Public response appreciated
On behalf of the Sun Cities Area Transit Board of Directors, I want to thank all of community members who responded to our fund drive and those volunteers who helped us over the past six months.
We also want to thank the staff and volunteers at the Banner Olive Branch Senior Center for their wonderful assistance with the mailing of fund drive materials.
Based on the letters and compliments we receive, we know that our service is improving and that we provide a valuable and necessary service to the community. We have been providing that service for more than 26 years, and we hope to be here for many more. Even when one person feels that service can be improved, we want to continue to improve.
To the individual in the “Speak Out” forum (“Improve service,” Sun City Independent, May 6, 2009) who complained of rude drivers and long wait times, we added an ombudsman function six months ago to assist in resolving differences and improving our service. That individual reports directly to me and I work with him to resolve complaints and find transportation solutions for individuals whenever possible.
If you have issues to discuss or difficulties with our service, please call us at 623-977-8363 and ask to speak to the ombudsman. Your call will be treated in confidence and you will receive a response within 24 hours.
Peter Davis, president
Sun Cities Area Transit
