The wall will be fixed with money from the HOA and an aluminum sign will replace the tile sign that was on the wall. It was posted here someplace but I can't find it now.

Why not fix the damaged wall at the corner of 107th and Olive, where it used to say welcome to Sun City, before someone drove through it.

What: Unveiling Ceremony for New Sun City Welcome Signs
When: 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2009
Where:  Sundial Recreation Center Mall
14801 N. 103rd Avenue (Just west of Boswell Boulevard)

Sun City--- On Tuesday, May 19, 2009, Chairman Max Wilson, of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, Sun City Prides and SCHOA will conduct an “Unveiling” ceremony commemorating the installation of colorful new “Welcome to Sun City” signs. The new roadway signs displaying the yellow and red “swirling” Sun City sun design will be permanently installed over the next few weeks at major Sun City entry points.

“I am proud to represent a community that takes such pride in itself, “said Wilson.

The event will take place at 10:30 a.m., at the Sundial Recreation Center, 14801 N. 103rd Avenue just west of Boswell Boulevard.  Community residents are invited to take part in the official Unveiling Ceremony and reception. Participants include representatives of the Sun City Prides, SCHOA, the Sun City 50th Anniversary Committee, as well as the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT).

“The new signs are the result of a desire to have better signs for Sun City as the 50th anniversary celebration in 2010 approaches,” said Walt Patterson, SCHOA President.  The Beautification Committee of the Sun City Prides worked up a design and went to a number of Sun City organizations to gather support for a possible fund drive to pay for the signs.  After some modification, the design was presented to the Maricopa County Department of Transportation. County officials adjusted the design to meet roadway sign standards and agreed to fabricate, install and maintain the new signs in County right-of-way.

“The new reflective welcome signs will soon become a reality because of the cooperative efforts of the PRIDES, the 50th Anniversary Committee, SCHOA, the Visitors Center, the Civic Foundation of Sun City, RCSC and MCDOT,” said Beverly Sisler, Sun City PRIDES.
