am
