I was walking my dogs and they sniffed out more cockroaches. I was at the town hall ready to file to run for Mayor. Just too many infestations to deal with. This is right behind town hall. I wonder how many "units" are in this subdivision. I see so many doors and meters where do they all go to? How did the code enforcer miss this one?

So, Why don't you just pay your taxes? You really have nothing to worry about especially if you have 7 years worth of receipts for your rented apartments and have been properly reporting the income. I wonder maybe you posted this just to get free advertising? By looking at the Kent property link it looks like you got a deal on the place in 1999 & an excellent location plus+ the taxes are really cheap. You might want to slap a coat of paint on the front of the building and use a spell checker when you post(especially in your line of business). I've used your services before and am a satisfied repeat customer.

Just a bunch of crybabies. Again, all you want to do is gripe about the wrong doings of Camden leaders. You did have your chance and didn't step up for change. Maybe now you will go away move somewhere else and live happily ever after. I bet you were a bunch of tattletales growing up..I see you haven't grown up just yet. How funny. Let me guess you call and say hey friend lets go and take pictures and tell someone...hahahaha it's so d**n funny. just a bunch of crybabies. Immature crybabies. Whats funny is everyone knows exactly who you are. Just watch YOUR back.

After all the complaining you and the others do yet nobody wants to stand up and run against the current Mayor.  As I said in another post if he runs unoppsed you all need to stop complaining because you had your chance to change things and you failed.  Put up or shut up  (as the saying goes).

Sometimes things get put into real perspective like "Accountability in the the town of Camden".  Maybe those pictures are worth a 1000 words and then you have to ask yourself "do I need to pay my taxes"?  Maybe Kent County needs to police its role and make towns more accountable for their failed policies of non-compliances.  Then again they have a lot on their plate with all these fore-closures and sheriff sales going on.  All those comments are a matter of public record as far as I can see.  Thats good because anyone can look up what they need to know.  Sometimes truth has a way of bringing the best out of you if you know what I mean.   :)

Love the Allan posts of cut and pastes.... reminds me of someone on another board who is notious for doing that..... a creative mind is a terrible thing to waste.....  :D

Pretty noble of you ...  but not nearly entertaining as the folks driving around taking photos ...... what a hoot.  Meanwhile ..... no elections in Camden this time around .... only one candidate ...  Did I say, "What a hoot?"  Come to think of it ... I think I perceive irony .... can you get a photo of that, please ....

First of all, Get your facts straight, the entire downstairs is a print shop and this property is zoned residential / commercial. I also have both a town and state license, so where your d a thinks that I am operating illigally is beyond me. As far as any state and federal taxes goes it is determined by payroll taxes and gross receipt taxes for which neither is determined by the property type. It must be nice to hide behind a forum that you don't have to expose your chicken ass. By the way I am writing this you know who I am, perhaps you would like to come in and talk about some of your inflictions. I think anyone who can sit back and talk sh-- on a computer is a piece of crap. I have never caused anyone any harm, I am usually found in this shop around the clock because I do believe in paying my bills and have the responsibility to do so. But being a small business, it is sometimes hard to make ends meet because of larger companies taking their time paying. perhaps you ought to look into a better paying job or getting an education so you can stop looking for others to pay higher taxes so you can sit on your ass. Yea, I can make generalizations about those who hide here and complain about others not paying their fair share. I for one, think you are just lazy and feel that others should take care of your responsibilities.

Furthermore, the steps on the side of the building have been here long before I ever bought this property, therefore, they are grandfathered until I can financially afford to change them. Now that I got that out, I'll say this, if you have a problem with ME, be a MAN/ WOMAN or whatever come talk to me in person, we'll see what facts you have. Otherwise shut the ______ up!!!!

Tell Harold to walk across the street from Mooney headquarters. Ask him what building codes allow external wood stairs to be the sole access to a 3rd story apartment? Then, let Kent County know that this 4 Unit residentially zoned property is being used commercially. Inform CR shcool district that this is going on right across from Town Hall. Please let the State and the IRS know about this we all need the money. Finally, Have councilman Babbit ask his neighbor why he is also delinquent in paying Kent county taxes. Once again Four electric meters?

