Keep education as priority
Paul Bender, Arizona State University professor, has helped our state and public education by winning the dispute over tax dollars going to private/religious schools. Clint Bolick, Goldwater Institute director, has been able to take money away from public schools for many years.
Last year alone the state lost $70 million since it went to the private schools instead of keeping it to help run the state.
It is about time the courts have found this practice to be unconstitutional. Thank you Mr. Bender for your efforts. Now, we need to work on making tests more fair for students who might not be super good in all areas, but can still be very successful if given a chance to attend college or a technical school. Advanced students should be challenged so universities will receive them with open arms.
Education should be the top priority even in a downward trend in our economy. This is the only way to make our state compete for high paying jobs.
