| I agree! I was in the band when I was in high school and played sports, so I know how dedicated you have to be.

| Additionally the band students do other things as well. They play football, hockey, soccer, cross country, basketball, tennis, track, baseball and softball. Band is a course in which they receive a high school grade. It is not just an extra curricular activity.

I have read this post over again but I did not see any other post refer to the players as "jocks" except for yours. Please do not misinterpret my post as being nasty, I was just stating that the football players also do other activities besides football. Just setting the record straight..

| I wasn't commenting to you to init4lake was who I want to hear from....they stated those who can play others join band well my band kid can play and do many other things as well....one other band student I think is on the JV team so watch who you make nasty comments about they may include some football players elsewhere that are involved with Lake...the comment was in reference to that post...read the topic before addressing what someone is saying and don't take what I said out of context, read the whole topic. They were implying that band kids can not do anything else that is why they are in band. Just setting the record straight..

| Mom4LF......."what do the jocks do besides play ball???" I can only speak for my son, but I'm sure there are other "Jocks" that do more than play ball. Just because they love to be an athlete and play football does not mean that is all they do. There are alot of very bright students at Lake that are involved in other extracurricular activities besides sports. Some of these "jocks" as you call them are also on the Honor Roll.

| Right and by the way not directed at you just wanted to put this out there...I am so sick of people commenting on the lack of dedication on the bands part and how it is the students who are the problem. In case anyone has forgotten the start of the problems occurred when the old director and our previous principal started a little scandal in the band room.....that is what the problem was and band has never been the same since. The juniors were still at Chipman at the time but have had a terrible band experience since. They are sick of not having a good director, somone who knows how to march, and can help them improve. They are sick of getting low scores at TOBS and then getting blamed for a bad preformance. They only know what they are being taught. If football continues to do poorly a new coach is found. What is wrong with Lake that Curry claims music is so important and yet they refuse to hire someone to better things. It makes no sense to me at all. As far as init4lake and JOJO.....these kids are just as commited to what they are doing and I resent you commenting otherwise. Some of these kids play sports too and are in other groups and volunteer at other things. Some of them get HONOR ROLL.....what do the jocks do besides play ball...since you like to imply some play and then some join band...they have pride and if you can't handle the football games and how Lake kids handle things when we lose then don't attend. What a few kids said was no reason for you to attack the entire band....act like an adult

| Mom4LF, you are absolutely correct! In addition to that, the band can not play when the other team is playing nor can they play when the other team has the ball. After all of that is said and done how much time is left to play? The first, second and fourth quarters - but only when LF has the ball, and if the other band is not playing...

| Just so you all have the facts straight. The band has always had the third quarter off. It has always been that way...they are only suppose to play when instructed to do so by the drum major or the instructor. Everyone knows emotions run high at a football game if you or the players can't handle the comments then don't come..besides are you trying to get the team and band so they won't work together just like everything else at Lake. Give me break and someone stated that band kids were walking around....are you even aware that some of those kids may have been kids from the pits that usually do not play when they are in the stands anyway. Sounds like we have some sore losers....

I am going to assume that they join the band to play, which they just don't do. I don't think they played a d**n thing (in the second half) until called out by the stadium announcer late in the game, while Milford's band played the entire time. I don't blame the kids, they just lack the leadership that understands friday night football games - it's about a lot more than just the game.
It can really be a great experience for everyone - football players should compete, the band should play, the cheerleaders should cheer and the fans should be encouraging them all.

| OVER HEARD 3 BAND MEMBERS TALKING " OUR FOOTBALL TEAM REALLY SUCKS". THIS IS COMING FROM BAND THAT WON'T STAY FOR THE ENTIRE OR EVEN PLAY FOR HALF THE GAME. MOST OF THEM ARE WALKING AROUND FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE GAME STARTS. NEXT YEAR PUT SOME PADS ON GET HIT A COUPLE TIMES AND SEE WHAT FOOTBALL PLAYERS GO THROUGH PLAY AFTER PLAY. THAT IS CALLED COMMITMENT AND PRIDE SOMETHING YOUR BAND LACKS. THOSE WHO CAN PLAY, OTHERS JOIN THE BAND.