DomThong - if you checked, you'd find out that tickets for no insurance or unregistered vehicles can only be written if the car is in motion. Not parked alongside the curb. Harold enforces "code" violations, as in building codes and town ordinances such as the "abandoned vehicle" ordinance dealing with broken down cars.

Speaking of Harold Scott Jr. What I think is really strange is I get my Winter 2007 newsletter and it tells me to call Mr. Scott if there is an unregistered and/or abandoned vehicle. He is the sole/only newly appointed "Code Enforcer" But, as long as he's been living here cannot determine what an illegal apartment is. That brings me to our "Police Farce" aka " Mooney Militia"just what the hell do they do? Have they ever heard of patrolling neighborhoods? Is Camden so massive that they can't get around to every street? See page one if you don't believe it! They actually have Harold as the point of contact. Can he write a ticket for no insurance or unregistered vehicles? This car in the picture has been sitting for over 3 years not moving and tags expired over 2 1/2 years ago. Not a soul will call because of who drives the other car in the driveway. This is ironic as Mooney's Crimetips van blocking Pharsalia's street but yet trying to enforce on street parking in other developments.

Hey Exterminator, Go easy on Harold Scott Jr. He's not an elected official, he's still frazzled and needs guidance since Tim Blawn is no longer on the Camden nipple. For HappyOne what drugs are you on? Mooney and the Council of crooks need more than fingers pointed at them. They need to held accountable to more than just the Town of Camden residents. start with the State, Kent County, and the CR School Disrtict.

Looks like things will be better now that Mooney had no opponents that I know of. He will be the focal point and have to explain why He has destroyed this town and allowed the corruption to continue. I wonder if we will still have a Town after all is said and done. I do suspect that Harold Scott Jr. will sing like a canary and the town manager will cover his butt.

Again we are back to pointing fingers at the poorly run Camden Town and the people who run it. Again, The mayor and the councils seats as of yet are unopposed. They have 2 more days to put thier names on the ballot to run. Why hasn't anyone stepped up to the plate? If you so sore about all the wrong doings of the town then you need to do the honorable thing and step forward and help the town of Camden!

Otherwise keep your mouth shut. Either do something or don't GRIPE. Period. It's as simple as that!:)

MooneyExposed (whimp!) please stop sugar coating the issues!  Lets get right down to business and expose the cockroaches! For starters I’ll go right into when you drive into our scandalous town take a look, a few houses down on the left 330 Camden Wyoming ave. One of Camden’s top slumlords:

 Exhibit One: http://400.co.kent.de.us/cgi-bin/web001cl?MAPPIN=7-02-09411-03-2300-00001

Who (the jury) in their right mind thinks that this 4 family apartment should only be paying $200.18 a year in Kent county taxes and less in Camden taxes? Who thinks this is a “1” living residential unit with 1,320 square feet? Four electric meters hooked up to this “1” unit residential home? I believe the first ¼ of the building is 1,320 sq. ft.; it sure looks like more than 4,000+ square feet to me. Hit the history link and billing detail links to see what they are not paying. Meanwhile under the cloak of the town of Camden they are literally stealing from the IRS and Delaware Tax revenue. Tax revenue that should be going to the school districts and other entities listed in the tax detail. For those of you that don’t know this is a Felony! How much longer will Mayor Mooney and now the “Code Enforcement Officer” Harold Scott Jr. keep their heads buried in the sand overlooking this? Will they continue to drive by homes that are so-called one family residential unit with 4 electric and gas meters and do nothing? I have to give you credit to  DomThong for exposing Rich Maly; I like that link that he posted, he knows what has gone on in NJ & NJ. They have gone after this; filed and won criminal felony charges against this kind of activity. I am mostly appalled that retired people in the town are paying more taxes in their single-family residences than illegal commercial enterprises in Camden.

If you have problem setting up a user name on this board please use a different zip code the forum appears to deny 19934 zip code. Nothing like your constitutional rights being hindered. Please set up an account so you can see the pictures, I will keep exposing these criminals until they are crushed like the cockroaches they are.

