Please do not call the number listed by Concerncitizen  - it is the FAX number at the Harrington Public Library.

FYI - the library does have a public FAX if you ever need the service! :)

Excuse me?  I am a native Delawarean who has always paid their taxes - and I only live 20 miles from where I grew up.  And, as I explained before, we are being charged for inflated and poor services, therefore, I and the rest of the property owner's did not make them, the City made them up and inflated the costs.  They have NEVER used the meter readings to charge us actual usage, therefore they cannot honestly bill us for sewer and water.  I also had a streetlight out in front of my house for nearly a year before it was fixed.

I have attended City Council meetings over the years, and find the good old boys really don't care to hear what the community has to say - everyone who speaks seems to get placated and then the City does what it wants.  It is not the citizens fault for problems caused by poor management, planning and infrastructure maintenance.

As for being lazy, I am nearly 50 and I have worked very hard since I was 12.  I put myself through college twice while working a 40 hour week and raising a family.  I am on call 24/7, work many long hours, and to date have never collected unemployment - and I cannot afford to eat out, so hot dogs are a staple around my house as well.

If you have a beef about the Feds and State, start a different thread, but don't jump on others who do their part and are getting ripped off.  Basically you are defending the City's poor management, poor planning, and poor services and slapping everyone else down.

Tastes like bleach because it is bleach. Now Just shut up and pay your bills. After all  you made them and further you have sat on your fat butt and let our government just go hog wild with tax increases and wasteful spending just like everyone else. Then you come here and expect to change things after doing nothing for years and years. You just let it go, and  wake up to find  we are all paying for the mistakes that your laziness cost us. You should have spoke up many years ago because you knew what was going on and did nothing. You seen the street lights on all the time, the lights left on outside and inside of schools and government buildings, you seen the fancy stuff government spends our taxes on, its everywhere-all around in DMV and other government buildings, you could not miss the art work & fancy stuff in these buildings and never gave it one thought about where the money came from to buy this stuff, well I'll tell you thousands of it came from my pocket. Thats why we're all going broke because of lazy ass people that did nothing. Now you must suffer while our government is rich driving around in limos, flying all over the world at our cost, and giving our hard earned money to other countries, while you will be eatting hotdogs 4 times week. Thank you!:X

I have been here for 20 years and have always paid my taxes.  Between that and the normal property taxes, that is over $2,000 per year from me!  As a citizen, who does pay taxes, I should see where thoses taxes are going.  So far I have seen nothing done around town.  Also, the flat rate we are being charged is 20,000 gallons which is obscene.  A household would have to leave a hose running 24/7 for a month to use that.  The City was supposed to have the sewer plant upgraded as well as the water system - but where are the results - do the books show matching state and federal grants for the work, or were the city fathers going to just forgo that part of it?.  Also, you can't drink the water most of the time because it actually tastes like bleach.  By the way Winky, watch your language.

If you look at the meter reading (which was expensive to buy), you will see that they still aren't even reading the meters they made us buy!  We are paying almost as much as they do in many big cities, and the services are poor.  To top it all off, we can place out 6 bags of garbage, no yard waste, and they do not take bulk items like old tables, chairs, etc...  AND, both sewer and water are slated to go up again next year.

Has ANYBODY seen these improvements they are supposedly making, and/or are we paying for that idiot who bled the town coffers dry?

To the Property Owners, People of Harrington,

I don't even know where to start, but when I opened my water, sewage, trash bill from  the City of Harrington, I was totally shocked. prices went from 178.00+ a quarter to 249.00+ a quarter. The Mayor and city council needs to be impeached for gouging the property owners and people of Harrington, no matter what excuse they give us and I really feel sorry for seniors that  on fixed income, how do they make it only God knows. Please join me in going to the city council meeting to demand answer's and to roll back price increases.  People need to call and comlpain to city hall @ 302-398-3847 also never give up with their answer, we are not to blame. Remember, the more people to show up and call the more response we will have.
