They should have a dress code. Kids coming to school with their pants down to their knees and their drawers showing. Girls wearing shorts with their butts hanging out and tops with hooters falling out its wrong. But why didn't the girls dress like this when I went to school? When I went to school we were lucky if we got a peek or two the entire year.

STUDENT DRESS CODE REGULATION
All students must maintain a state of general cleanliness. Health and safety standards will be maintained at all times for the protection of students. Clothing and footwear must not be composed of material or have ornamentation that will damage furniture or floors or create a hazard to others.
Students will wear a uniform style of dress based upon the following standards:
Black, Navy Blue, Khaki, or Blue Denim Pants, Capris, Walking Shorts, Skorts, Skirts, or Jumpers
1. Shorts, skorts, skirts or jumpers must be respectable and modest in length.
(Modest in length is defined as the width of the student’s hand from the bottom of the article of clothing to the top of their bended knee)
2. Clothing items must be worn at the natural waist.
3. A belt must be worn if pants or shorts do not stay at natural waist.
4. Solid color jeans may have embroidery or designs on pockets.
Solid White, Blue or Gray Shirts or Blouses
1. All outer shirts and blouses must have a collar and must be tucked in or worn at mid hip.
2. Undershirts and camisoles that are visible must be solid white, blue or gray and may not be longer than the outer shirt.
3. Shirts, sweaters and sweatshirts may have a small emblem or logo on the left or right chest.
4. Turtlenecks and cowlnecks are permitted.
5. Collared sweaters and sweatshirts in solid white, blue or gray are permitted.
6. White, blue or gray sweaters or sweatshirts in cardigan, crewneck, hooded or V-neck style may be worn with collared or turtleneck uniform shirt underneath.
7. Hoods are not to be up while in the building.
Spirit Wear
Any clothing with authorized school logo or Lake Forest team wear is considered spirit wear.Lake Forest building principals may permit the wearing of spirit wear or special event clothing at their discretion.
Footwear
1. Shoes must be blue, black, white or brown in color; no open heel permitted.
2. Sneakers are acceptable.
3. Footwear must be securely fastened.
Legwear
1. Solid color white, tan, black, natural or blue socks, tights or stockings may be worn.
2. Solid color pantyhose are acceptable in these colors: white, black, blue, gray or natural.
Clarifying statements:
1. Sweatpants, lounge pants, and pajamas are NOT permitted.
2. Sleeveless shirts and t-shirts are NOT permitted.
3. Clogs, flip-flops, slides and bedroom slippers are NOT permitted.
4. Hats, head coverings, visors, scarves and sunglasses may not be worn or carried in the building.
5. Clothing must not have holes, studs, sequins, tears or fringes.
6. Lake ForestSchool District provided competition jersey attire is acceptable on team event days.
7. Appropriate physical education attire is determined by the physical education teacher.
Clothing, hair arrangements, or other personal adornments or embellishments that tend to be disruptive, unsafe or interfere with the regular operations of school are expressly prohibited during school hours and during school functions. Building administrators will make final decisions concerning appropriateness of dress. Students in violation of this regulation will be subject to disciplinary action using the following guidelines:
1. First violation – the student will be issued appropriate substitute clothing or the parent/guardian will be contacted to bring in appropriate clothing. The student may be removed from the general school population until substitute clothing is secured.*
2. Second violation – the student will be issued appropriate substitute clothing or the parent/guardian will be contacted to bring in appropriate clothing and the student will be placed in internal suspension.
3. Third violation – the student will be assigned one (1) day out-of-school suspension and the student’s parent/guardian will participate in a conference with a building administrator.
*Principals have authority to classify student dress code violations as “first violation” more than once depending upon nature of infraction, the age of the student and the attitude of the student.