My final word: stop sugar coating the corruption in this town!

Can you elaborate more on the specifics of the problems? Besides the waste, duplication of the services and the near uselessness of the "Police Farce" ?? How the does the State revenue and the IRS relate?

Who in their right mind would run for mayor? It is just a matter of time before Camden has serious financial problems. How many so called services can they duplicate that the state and county already provide in the base taxes we pay to the county? Public Works,  Code enforcement, Police, Planning or lack of Planning. Three million for a now Town Hall which, Mr. Mooney is not coming clean with his rental plan"B." The town is just one big disaster waiting to implode! Bring in some Federal investigators and send a few to jail. We are held hostage by the town and the "alliance" with the monopolized Camden Sewer and water "A"holes. Mark my word 2008 will be the year where the State, County, CR School district, Internal Revenue Service, and residents will no longer be able to tolerate what is going on in this town.

The town needs to have someone step forward and run againt this Goon. Everyone want's to gripe but step up and make some change then! Otherwise everyone needs to keep quiet! What I don’t understand are two things: Councilman Babbit has not paid his Kent County Taxes and most likely his Camden Taxes. The town has bought plenty of equipment and supplies off his company and he has not been removed from office. Next, the assessment on his house he has over 3,382 square feet not including the massive extensions to his house. The Kent County assessment for the building is 56,700 while yet, my neighbors in Barclay Farms including Councilman Hawkins has 1,686 square feet; assessment is at 58,500 (without ownership of the land). Then we have Mr. Fuchs (hopefully he will run as councilman to straighten them out) with 1.617 square feet; assessment for the building is 58,800. Finally we have Mr. Maly (Mayor Mooneys’ Propaganda officer Rich Maly)  ringing at 1,543 square feet, assessment for the building is 54,200.  Is the town going to hide behind the “Historic District” label; why should someone with double the square footage on their home pay less? Why should they be allowed not to pay extra taxes to the county and the town for massive extensions and renovations? I’m retired and sick of the stuff that goes on in this town!

Councilman Babbit 3,283 square feet, assessment 56,700

I for one must say I was appalled by the Mayors actions at the last public meeting. This was my first meeting I attended and was in shock at how he addressed those who chose to speak. I was deeply saddened for those who were chastised, laughed upon and rudely interrupted when it was their turn to "speak up". I heard many people making comments about his behavior and rudeness. I am ashamed to live in Camden and call him our Mayor.

Yup, Jody, when people start waking up to the fact that the road in front of their house is going to have to be as wide as the one now in front of the devlopment down the street, the folks are going to be very unhappy. Now those 'wide spots ' in front of developments look from the air like a snake that swallowed a football. Big wide road with bike paths, etc., then a quick return to a two lane road with no shoulders with peoples front yards abutting them. But it's "unfair to say no to developers" according to our County gummit.

The Mooney Empire or whatever you want to call it has taken a toll on the good people of Camden and yet they sit there and let it happen.  When I seen they hired another police officer you have to wonder how the town plans on paying for all these funded positions.  Pretty soon Camden may need a full time Mayor like Dover!  Old Jim "Hutch" got his good ole boys behind that deal and got his agenda done before he got exposed for his dealings at tax payer expense.  I think Mooney may be on the same track to do the same in Camden.  Who knows.  Food for thought.  Somebody has to pay for all this "growth" and public service need.  The tax base is being tested now due to the credit crunch and the slow down in building.  Mayor Mooney may need to subsidize the shortfalls on his own dime.  haha

The PLUS input from DelDOT about Savannah had no surprises.  The first comment was that they want dedication of land along Rt 10 and Moose Lodge Rd for improvements.  THe requirement along Moose Lodge Rd is 30 feet from the center line.  If they take 30 feet from Center Line into my yard, I will be able to clean windshields from my front porch.  THey then want another 15 feet for a 10-foot wide shared use path.  I am looking for the Traffic Impact Study for a confirmation of what we already know is bad.  WIth the plan for a roundabout at Rt 10 and Moose Lodge Rd, a shopping Center across from Barclays Farms on Rt 10, and a new CR School on Rt 10 on the West side of the tracks, if you live west of town, you better start looking for a different route into Dover.

