Not going to argue with you on that, nor am I defending the fact that it takes way too long to get an officer when needed, I was just pointing out that if you live in a certain troops sector, you will most likely get an officer from that troop. As for the slow response, not sure what the answer is for that, maybe more officers, or allow municipalities to assist more than they do now. With all the noise made recently in the news about the closest fire company being dispatched, I find it funny the same reporter has not questioned the fact that the police do not always send the closest unit.

These so called bad accidents do not require fire department or ambulance? Usually in those cases the police are there quickly. If no one was hurt, I would not consider it a bad accident. Still, 3-5 hours is pathetic by any measure.

While you are correct that they are Delaware State Police, and they do have jurisdiction in "Delaware", it does in fact matter which troop they are out of. That being said, there are incidents that they have sent a unit, or units into another Troops area/sector, but 99% of the time, if you live in Troop % area, you are getting a Troop 5 officer...

I have lived in the area for 20 years and every time I call them they argue over what troop we belong to. I know for a fact that it belongs to troop 3. If they do respond it usually takes up to 3 hours and sometimes they never come. we have had a major increase in traffic at the intersection of Andrewville and Prospect Church rd. as a result we have had many dangerous accident occur due to drunk drivers driving thru the stop signs. It almost hopeless to call the State Police because getting them to respond is almost impossible.
Delaware state police can go anywhere in Delaware, they ARE STATE POLICE, it makes positively no difference what troop their from. If when you call make sure its important and get names from who you talk to. If  no officer resopnds go up the latter to supervisors and give names.

Not doubting the fact that you know you are in Troop 3 area, but just saying you may want to check and make sure, I do know that part of Andrewville road is in Sussex Troop 5 area. If you do indeed live in the area that is serviced by Troop 3, find out where the dividing line is, and when you call for assistance, make sure you stress you are beyond the dividing line. Also, do not assume that because you may be in a Kent County Fire District, that you are also serviced by a Kent County Based Troop.

Hope this helps, if not, you may want to contact you Levy Court Commissioner, or you representative and advise him of the issues you are having.
