Take bunker rocks home
Here’s how we can increase the number of golfers utilizing Sun City golf courses without appointing another committee.
Each Sun City men’s and women’s golf association member will invite two golfers from outside the area to play our courses. We’ll entice the golfers we invite by telling them about the rocks in the bunkers. We’ll explain that some of the rocks are larger than golf balls. This situation is so unique, golfers will come to Sun City from thousands of miles away to see sand bunkers full of rocks because this is a most unusual situation. Result: Increased play.
Our visitors will enjoy golfing Sun City even more when we tell them they are welcome to take bunker rocks home as souvenirs or as a reminder of this extraordinary golf experience. You see, this whole problem of decreasing golf activity will be solved and we will get rid of a few bunker rocks as well. What a concept.
While your guests are in town, show them the damaged Sun City sign/wall at the corner of 107th and Olive avenues. They will be more than amused when you tell them the damage occurred 10 months ago. But really, what’s the hurry? A look at the 107th and Olive situation could help our visitors understand the bunker mess that we have been golfing with for years.
One WAG suggested the lack of sand in the golf course bunkers was the result of a sand shortage. We just didn’t have enough for our Recreation Centers of Sun City leaders to bury their heads and fill the bunkers at the same time. What a shame.