IT is a shame about those homes in Newell's Creek.  I realize that families were just trying to do the right thing and save some quick money, but I hate to think about anyone losing their homes for any reason.

I think that I have a five year warranty on my truck that pretty much covers anything that happens to it during those five years.  If there is a flaw in the paint, the brakes fail prematurely, the engine fails, or the tires blow up, the manufacturer fixes it for me.  I think that there needs to be legislation in the county that forces the same type of warranty on a house.  New houses barely have a year of warranty, and it is usually with an out of state developer that is gone and won't make it right.  You end up with cheap homes that were put up very fast that the owners can't afford to fix when something goes wrong.

Savannah Farms is looking to be the same type of development and since it will be in Camden, even the county can't do anything about it.  Mooney wants it too bad to force the developer to make it a better community.

Thanks Robert Mooney!

Two more Newell's Creek Homes on the Kent County Sheriff's sale for Feb. 2008

How's that PVC  pipe farm doing behind Lowe's? Did the Sub-Prime funding run out?

You don't care do you as long as you get the transfer fees and the town taxpayers pay for the sewer and water plumbing for the newly annexed properties. Might as well double the size of the town hall with the projected growth. Nothing like a 40 year mortgage one the town!

When are you going to make public your plan "B" for the town hall? What are you waiting for?

Keep driving us into debt!

It just goes to show you; Mooney and his Council cannot be trusted. Changes right before the meeting, they really are not good at even being spin doctors. The very old map? 16 volunteers? They can't bet trusted with our money or simple decisions. So, the new properties that came forward unsolicited to the "Council" to be annexed do we the taxpayers have any say in if we want to lay out hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay for sewer and water lines from CWSWA? It is now written in the Town Charter that we have to supply that. Another high density development in Camden? sounds like another Mooney PVC pipe dream like the train wreak developement behind Lowe's. Take a good look at the Townhomes in Newell's Creek that they approved. Do we really need more of that?

I heard comments about how the Mayor acted toward those in attendance.  Maybe he didn't care because most of those he disrespected were not town residents.  He actually laughed at Mr. Weeks. He tried to humiliate Dr. Bauer. He continually slapped his leg as if he was frustrated with the questions that were asked. He checked his watched nearly 30 times in the last half hour.  That was around the attempts to personally attack me.  Someday HB, I wil have to tell you the full story behind his attacks on me, he stooped really low.

Now that I have participated in ruining his vision of grandeur for his kingdom, his mayorship is next.  He has completely lost the idea of what honorable really is.

One final point; it was made loud and clear that the 5th District Commissioner was a willing and supportive participant in the Camden Comprehensive Plan.  Although he ran on a platform of slower growth and infrastructure, that is an exaggeration of his position (THAT is rhetorical!).  Facts about voting records and public statements that are made are not negative campaigning.  All of my campaign ads will be factual and with proof.  Just because a person does not want it heard does not make it negative.  Heck, if you believe what you say, I will help you get the word out to the public!

I thought it was interesting that the mayor or one of the officials told a meeting attendee that they wouldn't change to allow the people in town to vote on an annexation because they shouldn't be allowed to decide who can come in. Hello? Doesn't the Town Council now vote on such additions to the town? Why would a direct vote be any different? The people in town now are the ones that will be paying in the future for the developers' new housing. Maybe the officials are just concerned that people in town who have to pay the bills aren't as friendly to developers?? What all these predator towns need to do is let the community at large decide who adds tax burdens not just a wink-nudge-nod town council and the developer who wants to skip County regulations.

Camden’s future: Meeting draws crowd

Annexation nixed on some areas

From the Delaware State News

By Nora Engel

Delaware State News

CAMDEN — The fears and frustrations of Camden residents over the future of the town were addressed Thursday night at a special public meeting.

