I am an unfortunate resident who didn't retire. I still need to work, and am frustrated because with the exception of a few minimum wage fast food jobs, none of the bigger businesses in Sun City seem to hire Sun City residents. The banks, insurance companies, newspapers, all are run on 20 and 30 somethings. One would think that with the wealth of experience and education available at their doorsteps, they would take advantage of their good fortune. Very few of us have dementia or are too disabled to work. Our insurance premiums may cost more, but we show up every day and we don't need maternity leave. I have been told I have an impressive resume with years of experience in media, but it gets me literally no response in Sun City. Ditto for the Catholic churches, where I previously spent several years. It can't be my personality, since I've had only 1 interview out of about 15 resumes. I'm seriously considering moving out of Sun City, so hopefully, I will have a better chance for survival!
