Why go to a bar and be depressed when you can be safe at home and drink cheap and naked?

I think with just about every restaurant serving drinks most business people feel a bar wouldn't work around here even though it would. Coco's has a regular bar in a different room off the main dining room they also have booths and tables if you want a bite to eat.

We will try the Rio Mirage.  The Golden Star is ---well not bad.  Thanks for the tip on the bar at Coco's, I did not know about that.  Too bad though we don't have an inviting place like the pubs of England and Ireland or like the tapas bars of Spain--simple food and drinks and lots of ambience.

Thanks much.  We will try those suggestions.  We do know Lee Lees Market and it is great.  We do go for Asian food--I've spent some time in India, Thailand, China, and Japan --great food in everyone.

We've been to Rio Mirage and the food and service is great the prices aren't bad either. There is a small Chinese restaurant the address is 10050 W. Bell. The name is The Golden Star and their food is pretty good. Coco's on Bell has a nice little bar if you want to try that.

Well then, you need to try the Kabuki Japanese restaurant across T-Bird from Lowe's and a great Mexican place is in El Mirage called Rio Mirage Cafe Y Cantina near the railroad tracks that cross Grand 12245 W Santa Fe.  A good World Market is Lee Lee on Catus and 59th.  Great prices and food from around the world and excellent produce and meat and fish.  You can not beat this market anywhere!  It is worth the trip, less that 6 miles I think!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL!

We moved to SC just over 4 years ago and have adapted well.  We came because one daughter needed to move here for health reasons and she lives in her own house fairly closeby. Another daughter in Glendale who has lived here many years encouraged us to move to SC.  With two grown grandkids we now have an extended family within a half hour drive.  We have lived in Arizona 50 years now so we remember when Sun City was just farm land and there wasn't much else around here.  Sun City is aging like all of us here and is beginning to show some signs of those years.  Overall it has been kept up much, much better than similiar sized housing developments of the same or even newer vintage.  I do wish the county would inform us of the schedule for resurfacing the streets (some are down to gravel).  As individuals we need to be aware of the need to avoid the accumulation of weeds, unkept shrubs, trees, and lawns, and junk.  I see patios and screened patios that look like unorganized storage space.  It is sad to see that the once vibrant shopping areas have degenerated.  We need a good specialty grocery, a really good family run Mexican Restaurant.  Line Thai is a great place but an equivalent Chinese and or Japanese restaurant would be welcome.  Also I would like to see a "watering hole" or pub-like place for friends to meet on these hot afternoons for some good companionship.  The New York Bakery on Grand is a great place for morning get together but we need more of that ambience.  I do not know what effort is made to attract business to Sun City or even who has that responsibility--surely not the County.  Overall we are happy here and we have a wonderful neighborhood.  We miss the forrests, mountains, and friends of our former life but are not complaining--much!

I'm one of the lucky people that was able to retire at the age of 56 and to be honest the snow and cold of the northeast was finally getting to me so here I am. The summers can be brutal but you can't beat the winters here. What I found in Sun City is most people if you take the time to talk with them are friendly which is something you don't find in many small cities any more. The other thing is the centers and everything else we have here whether you use them or not you can't beat the price. In a sense we all use them because if one day you decide to sell those courses and centers will help you sell. All in all I think it's a good place to live.

Nice effort on your part Paulgro. It would be great to see a renewed interest in this site and the discussion of topics that would help bring us together as a community. And therein lie the main reason we moved to Sun City.

From the moment i laid eyes on it, i was a attracted to it's quaint look and feel. There were any number of other age restricted communities we visited and all were newer and more glitzy. Sun City just had the feel of home or better put, comfortable like a well worn pair of sneakers.

Of course most see the opportunities to play: Golf courses, swimming pools, recreation centers and the hundred plus clubs to grow on a personal level. Don't get me wrong, those were all factors in our choosing Sun City, but what i loved most was the self-governance. The obligation for the residents to take ownership and help preserve and shape our destiny was an underlying point that made the decision to move here easy.

In the end, whenever we leave the walls, no matter for a couple of hours or a couple of days, ultimately once we drive back through the walls and into Sun City a sense of calm and serenity washes back over us. It's just that simple a concept...it is a great place to live.

Forget politics and the economy for a while since most seem to be tired of it.

Why did you move to Sun City and what do you like about it?