Planner Chris Fazio, with Remington, Vernick & Beach Engineers, presented the comprehensive plan to the residents at the Camden-Wyoming Fire Hall on West Street.

"The comprehensive plan is reviewed every five years and readopted every 10 years," he said.

"It dictates not only how to annex land but how to maintain and control it."

Mr. Fazio said the population of the town has been growing 10 percent every five years. He said most of the annexation in the comprehensive plan takes place at the southern end of town.

Camden Mayor Robert Mooney also told the crowd that 15 minutes prior to the meeting, it was voted on and approved by the planning committee that the areas of Eagles Nest, Stonegate, Rodney Village, and north of Rodney Village would no longer be included in the comprehensive plan as areas for annexation.

Dozens of people who had waited to hear that announcement left as soon as it was made.

"The planning commission approved it this evening. What is important to me is that you have no problems with the town of Camden," he said.

"All of your fears, if you had any, should be set aside."

Mayor Mooney said the boundary issue with Wyoming had also been resolved.

A problem was recently discovered that dated back to 1977.

The northbound lane of Caesar Rodney Avenue was within the limits of Camden and the southbound lane was in Wyoming.

Mayor Mooney announced at Thursday’s meeting that Del. 10 to Caesar Rodney Avenue and Brenda Lane is now Wyoming and Camden has the area west of Brenda Lane.

Dr. Robert Bauer, a resident of Camden, asked Mayor Mooney at the meeting why there is not a special election held when land is annexed.

"I wanted to know if they would consider a special election to determine annexations by the town of Camden giving me and the other residents the opportunity to vote," he said.

"They have the power to make the decision, but they should let us, the residents, determine what is best for us."

Mayor Mooney said annexations are done at the request of the property owner, and therefore, there is no special election by the residents.

He said it is the property owners’ choice if they want to be a part of the community and it is not up to the residents to decide if they want them in the community or not.

Well it has become apparent that these blogs are closely watched, even if they are not participated in.  I have had many comments from officials in both County and Camden governments, which implies that they keep up with what people are saying online, even if it is just a few of us frankly discussing the issues.  As far as the plan itself, I feel vindicated for two reasons:  1st, the meeting had to move to the Firehouse instead of the Sewer & Water building, and every question I have posed in the last few weeks was asked by someone 2nd, elsethe town has modified the annexation plan to remove all of the sub-divisions east of Rt13 (Fairfield Farms, Royal Grant, Sandy Hill, Traybern, Eagles Nest, Stonegate, Meadowbrook, Longacre Village).

The meeting was not the place to campaign or to use rhetoric (Look it up, it is the UNDUE use of exaggeration.  I used very few adjectives in my OP-ED piece, but simply asked the questions that needed to be asked.)  Land use rights are very, very, very, important (THAT is rhetoric), and the planned use for the agricultural land inside a municipal boundary will be for growing houses, not how much corn you can get out of an acre. "Smart growth" is nto the willy-nilly annexation of land in one of the most reckless comprehensive plans of any in the county.  So, for the self described "big boy", your actions tonight were very, very, very immature. Comments are not negative just because you disagree with them.

And the Rude Award is split between two people tonight.  The Engineer for the Camden Comp Plan, who dismissed copies of the map that were shared at the beginning of the meeting saying that they were very, very old (more rhetoric) when they were last presented a whole total of 22 days ago on November 28th, 2007.  Please, get SOMETHING right.  and the co-Rudeness award goes to head of the town, who must have checked his watch 30 times, and actually laughed at Mr. Cronis, a resident, who was making a valid point.

To whomever: please note the DATE and TIME fo this post.  :)  It is too bad that the only response to a frank discussion that you disagree with is to file a formal complaint about the time of day that some posts were made. My campaign for 5th District Levy Court is off and running.

In answer to Allan's question,

Dec. 19 Delaware State News article (most-pertinent info in boldface):

Meeting set on Camden plan

Location changed due to expected large crowd

By Nora Engel

Delaware State News

CAMDEN — Camden officials will hold a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Camden-Wyoming Fire Station on West Street to discuss the comprehensive plan for the town.

