Harrington parent you can't compare Lake Forest with Caesar Rodney or Dover that is why they do not play in the same division. To make it simple so you understand LF is in the small school division. They have roughly the same number of students as their opponents. The talent is there if it is utilized properly. Why do kids that are good football players not want to play under the current staff? As far as the Huskies organization Harrington Parks and Rec has its own issues but they have been successful. The coaches there seem to understand the game. Some of the same kids who were with this successful organization play high school football for Lake and the question is what happened? Hmmm could it be a coaching issue.

| There are still the same issues as when Lakes coach first started 3 years ago. There are definitely racial issues, kids are not treated the same, some are so beaten down by this coach-they don't have the heart they once had. the love of football is the only thing that keeps them coming back from day to day. Its the same ones who are picked to shine each week, but fail to deliver. the coaches humiliate the players if they go to the trainer, they down grade them and insinuate they are "sissy's". if a kid is not one of the few select "coach's kids", they are looked over; even tho the ones being looked over are the ones with the most consistent talent. if you're not one of the select "coach's kids" and you are given a play and mess up, you're taken out-no more chanes AND you're humilated in front of your team mates. Maybe the administration should attend practices and games-be on the side lines, in the locker-rooms, listen to the kids as they talk amongst themselves-that would give the administration a better look at how the coaches are handling these student players. Its a shame really, its definitely a repeat from the last two years...

I don't think any coach could have pulled the boys through. In terms of square miles, LF is probably the biggest school district in the state. But, almost all other school districts have a lot higher density, bigger talent pool, more money, and much bigger athletic programs. Some of these schools have a hundred kids try out for the team each year. It's tough to compete with that.
I used to know a lot of kids that played in the Huskies league. Most sat the bench while a few played all the time because the coaches stressed winning over fundementals and the joy of the game. The kids with less talent got discouraged and didn't go on to play at the high school level because the coaches made winning a priority. We can't even get enough kids to come out and play little league at the higher levels because the coaches stress winning so much that the kids with lesser talent sit the bench, get disheartened, and quit.

| I went to the game in Smyrna to the game on friday. The kids did not lose the game the coach was outcoached. His play calling was terrible. If you run 3 or 4 dives up the middle and they keep getting stopped then you have to bounce the ball outside. They tried this option play and had better success then pounding the middle. The line had some serious problems blocking. Before the ball could be handed off or the qb tried to pass the ball Smyrna was in the backfield. Are they tought how to block? I do not fault the kids I fault the coach. The defense was another issue. Smyrna could run around both ends at will. Did the coach look at any film of the last Smyrna game? I understand they ran the same plays in their first win. Again this was another coaching failure. The defensive ends in the first half kept crashing strait in on the QB and the Smyrna RB would run right around them and bounce the play outside and would get large chunks of yardage. In the second half the D-ends made no adjustments and the results were the same. The ends seemed to know nothing about come across the line jam the tackle or tightend inside, come strait across the line a yard or two and turn the play inside and contain. The line backers and the middle of the defense could stop the run why not move them out towards the ends to support. There appeared to be a great deal of confusion when the coach would call plays even when he was on the field during a time out. It appeared to be utter confusion. The confusion appeared to be what players needed to be on the field and what they were doing when they were on the field. I think its not a talent issue as much as a coaching issue. In the years the coach has been there we have had a major drug issue one year, rumors of racial issues, and the embarrassment of the play on the field. The coach told the paper before the season started that the team was going to surprise some people. The only surprise is that this coach still has a job. Who makes the decision to hire these coaches anyway? Maybe they need to be fired.