Mayor Robert Mooney strongly urged res dents at the previous meeting earlier this month to attend the special meeting.

Mayor Mooney said he scheduled Thursday’s meeting after it became clear some residents had questions about the plan.

He said if people do not attend and don’t speak up, he will assume that means everyone is satisfied with the comprehensive plan.

"Remington, Vernick & Beach Engineers are the consultants of the comprehensive plan," said Donald Mulrine, town manager.

"Christopher Fazio will be doing a presentation for the whole town on how the plan started and what we did."

Mr. Fazio presented the plan at this month’s previous meeting and Mr. Mulrine said it will be basically the same presentation but with a few changes and additions.

He said two other important public meetings will be held before the comprehensive plan meeting.

Mr. Mulrine said the board of adjustment meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Camden Water and Sewer Authority across the street from the fire station and the planning commission meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the same location.

The agenda for the planning commission meeting says mapping adjustments, specifically the annexation for future growth, will be discussed under new business.

Mr. Mulrine said the meeting scheduled to discuss the comprehensive plan was originally going to be at the same location as the other two meetings, but because of an expected large turnout, the town officials thought it best to move the meeting to the fire station.

Councilman Robert Hawkins said it will be beneficial to Camden residents to attend the comprehensive plan meeting.

"If the people are interested with what is in the comprehensive plan and if they have problems with what we are looking at for the future, this will be their chance to speak up and ask questions," he said.

To see the complete agendas for all three meetings visit http://www.townofcamden.com.

Mooney's tax base is the fuel this man needs to do all he while he can.  Considering a slowing economy, numerous foreclosures and a tax revenue base that maybe in stall mode for awhile, this man is out of control.  He has to do something to fund the town and all his needs.  So annexation is his way of doing business so he can hire more police, more cronies and who knows what else the man is capable of doing considering he pretty much does what ever he wants to do as "Mayor".  He probably needs to fund more vacation trips for enhancing his "knowledge" on how to run a town in need of his "wisdom" for the future growth.  Who knows whats going to happen at tonights meeting, but get out tonight and be at the Camden Wyoming Fire Hall and let this guy know you have a say in what the hell goes on in YOUR Camden !

Mayor Mooney needs a rude awakening and now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I guess Mooney wants to build his empire so he can proclaim himself full time Mayor of Camden with public service benefits.  Thats next after he gets his way on all his goals for annexation.  Stop him?  Sure hope so.

The economic down turn for our area should signal something but it seems things just keep chugging along with business as usual.  The implosion is on the horizon and it will be in the form of a recession.  The problem I see right now is that most small communities have over extended themselves and now the real problem begins with how to pay for our mistakes.  The tax base they "assume" is there begins to show problems of stress and fatigue.  Growth is put in check by "real value" as the market dictates and no outside forces can control it.  We never assume anything in life and with the current mayor of Camden on this rampage for glory your threading in unknown waters when you can't see the real issues we need to deal with first.  You have to approach real growth with a systematic plan!  Since the mayor of Camden has taken office theirs been more controversy in the towns government then ever before and along with these controversies came secret dealings behind closed doors.  It's the nature of the beast when you have to keep things from the public eye.  I believe this has taken place and his vision for Camden will be a real major problem.

Mr. Mooney's comment was that since Camden residents had not said anything about the Camden Comprehensive Plan, they must agree with the it.  As an ex-State Policeman, he has to know that failure to respond is not considered acceptance.  I think this plan should be put to the test as a referendum for the entire town to vote on.  It is aggressive enough that all should know what the plan is, how it will affect them, and a fair discussion about the true rules in the charter for the town.  How about it, Mayor?

Camden residents need to open up their eyes and start taking charge of their future.  Attend this meeting and show your strength in numbers because Robert Mooney's agenda is based on his never-ending greed for self-worth.  I've seen this man in action for a lot of years and the world doesn't revolve around Robert Mooney as he may think it does!

I dont live in Camden, so the blame is not on me.  However, if I did, I would not have voted for him.   I don't know anything about him from his life prior to Mayor, but I know what he has done as mayor
